So i'm just wondering why there is hate comments on a video of a tornado. Its a freaking tornado, are you being serious. Tornados are scary, no matter what. People who live in MA (including me) are not used to tornados. Its just a plain fact. We dont get tornados. I was scared, so what? I live in Southbridge in the Rosemeade apartments & our place was destroyed. I never saw the tornado, I didn't need to. The sound it made produces a thousand images in my mind. There was an entire forest 10 feet behind my apartment that has been reduced to rubble. I have glass & rocks embedded in my walls from the windows shattering. For 20 seconds, my husband, my 11 month old son & I hovered in our bathroom, where I was certain we would die. If that is 'nothing' to anyone, you are soul-less.
If you look at the data, this supercell and tornado was quite powerful even for tornado alley standards. A strong EF3 is nothing to sneeze at, very destructive and deadly by any standards.

Our tornadoes tend to look a bit more threatening than this one, but from what I have heard the tornadoes that hit MA killed some and injured a lot more. I am used to being under tornado warnings all the time, and yet it still scares the piss out of me when we get them. So I can understand that this must have been ten times scarier for the ppl in this area that are not accustomed to tornadoes. Those in this area are in my thoughts.
Actually, past history has shown that tornados are more frequent in New England than most people realize. The 1950s and 1960s were relatively very active with tornadic activity. Since 1990 and especially 1995, the past 15 years have been quiet- until this year.

@ gregalex 09... let me just say that here in New England, this crap doesn't happen often... throw us a noreaster any day and we will know what to do with it... throw us a twister and it's kind of a big deal. If we actually HAD tornado sirens here we certainly wouldn't ignore them like some other states do. just sayin'. Hope all my fellow New Englanders in western MA are recovering and rebuilding.

I know, all of you people in the center of the US are watching this going, "Seriously? This is NOTHING!" To us, it is. We pretty much never get tornadoes, and this was pretty scary for us. I know, say what you want, and how Joplin's was much worse. Whatever.

@CookiesCritters I live in the Midwest. In Missouri to be exact. Our tornadoes tend to look a bit more threatening than this one, but from what I have heard the tornadoes that hit MA killed some and injured a lot more. I am used to being under tornado warnings all the time, and yet it still scares the piss out of me when we get them. So I can understand that this must have been ten times scarier for the ppl in this area that are not accustomed to tornadoes. Those in this area are in my thoughts.

Actually, past history has shown that tornados are more frequent in New England than most people realize. The 1950s and 1960s were relatively very active with tornadic activity. Since 1990 and especially 1995, the past 15 years have been quiet- until this year.

Yes some parts of the country get more and even bigger tornadoes we get them here in kentucky ( I was born and raised in Springfiled) , but some of those tornadoes also make landfall in non populated or sprasly populated area, these hit densly populated cities at rush hour!!!!!

@hack4tehlulz Oh Yes I agree you do get worse in Texas, but the point is a woman died in the Springfiled tornado while protecting her child , three other people died durning the storm, so people are a little upset when others call them names for being freightened or upset! this size /magnatude tornado is not common to the new England area , and so people are in awe of its strength and size , as well as affraid because as I said Tornadoes of this size are not cmmon to the area!!

@KaileyAndJustin Oh no i we were on our way home from school, and thanks, yea i was on state street and i was reading posts on Facebook saying "springfield people believe everything their isnt going to be a tornado" then when i looked toward AIC i saw it coming down i was so scared. lol i was one of the sophomores screaming at the bus driver to turn the other way but she didn't listen instead she went the same direction the tornado was in.

first power out:GASP!!!!! (5 seconds later) power back on
20 mins later (power out) GASP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (nd we were in the basement so it was dark!)

I was in my basement when this happened and I was FREAKINGGGGGGGGGGGGG out. I thought we were gonna get hit, but we didn't. We got a lot of hail, and heavy winds, but we didn't get the tornado. I hope everybodies okay<3
