Mr. Bailey is my teacher. Be careful when you criticize this master of the instrument because he will put anyone in there place very fast. Just speaking with him is a true honor let alone being his student.

I would say that they are winners in two ways: (1) they are being led by Maestro Michael Nowak, and (2) they were privileged to have a guest cellist Zuill Bailey.

he held a masterclass at the Winston-Salem Youth Symphony, I was in the symphony at the time!! Oh he was amazing even conducted our orchestra!! Down to earth too, offered me cashews when I talked to him after practice! Most amazing cellist ever!! Beats Yo-Yo Ma in my book, plays with much more passion, passion that feels and looks real!! Ma, sometimes looks fake to me.

Holy man, he makes it look so easy! I don't think he overdramatizes. Tchaikovsky is actually kind of schmaltzy as a composer, he's easy to overdramatize.

I have been to so many a performance where the cellist was stoic and still.... The fact that Zuill FEELS his music and plays with PASSION is a wonderful thing to be heard AND seen... this is not "over dramatization" this is an example of someone who LOVES this music and is able to convey that to his audience! Yes he is fantastic AND he is NEVER boring to watch ;-)

dude...calm down. It's not like Zuill Bailey's trying to insult you with his playing. He's just putting his interpretation out there, and I'm sure there are "better" interpretations, but if you don't like it, okay. Don't be an ass about it.
