And in the archaeological digs they've made since Troy's discovery, it seems that Homer's Iliad (which made the story of the war famous) was entirely not inaccurate. The text's geographical descriptions were fairly accurate and a set of ruins in named Troy VII shows that the city was destroyed by war around the time Homer claimed it happened.
