This commercial is totally inaccurate and offensive. "We didn't wait for someone else to guarantee civil rights." This statement is utterly ludicrous. YES we did wait to guarantee civil rights. Many Americans (not all) and the government were TOTALLY OPPOSED to guaranteeing civil rights. Besides that, how the fuck could we have waited for "someone else" AKA another country to guarantee civil rights to AMERICANS. I'm all for solving global warming and pollution, but this commercial is flawed.

Global warming would hurt business because that would mean they have to spend more on cleaner energy and slow down their production to preserve resources. Business would not want people to believe in global warming. The government would not want people to believe in global warming either because they wont be able to sell as much oil. You can't rely everything on one partisan documentary.

Unless you are talking about the middle east or Russia or Venezuela, the government loves global warming. It allows government to take a bigger part of our lives. Government loves to grow. Global warming provides a path for that growth.

No, I was really just thinking about the history of government. Government loves to get bigger. It's not so much a conspiracy as a natural tendency for a number of reasons. People want their own jobs to be more important. One way to do that is to make more jobs under you. People want to have more promotion opportunities for subordinates. See the last sentence. People want to do good things for society so the create new government programs.

Most of these things are misguided and just lead to more government spending and red tape that stands in the way of the society they are trying to make better. Socialism was created for good reasons for example. Some people still believe in it. It has a great appeal and is easy to sell. In most of the world, we just take little tiny pieces of it

When I hear an argument against the scientific consensus on global warming it tends to be supported by conspiracy theory, non-peer reviewed science, information taken out of context, etc. That's gullible.
