@IsaacDLovesChrist No, it's different. The "Feature: Genomics - the next generation" on the Wellcome website offers quite a good explanation of 454, so you can see how they differ :)

why do you need templated beads?

@lbkorny one bead contains a singular fragmented dna-strang. the bead which contains this single fragment binds to the surface that you can sequence it. without the bead the dna would swim around and couldn´t be detected.
