  • When i was a kid in uk about 9 years ago TATA cars sucked! But now i will be proud to have a Tata for my first car

  • @iSaiRAS123

I have a 12 year old indica, which runs in Malta. It still runs perfectly today. When I'll change the car, it will be another Tata for sure. Cheap parts and maintenance costs and the fuel efficiency is amazing.

  • I'm willing to pay up to US$ 8.000 for a fully equiped nano. It could be just as good as a smart (i'd appreciate an engine with at least 50hp tough)

  • @Jormungandr69 I'm willing to pay exactly what their paying over there though as in the $2,500 range, well maybe a slight markup for handling and shipping. But that was the whole point behind this car right? If they have to jack around to get the price up to $9 or 10,000 or more to please our emissions that's complete hypocrisy in my opinion that we have to curve our emissions and pay our of our way while the rest of the world goes willy nilly cheaply. My other rant is safety.

  • @Jormungandr69 When it comes to safety, show me where the smart car is safer than the tata nano. I'd like to be able to purchase this car somewhere in the ball park of what it sells for over there. I understand yes there would be a mark up for shipping unless they build a plant here to make their cars, plus a middle man too for his storage and troubles such as car lots. But let me buy it cheaply and let me add all the bells and whistles myself if I want them. Heat AC only exceptions optional.

  • The car will be here when we die in 2012. Lol

  • That green tata actually looks like a nice car.

  • about 8000 to 10000 knowing what i know avout this capitalistic society : (

  • Thanks for sharing

  • very innovative, tapping a whole new market in the automobile industry.

I'm sure it will get more popular, now people are so concerned with cost effectiveness and fuel efficiency, this car, and its electrical counterpart, will fit this growing market perfectly.

and even considering it is a large corporation in India that did the R&D, that's quite a risk considering they are new to cars. I hope they do well and improve their designs.

  • -I like this guy ,he's a pioneer,he got vision and he's got guts, although i believe this car won't be sold in the US, i think it'll be a hit ,like the Ford model T was or the original VW Beetle.

  • I agree --- it's not about the technology. It's about the potential impact this car might have on India and all of South Asia. It could be transformative. Tata is also an interesting character.

  • @mrpitv not just for S Asia, but for all of the 3rd world..

  • haha its gonna release in the US (news came out today)

  • But it will be a car that has more safety and comfort features for the US market. Still, it could be a game changer.

  • @mrpitv

It is SAFE, but just doesn't pass some emissions tests.

  • > haha its gonna release in the US (news came

    > out today)

when? and where is the news?

  • @orangedac it was on yahoo. its needs additions (safety features better emmision) so i thnk its gonna strt selling by 2011 or somethng

  • 2011is when the Nano Europa comes out but only in Europe.

North America has to wait till about 2012 / 2013 before it arrives. The North American nano will be a refinement of the Europa. Hopefully the price won't be 'refined' as well destroying the main reason for buying such a car (cost).

I fear many middle men and useless accessories will end up raising the price unnecessarily. Keep it frugal TATA or don't bring it at all !!

  • its goin to be sold in usa by 2012 with a cost of $5000 and with all the safety and emission norms to all extend

  • @peter455sd

Nah, I heard that it will in 2012. I read it somewhere.

  • hehehe

that was somethin '1rendezvous'.... but on a serious note yes it is undeniable that the chinese are the masters of copying..... but it is also true that the Japs have a lot of ingenuity...

and thnx for the complement on Indian women!

  • I never drive Toyota or othr squinty eyed cars--thats how them countries build thr cars to look like thr faces-look@front headlights/bumper!Tata cars have headlights like Indian woman eyes-gorgeous!I always drive Ford&Tata car I'd buy too!Look @front of Fords like n Fusion-it's copied by Toyota&all of them!Thy'v even started copy Tata fronts/shape.That's all those othr asian countries do is steal USA like they cheat in physics class! Why do uthink thr societies r so homogenous-all look the same!

  • Arrogance is a strange thing, it had smashed and shredded the GM, Ford etc. through the hands of toyota.... and strangely after a few decades of success toyota (and its lackeys in youtube) is falling prey to that same arrogance. Do not mistake ingenuity and innovation as incompetence and cheap quality. Yes there may be starting hiccups (as TATA is new the passenger car arena) but one should not ignore the steady improvement through R&D.

  • Comment removed

  • This is not some cheap Chinese copy cat company this is stealing other's design and technology... This about workmanship and perseverance over a long time

  • hahahahhah check that front shit out .... looks like they r usin computer's fan to cool it down the engine lmao hahahhaha

  • Tata Motors is as old as Toyata; Tata Motors is founded in 1945 and concentrated on commercial vehicles for 50 years . so get your facts right before babbling nonsense.

  • Give Tata some time. Tata wasnt born in a developed and industiralized country like Japan. They are talk chances and I think it will be worth it..

  • Labor is cheap, environmental and safety regulations are lax and it's designing a car for people who've been riding on the back of noisy motorbikes. To them --- this is a step into the modern world. That said, they are going to sell a lot of these and then add some safety and emissions features and sell them globally. The impact on wages and other companies could be enormous

  • Neat car, Tata does not pay UAW wages or benefits. They do not have the EPA calling out their every other move. Makes a difference.

  • While its styling may not be world shattering -- the Nano represents a huge game changer for South Asia and an indication of the transformation that's underway around the world. Countries that once relied on bicycles, jitneys and low-powered motorcycles are entering the auto age just as the developed world is trying to grapple with the impact of global warming. This is setting the stage for an environmental, diplomatic and security nightmare. It's all about global change.

  • It's Tata, it's starts with a T. How else are you going to make a T? My God, certain people are so dumb

  • Judging from your stupid name, seems like you are a very very dumb person. Go and buy the stupid expenive lexus that you like. And no it does not look like the toyota logo. One day we will see the badge of tata on toyota cars when toyota goes bankrupt soon and Tata will buy them :)

  • haha, already have one...

You don't think it looks like a toyota logo?

Why are you putting me down when you were the one implementing the fact that TATA starts with a T, and shit talking to me on how else would they make another logo with a T...

I am not talking shit about your precious TATA buddy, I would buy one. its a perfect beater car

  • Will these be legal for use on the golf coarse. lol

  • sorry it is 50 miles per gallon

  • price and gas mileage ( 50 kms per liter) is the main attraction

  • Don't like the headlites on the Europa. Still a great achievement. Young people will snap these up instead of Vespas.

  • I give Kudos to TATA Motors! Nice little car, a nifty little recession buster.

  • beautiful, how much?

  • I think this car will be accepted , it looks very nice

  • Hi I am from UK and cant wait to buy that car.

  • in the netherlands it wont sell, or it has to cost only 2000 euro but that is impossible

we have KIA and Daiwoo Matiz, but Renault twingo is cheap and does very good, also Suzuki Alto.

If its gonna cost 4000 or more, no change.

to replace large mopeds and bikes, no change either, only old people buy them, and there are many even nicer models on the market for more than 12 years here, people wont buy from india, or it has to be half the price with good parts and service.

  • muito bom, gostei bastante

  • this is a great piece of engineering (IMO), due to the fact that it looks good and its cheap!

  • That new nano design looks super awesome!

  • i think that was the ingen

  • dammit, let's see the engine!!

  • its for middle-low class ppl u stupid,thats y its cheap-low cost

  • U a truck driver?

  • Russian technology sucks!

  • if only people had more knowledge about world outside their narrow cocoons... it's true but laughable...

  • What's more important, your life or saving $5K?

  • This model was never engineered to replace standard vehicles, it was designed as a small yet safer and more fuel efficient full automobile to replace large mopeds and bikes for masses of people who might otherwise be unable to afford one.

  • Hey I'll buy one if they'll make a convertible version, i mean for 2000 USD its ok

  • @Zeetyson ok asshole!! buy a convertible for 2000USD in ur next life

  • Pelo que acompanhei se trata de um projeto muito bem feito, é esperara para ver.

  • TATA será un exito en Spain and Europe a causa de la crisis economica y finaciera que atravesamos in the Wordl.

  • Tienes razon!

  • Sounds like Tata has found a market.

  • NANO by TATA is best suited in traffic congested streets of Manila, the problem is how will Nano perform during rainy season in Phils. where streets are flooded.

Mr. TATA your Nano cost $2000 would it be the same price when you introduced or reach the market in the Philippines?

Looking forward to see your NANO in Philippines...I'll start saving my dollar now March 27, 2009 by the time it is introduced in the Philippines i can buy 2 or 3 Nano yeheey! I'll get rid of my two wheeler bikes.

  • 2 or 3 cars?

  • Mr. Tata when can u introduce your nano in the Philippines I think it will be a big hit in my country. Filipino love motorcycle but if you introduce your nano here ,,, we will support and buy your nano. The cause of a brand new motorcycle here is $ 1,875 they modified the parts and put some accesories that cost them too much. So why will i buy a motorcycle when there is a Nano Car ... more power to you Mr Nano...

  • Yes ! A delight to see the Tata Nano along with the Smartfortwo and the Toyota iQ !! Small cars..Hybrid larger cars and all electric cars are the future !!!!

  • He is clearly giving the other automakers fits with his low cost -- potentially high volume Nano. It will be interesting to see how it all evolves and what impact it has on India and the rest of South Asia.

  • Tata is like the new Ford

    innovation at its zenith

  • The man is a genius... Can you imagine how many college mongers can afford this brand new car in USA!!! Also, ppl who come to USA from India, China, etc can a brand new world class cheap car for about $2500??? This is just incredible. I hope Tata achieves his goals. He is a great man.

  • They said the same thing about the Yugo.

  • I absolutely love this car! And by the way I'm American. Not all of us ride around in gas guzzling SUV's...many of us can't afford anything but used, beat up clunkers but ces't la vie! For me this is heaven, I have never owned a new car, could you imagine a new car for $2,000 bucks more or less. I can't wait for the American version!!!!!! Boy I need it...

  • hmm...the US version will be around $4300 as the safety standards are more stringent and te car will be slightly bigger and the base modle will have more features than the indian base moddle...

  • Comment removed

  • well, still it is cheap with all the extras !!

  • yes and no the price oof 4300... does not include the on road costs, dealer dilivery etc... and after all that you get a car that you cant drive on highways and wouldnt hold value for a long time... the reason for that is the engine... well it has a small size but size to power ratio is still crap which means that the engine runs under allot of stress and deteriorates really quickly... therefore the cars engine will not last that long...

  • It will be interesting to see how these cars fare under real world conditions. The NY Times reviewer drove one and was surprised by how peppy it was. That said, it's likely to lure a lot of people off of motorbikes and into an auto for the first time and that will forever alter the landscape of India and South Asia.

  • i doubt they would bother marketing a vehicle in a nation where the majority of the population would find it an inferior good compared to the domestic product.

I do think the exported models will be heavily modified, the lower price comes a large part from far lower production costs, not just fewer/smaller parts.

  • If you need a car but previously couldn't afford one, then you'll buy it. Tata has opened up an entirely new section of the market with such a low cost vehicle

  • Plz elaborate as how its better.

  • @ kyakya99

hahaha american version is doubtful besides for you it will cost about $5000. Even if you can get the car then it won't be below 2011. The European/American version costs higher because they have more features, more powerful engine, better ride quality than that of Indian which costs about $2250-3000 depending on the variant.

  • @kyakya99 American version will cost more than $ 2000. May be around $ 6000, with American safety standard, so dont get so exicted.

  • @jerry2398 Well I guess we'll have to see then, but to you and Anmol34, I STILL like it and I'm still excited AND it's still cheaper than the rest of the overpriced vehicles on the road here...I mean a new car for under 10 stacks that gets you from point A to B is still a good deal...and speaking of tiny basic cars, have you seen the so-called SmartCar, it barely fits two people and check out the price on that baby...

  • Its very nice car !...........is the car of the future for us, people of Emergent Markets. The other peoples, like Europe or USA, will go in bicycle..........hehe !

  • what a beauty

  • This is a good socially responsible company, moving ahead in the right direction, best of luck to Tata.

  • Tata is the next big thing!

  • flip2mac ..TATA is a BIG thing already having bought Jaguar and Land Rover...

Mr.TATA should be nominated in Nobel Peace Price for this..in uplifting the living stardard of people by providing affordable cars and making the lives of ordinary people a lot easier in commuting of course....BRAVO MR. TATA...

  • Will be interesting to see if this becomes the world's next "peoples car."

  • Like the white one better
