Imagine people who stay at resorts on islands that are hit by hurricane. They are literally stuck there fighting Mother Nature. These people should consider themselves lucky as the ship was able to take them to a safer place.
I wonder if the passengers in the Carnival Pride ship are rioting right now after having to miss Nassau, Bahamas because of Hurricane Irene.
I am so glad and happy that I took the Carnival Pride cruise two weeks earlier (8/7 - 8/14) when we just missed Tropical Storm Emily after it dissipated and we managed to see all three ports of call (Port Canaveral, Nassau, Freeport).
My Wife and I have been on several Carnival Cruises. We even had to postpone one because of a Hurricane. Big deal. We were on one that caught the tail end of a Hurricane. About 6 hours of rough seas. Again, big deal. Our safety is their #1 concern. Then our enjoyment. Damn, I was going to Nassau but ended up in Belize. I want a refund. I'm gonna sue. I' m gonna show the world what a sumb ass I really am.
Not only did these people screw this cruise up for them selfs but the others on the cruise too. Ive been on a cruise ship durring hurricane ses, and never have i seen a bunch of ADULTS act like this. Grown up and realize that if the captin had made the choice that he did people could have died. Im sorry but im saying this i hope that cranival didnt refund anyone and the people who wanted to make the big deal got thrown off the ship at the next port of call. all I can say is this is SAD
The Captain is right, they are a bunch of idiots. Let's risk the safety of the ship and passengers because you self entitled bitches are upset. Get a fucking life! This si the risk of cruising... weather and safety at ports.
this is stupid the captin and crew and probably the owners of company made a decision to divert it was wrong, so what get over it everyone makes mistakes
I am assuming by the comments that the crowd is outraged because the ship couldn't dock at the scheduled ports of call because of a hurricane. I have heard the term 'ugly American" but never witnessed until I saw this video. The fact is, Carnival cannot rule mother nature, but Carnival does give you the option of insurance, and you SHOULD buy it if you book during hurricane season. Take some responsibility for your own choices and next time don't be cheap and book another time of the year.
I just want to add that anytime during a Carnival Cruise you may end your cruise at any of the ports of call for a refund on the amount of time not spent on board. For example on a 7 day $700 cruise and you end you cruise on the second day, then you get back $500. If it was that big of a deal everyone should have terminated their cruise at the first port of call.
bunch of cry baby idiots. cruise lines cant control the weather. you want to sail into a hurricane?? fine, take your own damn boat then. some people will never grow up. acting like a bunch of spoiled 2 year olds
@sseras401 no crap! HOWEVER when you book the cruise in your contract that you sign...it states that the line has a right to change ports cancell ports etc. they had to cancel ports and change some due to the weather!! how can people get so childish about that! its not the cruise lines fault that i missed mexico due to the swine flu..did i act like this?? NO i recieved my credit that was offered due to the contract and enjoyed my vacation
I was on that boat and most of the people on the reacted the wrong way but the crew did nothing to help us out and the captain was arrogant regarding the whole situation. The least they could have have was bought every passenger a drink. Most of the people..at least half.(not me) with held there tips and recieved some money back. I think $180 per couple.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Typical Carnival..letting these situations fester to the point of near pandamonium. They'd rather risk a riot in these situations than to do something, ANYTHING to satisfy disgruntled clients. These videos have become common place for Carnival..the almighty buck rules with them I guess or else these videos would not appear.
Carnival always puts money ahead of passenger satisfaction.
These videos are commonplace? Will you please direct me to the other ones? Based on your comment, it seems you know how much money was spent, how many passengers were actually satisfied, and Carnival's history. Of course, I'm sure you know all the facts, you wouldn't just make assumptions, right?
That is the risk of sailing during hurrican season. They should be thankful that the did not force the matter and ended up dead. I understand that you went to new england as supose to the caribean but hey Your on a boat bitch relax. and the crew woulda probably hooked them up with credits and free stuff anyway if they didn't act like animals. Humans, What a dumb species
It wasnt the captains fault at all, There is higher authority than him and he was NOT AUTHORIZED to stop at any ports. The people should have realized this when they were cheap and booked during hurricane season. I just got back yesterday from a cruise on the carnival miracle and it was wonderful. The staff was great and so was the captain
How do you please these people? They switched the ports around for safety reasons, the weather was too bad to go to the Caribbean, so the people complain about that. Had they gone south anyway, and through the storm, passengers would have been up in arms about having been thrown around in a storm, with a lot of damage to the ship.
Really people. Get a life, yah the captain ordered that weather. You know you teach people how to treat you. Act like an ass and get treat like an ass. I do a lot of cruising and I hope to god none of you are on the same ship as me. I like to have a good time no matter what. I guess in a lot of ways were alike. looks like you guys like to complain no matter what.
ROFL what happened? Did they change their ports or something? The carnival cruise I went on a few years ago changed its ports due to another hurricane to ports that I already went to and I still had a blast.
its amazing how pathetic some people react, its not the cruise lines fault that the weather is so bad they have to divert, some people are so stupid that when i was on voyager of the seas a few years back some woman complained to the purser when we were in rough seas in a hurricane because the ship "shook a bit" and i know this is true because i was there when she complained lol. some people just like an excuse to complain if you ask me.
I feel terribly for these passengers. I also understand after reading several accounts that Carnival's handling of the matter and their communication left a great deal to be desired.
That said, these people OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED of themselves! I kept looking for Jerry Springer!
I was on RCI's Enchantment of the Seas during Hurricane Ike. Grand Cayman closed, so we managed only 1 port stop, then 4 days solid in very rough seas. We still had a great time thanks to their awesome crew & ship!
its is reasonable to change ports- YES- that are comparable to the scheduled ports of call-IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO TAKE A SHIP SAILING OUT OF MANHATTAN TO RHODE ISLAND!
If that is the only available open port then thats where they go. They should have brought the ship back to nyc and got rid of the lower class assholes that are on this video.....God willing they will never cruise again so I won't have to be with them!
People are crazy!!!! It clearly states in your cruise documents (which is also known as a cruise contract, and once you except those and board the ship they are binding)that the cruiseline has the right to change their itinerary. Any reasonable person would understand that if you are going to cruise in the Caribbean June-November you are running the risk of a hurricane. Be thankful that you were on a ship, it can move around a storm, whereas if you did a resort stay, the island can't.
Imagine people who stay at resorts on islands that are hit by hurricane. They are literally stuck there fighting Mother Nature. These people should consider themselves lucky as the ship was able to take them to a safer place.

You are far better off going to Maryland than Puerto Rico. Consider the storm a stroke of good luck :)
