mm master of puppets wasn't bad. His drumming on Metallica was decent too.

Metallica didn't require an exceptionally fast drummer or musically gifted guy, just an aggressive and sloppy player which Lars is. Remember they were equally balanced between punk/speed stuff like Misfits and Motorhead as well as more technical and melodic stuff like Maiden to BOC and Tull.
