Why in the world would you keep or kill such a beautiful fish? Not to eat I hope! Barracuda’s are carriers. Can you say ciguatera? A toxin that comes from algae that grows on some corals. The toxin accumulates in fish tissue as they eat other fish. Fish poisoning includes nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and numbness, joint and muscle pain, headache, reversal of hot and cold sensations and in rare cases, death. Feel Lucky? CPR or just go home!

@1331GAA The smaller ones are safe to eat and are better tasting than snapper. Personally I wouldnt be too afraid of the big ones unless they were really big and caught well offshore where they could possibly feed on rock fish. Ive eaten them my whole life. I do however stick to smaller ones caught normally on the gulf side in the keys. I threw one back a week ago that was about 4' and a little out of my comfort zone as far as a meal goes.
