Jim Reeves is a legend . The country music today is not country , The way they dress was dignafied. today they dress way to casual. like skid road bum!!!!!!!
The thing that I find fascinating about this song is just how big of a hit this apparently was in 1960. It went to #2 on the Hot 100 and was the second biggest hit that year (behind only Percy Faith's "Theme from a Summer Place). I am still having a hard time believing that a country song could get that popular. I guess times were different in 1960.
@carmelarouk well said!! songs like this (those from the 50's to the 60's) were part of my childhood, and i'm only fourteen years old. i remember back then when i'm in our car with my granpa driving, listening to the classic songs. i even recall that his lullabye to me was "rose tattoo," though sadly i don't know the singer.
sometimes, when i want to take a break from today's techno pop (or anything like that), i would go to my grandparents' computer and listen to.....
This song was released in 1959. The recording in this song was technologically ahead at that time because most artists (especially country music artists) at that time used the acoustic double bass. In this recording session, Jim Reeves used the electric bass.
Not only is this the hit rendition heard that we heard on the radio, but the audio quality is also excellent! Thank you, countrypete27, for posting it!

@carmelarouk to be honest, this is real music. People today prefer junk like Miley Cyrus or Britney Spears and don't realize what they are missing.

Simply fabulous, the best three voices of the last 60 years: Jim Reeves, Nat King Cole and Matt Monro and they all died too soon. Tragic.
