Fail on the part of flight lead (opening sequence) Never put a slick in front of ESSS birds in a formation. Didn't the Hawaii formation crash teach us anything?
big time fail on the part of flight lead (opening sequence) Never put a slick as lead in front of the ESSS birds. Didn't the Hawaii formation crash teach you anything?
@ 0:46 we did this when i was in the Army. It was a Cargo Container instead of a Humvee. I remember just making sure to to hit the hook with the grounding rod so the hookup man didn't get a zap. It was the coolest thing I ever did so far.
Well in a sense this helicopter is Russian, well Russian-American. It's made by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, an American company and founded by Igor Ivanovich Sikorsky, you can guess where he's from.. Russia (Kiev, Ukraine) :P
The Air Force does fly PJ's and CCT's, and they do have helicopters, but if they are in the AO of the Army the Army does the flying. In 1993 during the battle of Mogadishu 12 Air Force PJ's were inserted to the first crash site via a UH-60 Blackhawk from the 160th SOAR, the US Army Nightstalkers. The Air Force is trained to fly the PJ's in if the Army has no helos ready to go, but that is a rare occurance. When outside the AO, the Air Force flies their own men, but they dont fly blackhawks
Erm yes, good point, it would seem fitting that the 160th SOAR would do most of the flying since their name is Special Operations Aviation Regiment; plus they are regarded as pretty much the cream of the crop. You make a good point americanHumvees.
IIRC, doesn't the USAF use the HH60 pavehawk which is just a upgraded UH60 blackhawk? I assume they'd transport PJ's and CCT's with the pavehawk since the only other option would be the MH53 pavelow right?
the air force fly's a modified MH-60, on the side of what looks like an army black hawk it says USAF (United States Air Force), they had to do an emergency landing on the base i was at in Afghanistan and I had to fix their Blackhawk. I was as shocked as all of you are. but i saw it with my own eyes. they gun 50 cal machine guns and have an in air re-fuel pod on them.
Dropped the turn buckles on all the loads.

@akheloce a slick?

@stevenschnare A slick is a bird that is strictly a transport. So it doesnt have the wings on it for weapons other than the crew chiefs guns.

No Mi-8 or 18. Are you talking about the Mi-26 that huge one? That's not really utility it's equivalent to the Chinook.

Well... you're technically correct, they do not fly BLACK Hawks, they fly PAVE Hawks.
However, they are both H-60s, so only in the literal sense of the name, does the AF not fly the Black Hawk.
