PICCOLO BASS DUDES. it is cool, but you gotta apreciate what he plays, not how or on what! i prefer sheehan as a bassist, but i like DeMaio because of the music he plays!! and let cliff RIP stop comparing everybody to him, he ain't that good!

Joey Demaio Uses a stereo Bass. One chanel is tuned in middle freq. and second chanel is tuned in bass freq.

He can choose his different sound or use both at the same time.

When he plays wyth manowar, the sound is full! Bass and "two" guitars. This is absolutely unique!

Well, I guess it's useless to keep on commenting, because it's mainly a matter of taste... anyway, I don't find anything unique in his style, there isn't anything in his playing that couldn't be reproduced with a guitar, whereas Cliff Burton, for example, had a truly unique playing style, that was totally different froma a guitar, despite his use of distortion and wah pedal...

I love you guys. If some artist you like does something different. If a guy you dont like does something different, you almost kill them. I like the metallica fans when they say: DeMaio sucks because he uses guitar distortion, and the bass dont really sound like bass. So, what about cliff buton? The same guys say: "cliff burton is a god because he uses guitar distortion".

And stop saying that it dont sound like bass. It sounds, but tuned in a different way to be different. Thats Manowar about.

@HSDABEL Well, his "bass" is actually tuned at the same octave of a guitar (I recently checked on Wikipedia and some sites regarding Manowar), it has the same distortion of a guitar (Cliff at least used it in a different way), there are 4 guitar strings on that instrument, he shreds with a pick the exact same way a guitarist would do, it's tone is just midrange and treble without any bass frequency... There's nothing suggesting that that instrument is a bass... Why didn't he just play a guitar?

Just to search something different. I prefer the sound of a bass than the sound of a guitar. If it's played like a guitar, thats cool. You just have a hard, a provocative and a bad ass sound. And there are a lot of artists that uses pickup. Why not?

i think you should all really just realize that he's just trying to strive and be the fastest bassist, and if he's not he's definetly up there on the best talented and so what if he altered his bass? what about the guitar folks, wasn't created electric now was it. He's another musical pioneer, well maybe not pioneer but hell he rapes the thing and people you have to admit for what it is, he's amazing.

WTF this is no bass playing... It's just a guitar tuned an octave lower, there's no bass playing in this "solo" (I wouldn't even dare to call them solos...)

Yes, that's a modificated instrument by himself. But I think that anyone gots their self stile to play, and Joey Demaio plays like: Faster, rubbish like you said.

If you want know this, I play guitar and I'm not a "Pachelbel" but I have my own self stile to play, like everyone that's play music

I know that everyone has his own style, and the beauty of music is that, and variety is a good thing... I am a bass player and I also have my own personal style... The thing I don't understand about Joey de Maio is why he plays bass exactly like a guitar, modifiyng his instrument in order to seem as much as possible similar to a guitar... Why doesn't he just play guitar? It's even better, since guitar is made to do that specific sound that de Maio creates with his bass xD
