Does the mother survive this process and if so would she then ever be able to produce another calf again due to the strain on her body? Great video, very interesting.
Dear friends greetings. Have you read: The Lord Christ Jesus Was A Vegan and The Christian Vegan Revised Psalms both books by Saba? If not we suggest you do. All farm animals should not be exploited, nor killed for food but loved, respected and kept alive. Human beings should not breed animals either but serve Christ in them. Please go Christian Vegan for the sake of God's lasting Kingdom.
@MegaBrydie I hope you're not saying what they did to the mother cow was cruel, because what they did saved this life of both the mother and calf. You'd rather die with your unborn child than have a C-section?
@volizaable Ofcourse noth?? why are you thinking that the farmer will do a operation like this that coush a loth of money and than afther it bring the cow tho the slaughter? They just stitches the cow probably and the cow need 1/2 week some medicans and a good keeping eye from the farmer so it wont geth infected and than there is nothing wrong with the cow and you can keep him ;) (sorry for bad inglesh i am from netherlannds)
@jtdc86 Because of the enourmes muscles on, her normal "opening" for the calf is to tight. These cows has no limitations for their muscle growth, because they are missing a gene called myostatin. They are a mutation
Did you cast the cow/not have a crush? Or did the vets just go ahead with the cow lying down? Just wondering cos I've only seen C-sections from standing but this seems pretty good.
i just bought 2 bb calf but they r out off British Friesian and Holstein-Friesian so they born natruely, hope to own lots of purebreed bb when iam older caesarean is alot of work but i think bb r the best breed of beef catle
As for the surgery and the birth - all three parties have intervened without any Gege hygiene and gloves in the cow around her belly - you would have thought, there are butchers at work.
Have to say much about all the parties involved do not.
@halima1968 i've seen many operations on cattle, never once have i saw a vet use gloves, they use loads of disinfectant, and disinfectant on the area where they operate. and never once have i seen an animal die from anything related to infection from the wound, never.
your clearly talking out of your arse, we were all scrubbed down with surgical disinfectant, the cow was in perfect health and remains in perfect health, stick to your toy poodle mate and not with matters that you cant comprehend!
Bulled?? Holstein Friesian?? Read the description you foul mouthed illiterate. 1st she is a Simmental X 2nd they were embryo transfer. The BB is known for producing small boned on time calves, on a negative perhaps I was a little too kind with feed, these were our 1st implanted cows?
Were the CS necessary because of the size of the calf or was this just coincidence? because, I've seen many cows give birth in my country but, I've never seen any that needed a CS?
if you notice she fully scrubbed up with antibac scrub,,you try cutting and operating on a cow with the slime from afterbirth with gloves on, its dangerous.
Hi, I am a young farmer from Ireland. We have a largely Limousin and Charolais suckler herd with a Limosin bull doing all the work and we're considering buying another bull. My dad warns me not to even consider buying a BB bull as it will lead to difficult calving. But they were always going to come out the side anyway because of who they were coming from.
A Charolais will grow faster but is heavier boned than the BB
@Dumbledid well i now that bb almost always need caeserean ... and you know that could be dangerous because you can loose the mother and you lost moeney
Thank you so much - I've read about early bovine caesars in the early 50's, then more recently spoken to a farmer who bred a few blues for a while, so I know that this is the only way to deliver a donor cow of such a big calf. I wonder how many caesarian sections a donor cow can have in her life before she's "finished", as it were. Thanks for sharing this most informative sequence in the life of a large animal veterinarian.
I use these embryos to produce stock & to sell as bulls & heifers for breeding only, these will sell at the pure sales, the brother to the calf last year from Bringlee Sandy sold for 21,000 Guineas & heifers received 13,000, 11,000 & 9,500 guineas, so for a £300 embryo & a £300 section whos laughing. My suckler herd is Simmental & Limmy cows to Limmy & British Blue bulls. I hope you are successful at college & at farming but honestly sort your literacy out.
If you took the time to read the description first you would have notice that there were in fact 3 that were sectioned, the cows had embyo implants and they all come out the side. Regarding the blue, the use of the blue bull is common in fact its the most used semen for the Ai.
But I must be a fool having show winning stock, just one calf is worth more than the benefits you claim in 10 years on the dole.
vet gave my girl 1 big injection & then used a whole bottle injecting along the area she was going to cut. The injection used causes loss of pain sensation & paralysis including loss of muscle power. Before she begain stitching she gave her another 2 injections when she started stitching the womb & then the hide.
She was content, eating, chewing the cud & from her calm demeanour she was not in pain, she received further injections the following day. Thanx
Hi what you don't see is the vet scrubbing down 3 times at the start and during the operation both of herself and her waterproofs with antibacterial scrub, the animal then underwent 5 days of injections with Pen & Strep to counteract any infection etc. Thank you for the comment
The vet would not even think about starting an operation without giving anesthetic and pain killers, if you look you will notice she is even chewing the cud, if she was in pain she would have been making a huge amount of noise and would not have been just lying down. Thanks.
Ah thanks, but are these procedures really necessary for the cow or human for that matter to be awake? Wouldn't it go smoother if the patient was fully out by medication? Thanks for answering though.
I am not a vet but I gather is safer to do it this way, the best and neatest way is if the cow is actually standing, but at all times she is completely paralised to any pain etc
Also is this how most blue cows are birthed since they have such large muscle masses? I wonder do Belgian blue cows give birth naturally or do they need Cesareans as well..
I am not a vet but from what I saw the vet gave my girl 1 big injection & then used a whole bottle injecting along the area she was going to cut. The injection used causes loss of pain sensation & paralysis including loss of muscle power. Thanx, I understand and respect how you feel. Its seems like its a hard world that we live in.
Think of it another way.
Given the choice between a non existant life or one of being able to eat what you want, bull the ladies every week and being in the country every day without a worry or care in the world, not knowing the future but knowing that you are being cared for and whatever happens you will be treated humanely, then I would go for the latter.
wow thats freaky how shes shoving her whole hand in there. I would love to see the anatomy behind that. OMG now both hands lol, alot of blood. Wow now the baby is out thats quite amazing.... but why the cesarean in the fist place>?
Hi thanks for the comment, the "Bull" calf was a pure British Blue pedigree, if you look at when he was nearly out the rump of the calf has double muscle even the vet went OOOH, both being a bull calf and having double muscle is what prevented the calf being born naturally, she was in labour for 16hours being constantly monitored and calf checked regularly. Both are doing very well.
Hi what you don't see is the vet scrubbing down 3 times at the start and during the operation both of herself and her waterproofs with antibacterial scrub, the animal then underwent 5 days of injections with Pen & Strep to counteract any infection etc. Thank you for the comment

Also is this how most blue cows are birthed since they have such large muscle masses? I wonder do Belgian blue cows give birth naturally or do they need Cesareans as well..

Hi again
It all depends on the cow and calf and the feed given prior to birth, you might get 3 out of 10 cows needing assistance like this
but due to the value of these particular calves I wont gamble with their life.

I am not a vet but from what I saw the vet gave my girl 1 big injection & then used a whole bottle injecting along the area she was going to cut. The injection used causes loss of pain sensation & paralysis including loss of muscle power. Before she begain stitching she gave her another 2 injections when she started stitching the womb & then the hide.
She was content, eating, chewing the cud & from her calm demeanour she was not in pain, she received further injections the following day. Thanx

Hi
Thanx, I understand and respect how you feel. Its seems like its a hard world that we live in.
Think of it another way.
Given the choice between a non existant life or one of being able to eat what you want, bull the ladies every week and being in the country every day without a worry or care in the world, not knowing the future but knowing that you are being cared for and whatever happens you will be treated humanely, then I would go for the latter.
Cheers

Why was a Cesarean required vs natural birth. Very mind opening video.

The cow and calf would have died, the calf has double muscle and was too big to be calved normally.
Thank you

wow thats freaky how shes shoving her whole hand in there.

I know it's a cow...but really? No gloves? That seems extremely unsanitary for cow and lady.

Hi what you don't see is the vet scrubbing down 3 times at the start and during the operation both of herself and her waterproofs with antibacterial scrub, the animal then underwent 5 days of injections with Pen & Strep to counteract any infection etc. Thank you for the comment
