@supersanchez1991 No..1 oscar will outgrow a 55 gallon in a years time easily. A 55 gallon has a 12" width footprint. A full grown oscar can easily reach 15+ inches with good care. You'll end up stunting its growth. Oscars are prone to HITH because they are messy eaters, produce massive bioloads, and people don't give them enough water changes. If you can fit a 55 gallon then you can fit a 75/ 90 gallon. It's not that much more expensive. Same length..but much wider width....18" instead of 12"
Oh he is magnificent. He seems to get along with your big Tiger Oscar too. I use to own an Albino Oscar who looked a lot like yours. If fighting gets to rough make sure you take him out though, he is smaller then your other two by quite a bit. Also make sure your tank lid is tight, I once added a new Oscar to my tank, my others got so mad they CHASED him out of the tank, I had two bricks on the top of the tank and he hit it so hard trying to escape it knocked both of them off and he leaped out.
hey do u think i could add 2 oscars(1 albino,1 ruby .babies) to my 40 gallon fluval vicenza aquarium in my tank now are 4 blood parrots and a baby green terror and a sml goldspot plecostomas( all my fish are under 6 inches atm) and keep the oscars in it for at least 6 months? i have 2 filters 1 large fluval 205 canister external filter and a fluval internal filter and i do 30% water change every week and i feed my fish red and green hikari floating cichlid pellets, tetra prima and other foods to
Hey I got an oscar a month ago and its in a 25 gallon tank but he is only 5 in long but eventually I'm going to put him in a 55 gallon tank but that is not my problem I have a air pump, perfect temp, perfect ph, plants, a filter, and a light. My problem is that I've had this fish for a month and everytime he sees me in the room he goes straight to the bottom and plays dead what can I do for him to stop that?
Cool. im setting mine up the same way.. i dont want 2 of the same oscars... i currently have a red tiger, red, golden, and a wild oscar... i just need an albino now..
hey i have a question. i just bought 2 oscar tiger but i'm getting my 50 gallon tank ready. So i put my oscar tiger in a 10 gallon tank temporally for about 1 week now. And one of them is starting to attack the other one. i dont know why its happening is it becasue there not enough room? or well they keep doing it when they're in the 50 gal tank?
LOL my oscars are the same size (small 3-4 inches) in a 32 gallon! they dont attack each other, and there is a fully grown angel in there as well. if they have lived together they may either have a like/dislike for each other, if u buy them young, you can train them to get on, with each other or other fish. works best with cichlids since they are cichlids, im training my fish to get on with convicts, calvus, frontosa, hap and buttikoferi for when i get my 300 gal tropical pond
In response to Redoscar21: I currently only have the Tiger & Red Oscar, Green Terror and 3 Tinfoil Barbs. I let go of some of the other fish. Either way, look at your african cichlid tank, talk about over stocked? Either way it's all good. 125 gallon tank is big and with the proper filtration and mix of fish it's not a bad thing.
most likely you will never know the sex of ur oscars its very difficult to distinguish between them by physical characteristics alone... there are some known physical features that may be viewed as different among the sexes but for the msjority of cases its just a shot in the dark...
i got a red oscar and a tiger oscar, their doing good i dont know if their male or female yet. their tanks mates are 1 jack dempsey, red severum, rhino pleco, and a texas cichlid
Great, enjoy your oscar! A nice tank mate to add would be a nice little jack dempsey or a convict. After that, don't add much of anything else and you'll be ok so long as you have ample filtration. Again, enjoy! They grow fast!
Thank you I just got him yesterday. He is doing very well and he eats like CRAZY! I think I will get a little jack dempsey because I like their color. Thanks again.
Well, I got the Tiger and Red oscar when they were approx 1" and they've made a bond since that time. I added 2 more big Oscar's (you can see in more recent videos) and it's a miracle that they all get along fine. I would say to get a big enough tank, put sufficient decor / plants / rocks and feed them well and you should be fine. Oscar's seem to be mostly bark but now bite. They open their mouths but rarely do any damage, so don't panic if you ever see your O's barking at one another.
ii see u have two filters right? are those good enought to keep the water clean?

You need to redesign the tank. Fish are great but the tank looks like a random goldfish tank.
