I was in a record store a while ago and saw there was an E.M record in there, forgot which one, I am going to buy it the next time I go there. Thanks for posting. Awesome song.
@spacegrape Thank you for your comment. For me and many others Essra Mohawk is the ultimate artist who has literally done it all yet still is not a houselhold name. Enjoy "Raindance" and then dive into "Primordial Lovers" that has been called the mother album of "grrrl power." It's incredible...
@kevos2710 Thank you Kev & I am glad you enjoyed it! But keep in mind that Essra's demo cost a few hundred bucks while I think Tina's was $60,000 if I recall correctly. Take care.
for some reason I'll never forget the day I heard THUNDER IN THE MORNING broadcast over WMMR back in the 70's..amazing...I just loved it and never forgot it.. Enjoy my PACK IT UP song..song about going home...everyone is determined to go home..so I also gave the song a determined sound...you'll see what I mean.. ENJOY!
Awesome performance by the fabulous singer/songwriter Essra Mohawk singing a great song she composed. She was once a member of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention. Thank you, fecinny, for keeping the torch burning for her devoted fans.
Me & many others have loved it for a lon g time now. Wouldn't it be a good fit if they used it in the Tina Turner play they've been talking about for years now?
A very talented lady. I hope CBGB's paid her. I heard the Dragon Lady had a habit of not paying, no matter who you were. Anyhoo, thank you for this timeless piece ~(:Dc
wow this girl is GOOD!! I've only ever heard Tina Turner's version, but wow this girl is good.........she have any CD's out for sale???? thanks for uploading and sharing this

Great song. I knew the Tina Turner version but had never heard the original. I got a copy of Raindance recently and really dig the whole album.

She has a great voice, sounds better than Cher and doesn't look like a mannequin.
It takes guts to do a Tina Turner song too.
This is an excellent version. Thank you.

Hi
This is music pure.
None of those electronic helpers and mixingthings that make Gertrudes voice to a second Ella Fizgerald are needet.
Nicely done.

Essra has always been one of music's best keep secrets. She should be a name everyone knows.
From her unique voice to her expressive writing
she will always be one of my faves!!
