I love this song! I was wondering who the singer was of this song and now I know from people on Youtube!! Ron Marshall had a beautiful singing voice....sadly I can't find much info on him through the internet....It is amazing that this one song can bring a tear to my eye EVERYTIME I listen to it! Just a beautiful song...Thank You Mr. Marshall.....
I never believed in Santa Claus as a physical Person comming down the Chimney, Still don't, But I do believe in Santa Claus as a symbol, the symbol of the spirit of Christmas. Giving, Carring, Jollieness, Selflesness, Love, all part of the spirit of Christmas. Right behined the birth of Christ. Merry Christmas evryone!
Thank you so much for posting this. Ron Marshall was my father, and I am as moved by hearing him sing this song as everyone else. He's been gone over ten years now and I so look forward to seeing this show each season. I own the video but I have taken a vow only to watch it at Christmas time. He is also , by the way, the character voice of the mayor of the town, both speaking and the singing of "Snow in Southtown"
@1diagram I just love this song and think your father has such a beautiful singing voice. I've looked all over the net to see what else he's done and unfortunately there isn't a lot out there about your father. I've posted this song on my face book page and listen to it every day and ultimately the song goes through my head throughout the day.
I have watched this special every year since I was born (that's 17 years now) and it doesn't feel like Christmas til I see this. It makes it so much better because last year I went to one of the local elementary schools and a kid said he didn't believe and i showed him this video and as he started crying he told me "if you're not to old to believe, neither am I. I can't wait until I meet him one day." It brought a tear to my eye when the little guy hugged me and said "I believe."
ive watched this special every year since i can remember and im going to watch it for the rest of my life. my kids will watch with me even if i have to duck tape them to a couch :p (crying a little)
@Barrakaflaka14 one thing I love about the Tim Allen version is the line that his son tells his little sister. Most kids stop believing in Santa when they grow up, but I get to believe for ever
I'm 17 years old and I still believe in Santa! ^.^ He'll never fade away, and I hope my future children won't stop believing in Santa Clause either! :)
@madisonthehedgehog He is real and I know it, me,my Family and my friends believe in him. Don't give up hope. I seen proof of him (I actually got his Hair piece in a Glass of Milk.) I just wonder how many families in the World do believe in Santa....
Thumbs up to everyone who posted positive things about this classic Christmas show. These bring back such good memories for so many of us who grew up watching all these shows every year.
I'm nearly fifty, and I'm not ashamed to say I believe in Santa Claus. The world would be a sad and miserable place without him. God bless him and all the joy he brings.
I believe in Santa Clause, though I'm in my 20s. To me, this song says that Santa is not a person, but he is the peak of childhood innocence and happiness, everything that makes childhood so magical. Santa is also the spread of joy and love around the world in the mist of the otherwise difficult winter season. Putting it like that, Santa truly dose exist. Just listen to the lyrics.
“I believe in Santa Clause like I believe in love”
“What is happiness but dreams, and do they all come true?”
I am a college student and I still believe in Santa,, I live by this part of the song ",, For what is happiness but dreams until they all come true.. look at me and tell me Son.. what is real to you?" I know happiness is dreams until they all come true.. but How about you?
anytime time some says something about santa i say then what is real to you ? works everytime i will always believe in santa and i am in college this world is a harsh and cold place we all need a little magic
@mikepep33 You obviously don't understand. Santa Claus represents love, joy, and all the positives of the world, believing in Santa Claus means believing in all of that. The song tells us that. I'm not trying to make you look bad, not all. I just want to teach you something interesting.
@OpiumpLayground4life There's something you don't understand, Santa Claus represents the love, joy, and all the positives of the world. Believing in Santa Claus means believing all of that. I'm not trying to make you look bad, I'm just trying to tell you and everyone something interesting.
Ron Marshall thank you for one of the best vocals ever! Love it! As a kid I loved the Miser songs, but now this is the highlight and brings me to tears
I don't believe in Santa as an actual person but more of a benevolent spirit of the season that brings joy and presents (not always in the form of wrapped gifts) to those that believe and deserve.
The magic of childhood is so short compared to the harsh reality of the world we face as adults...I do everything I can to make sure my girls believe that way I did...Shame on all of you who are condemning the innocence and magic of such a wondrous season...!
we were at a Christmas parade in my town this year with most of the extended family. my cousins boyfriend, within earshot of my little nieces and nephews mind said "too bad hes not real"we all stare at him dumbstruck until i said "looks like someones just made the naughty list for lying"
I watched a show on the History Channel on "The History of Christmas" I hated it so much I had to go and listen to this song over and over =] It was a nice show to watch, but I like the magic and everything.
@Shaddow1966 Of course! She and Nightfall are two of my favorite elf characters. I can't wait for them to go on and make the movie; I'm running out of comics. lol
@moonshade1992 The entire run of all the Elfquest books can be found online at the Pinis website elfquest.com Cutter and Skywise were two of my faves, Cutter always reminded me of an Elfish version of Khan from Star Trek LOL. And of course Leetah was a cute Elf as well.
Why dont they make movies like this anymore?? What happened to movies that had a story line that MEANT SOMETHING?!?! Even as simple as having an imagination and seeing with your heart and not your eyes, "Believing is seeing, but seeing isn't believing - (The Santa Claus, 2, and 3)" Now everyone wants a damn explanation for everything. Its sad the lack of imagination this world has anymore.
I believe in santa clause! He was a real person at one time but even more so, he lives in your heart, my grandma used to tell me he lives in your heart and he is the spirit of Christmas. I'll always remember that, she and I used to watch this movie every year. I love it and sometimes I cry a little bc of the memory.
I'm 14 years old and I even have a t-shirt with santa on it that says, I Believe. Daddy doesn't approve, and that always makes me wish my mom was still alive, she always encouraged magic, so I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE!!
Positive. When I go out. I want the world to know that to the very end I believed with all my heart in the purest form of child-like wonder, peace, love and happiness. Despite the blanket of darkness that I kept around my heart, they should all remember that at the very core, the spark of light was there.
I really like this song. Santa Clause is real even just in idea. He represents innocense and kindness and thats really something you don't see much anymore. Nobody should be to old to beleive in Santa Clause.
The Rudolph special is more popular than this one. But listen to this song and tell me if there are any moments in Rudolph that are as emotionally profound and moving as this. The sad, poignant quality of the song underscores what this song is about, namely loss of innocence. I love the line about "all the things that make a life worthwhile," which elevates the song into a kind of philosophical plane that the Rudolph special doesn't come within a million miles of.
i love this song i have always believed in santa even i help him every year by being a santa myself then he doesn't have to travel to to many places i can help him and i am alot like him myself. i love giving i love everything and i want peace happiness and all that one day maybe i will meet him and thank him for everything.
I'm a 13 year old girl and "I believe in santa clause and everything he does I believe in santa clause like I believe in love. There's no question in my mind that he does exsist just like love I know he's there waiting to be missed" I BELIEVE ALL THE WAY :-)
^-^ This song just tells people, "Believe in what YOU believe, not what others tell MAKE you believe. ^-^ Tears come to my eyes when I hear "He's not real!" or at school, kids are calling me a little child because I believe in 'somthing my mom and dad are doing' Well, heres what I believe~
Santa can't come to EVERY house in the world, so he must ask the moms and dads of the kids who are bad to give them what they need. Thats, why they think he's not real!
Also, people say, "No human on earth can live in the north pole." Well, who said his a human? I believe he's the Spirit of Joy and Winter! ^-^ I'm in middle school, and I still believe in Santa Claus!
I was at my panto rehersals last night, and i asked all the kids what Santa was getting them. They all told me i was silly, cos Santa isnt real. I felt like crying, but remembering this film, i used almost these exact lyrics (not singing, im not that sad) thinking that it may change their minds. They told me i was a liar.... all hope is lost for ole st nick. I believe in you Santa, even if they dont. xxx
It's ok. Some people just don't know the true meaning of Christmas, Believing. If I was there, I would be like, "Now, why do you think this nice person asked what some one was giving you for X-mas if he didn't esised? Hu?" I believe! *hugs*
good job. I mean it's better than most of the crap people believe in. There was never a time when the santa believers burnt people at the stake or took their land in the name of santa. You don't have to give up your sundays for santa just try to be good. In the list of beliefs santa is pretty top of the line.
I love this movies at Christmas time...or better yet, all year around. This song gives me chills. =] thank you so much for posting. This is a true classic.
I swear, the world has changed since this song came out. There has never been anything that has captured the innocence of a child and warmth of the Christmas season as this song has. I hope that days like these return. We need more Santa Clas in our lives
OMG, that's exactly the line that gets me, "so you're too old for Santa Claus, he said with a smile, then you're too old for all the things that make a life worth while, for what is happiness but dreams, and do they all come true, look at me, and tell me son, what is real to you?"
Nice song. Has anyone ever covered it? (I mean this song. There are other songs with the same title but they are different songs with a different melodies.)
ron marshall and mickey rooney created a gift of christmas joy for all of us to treasure forever. this is what the holiday season is truly all about. yes, there is a santa claus. just as long as there are dreams and love in the world, santa will still exist. amen!
More people need to believe in Santa. The Joy he represents spreads all around us. :')

I'll probably always believe. :/
I had a boyfriend once that told me he didn't believe, and that if we had kids he wouldn't allow them to believe.
We're broken up now.
And my current love, believes all the way [:

Santa came into my room one night when I was a kid too. Now I believe in Santa Claus. I also cry every Thursday night.

---------------------------
Just like love I know he's there~
Waiting to be missed~

I swear, the world has changed since this song came out. There has never been anything that has captured the innocence of a child and warmth of the Christmas season as this song has. I hope that days like these return. We need more Santa Clas in our lives

i love the part that says, if your too old for santa claus, then your too old for all the things that make a life worth wild.
krystalloveselvis 2 years ago 8
OMG, that's exactly the line that gets me, "so you're too old for Santa Claus, he said with a smile, then you're too old for all the things that make a life worth while, for what is happiness but dreams, and do they all come true, look at me, and tell me son, what is real to you?"
Jukka70 2 years ago 6
Nice song. Has anyone ever covered it? (I mean this song. There are other songs with the same title but they are different songs with a different melodies.)

I love what Santa does. He gives toys to all the kids in the world. He was never asked or made to do this he just chose to have
