  • batmovel song

  • Comment removed

  • my cat wrote that song

  • THIS IS THE BEST PINK FLOYD

  • Syd is the reason my user name is what it is ::)

His first trip was taken via sugarcube

  • He's the left side; Your the right side, oh no!!!!

    Love it, always will!

  • VEGETABLE MAN WHERE ARE YOU?

  • i think of the 60's batman theme when i hear the guitar. silly huh?

  • I agree - either Batman or James Bond. I notice there are some ska songs from this period that also use that twangy spy guitar sound. But this is my favourite, partly because it's about a Siam cat (as the English would say).

  • awsome song

  • my heart aches for syd i miss him so damn much

  • More Better than the bombastic sound after 1975 SYD we miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the guitar solo is awesome !

  • Loved it for 30 years!

  • fantastic video very well done i love it 100 stars *******

  • Great song, I love it.

Anybody know who the topless man walking around is/was?

  • rick

  • Si eres colombian@ usuario de Facebook y te gusta el rock o cualquier otro subgénero relacionado te invito a este grupo: Comunidad rockera de Colombia. Esta canción me gustó

  • awsome song

  • Great

syd was a great guitarist too

  • i didn't realize until recently how great a live guitarist syd was.

thanks to youtube, now i know.

this studio work is very artistic--synesthesia through guitar. real cat scratch sound, slashing, like razors.

  • Good spot-geeko-I just recently discovered how to get that intro twang,by tuning

the low E string very loose ,then let it bounce against the pick-up.

0:46 some of these slashing sounds you can get by pulling a string (just like you pull a bow) and ,again let it bounce against the guitar pick-up.0:27

Timeless song this,it gets better with the years ,and still you hear new things.

This song is just perfect, also these driving drums, and how Rick Wright colours the song.

  • trippy album their first,i love it the most...

  • definitivamente una de las mejores canciones de pink floyd al igual que el disco the piper at the gates of dawn, látima que sea tan poco valorado... Syd Barrett era pink floyd

  • syd barrett = genio

  • wish they did more songs like this

  • They're style kind of changed once syd was no longer a member.

  • yeah, the songs became more catchy to ear

  • "their" style not only changed.... their heart fell out.

  • Thank you for catching me on my spelling lol. I honestly didn't notice until now. But what you say makes sense to me.

  • Barratt had a good singing voice, too. Ive just realised that...

  • this is an amazing song its gets better as i hear it

  • Pink Floyd was better with Syd :)

  • hmm... well thats certainly debateable. Thats nothing against Syd, hes amazing. I just think that Pink Floyd had its own style and Syd had his, and they were able to mature when they split.

  • Personally, I disagree. I think the band made Syd. I didn't like any of his solo stuff (well, with like 2 or 3 exceptions)

  • listen to Golden Hair on Madcap Laughs.

  • @kavuthedark2005 I AGREE (=

  • dude i kno wat u mean lol

also BEST PINK FLOYD SONG EVER

  • Twice when I've been listening to this song outside, a cat has come out of nowhere... freaks me out. O_o

  • ten zespół rozpierdala ;d

  • Excerpt from interview with Syd.

Q: Some of your songs seem rather obscure - like Chapter 24 on Piper.

SB: Chapter 24...that was from I Ching, there was someone around who was very into that, most of the words came straight off that. Lucifer Sam was another one - it didn't mean much to me at the time, but then three or four months later it came to mean a lot.

  • Never forget The Misunderstood (from Riverside, California) either = Floyd got their idea for a light show from them, Summer 1966.

  • Did they life this note for note from the 13th Floor Elevators "Rollercoaster?"

  • i think that guy at 0:40 is tripping. "damn it's fucking hot in here. i need to take my shirt off. oh shit? what are all these cars? damn, look at these cars!"

  • ..'england'.'1967'..beatles,stones,kinks,small faces,cream,yardbirds,the who,the pretty things,animals,e.t.c. but never forget the 'pink floyd'

  • GENIAL

  • UNA OBRA MAESTRA

  • UNA OBRA MAESTRA

  • LYMBO2006 sucks. ho!ho!ho!...

That cat´s something i can´t explaaaaaaain!!... uin uin uin uinnn uinnn... Love this music!! :D

  • you guys realize he died 2 years ago right

  • it is sad to see a friend being destroyed by drugs, i have that experience.Sadly Barret was a victim of the nieve ignorance of his entire generation, that makes him a martyr but not a genious. The fact is that he couldnt be able to develop his talent to that level like the other band members and its ridiculous that people praise him like some kind of musical hero or god. He was a leading figure, a very cherised friend and a strongly charismatic character, but not a great songwriter or musician.

  • i wont comment about what u think of syds talent as a songwriter, because it's a matter of taste &theres no point in disaggreeing.but as for the other part, you talk about things you have no idea and yet sound as if you know everything. dealing with someone's psyche, mentality, even "reality" and things as such which are obscure and difficult to determine (plus without knowing the details of the case-and you dont, nobody here does)can and will lead you to false assumptions (ie calling him a victim)

  • Why did you call Syd Barrett a retard? It sounds to me like you just don't like his music. First of all, read what you wrote aloud to yourself, It's kinda choppy and you contradict yourself at one point. Secondly, Syd Barrett obviousley had enough talent to become the poster child of the entire Psychedelic Music era, so don't question the man's talent knowing that fact. And lastly, Schizophrenia and retardation are two different things, judging by your text, you rode the small bus to school?

  • minarv, that's actually very shallow what you just described... when you loose your mind because of drugs, then you are a victim. period. everything else you said is as purely hypothetical like the writings you judge.

it's the classic neurotic mindset: "oh! i'm so totally unexplainable and deep! i'm so not hooked!" fact is: syds musical genius stopped working because he didn't control his habit anymore. >> VICTIM.

P.S.: thumbdown if your ego needs it, silly.

  • since i'm such a neurotic egotistical person, as you describe, my ego needs to make clear that i dont "thumbdown" people when I disaggree with what they say, I didnt thumbdown LYMBO2006 either. probably some syd fan gave him thumbsdown for calling syd a retard.

apart from that, I wont argue with you coz my ego doesnt like your attitude. :)

  • did you ever do ketamine? awesome...

  • I met Syd in the late 60's and he was no where near destroyed by drugs, and you know something the drugs he took helped him write new work (LSD and Marijuana). And also I really do not care if you persons do not belive me I was the original soundman for The Deep a british psychedelic band. Oh and when I used to run and mix sound at a live concert I would always eat some acid to open up the mind to new sounds. Oh and I would like to know what you mean by "nieve ignorance of his entire generation"

  • Well back in the late 60 the short and long term effects of drug abuse were known but very little spread among people.Nowadays you get a drop of LSD in a piece of paper, back then it was entire spoons. That i mean:they didnt really knew what they were getting into;they tough that was the way they were going to change the world by everyone opening their minds and perception and lving each other in peace and harmony. But well they failed to change the world and left many casualties like Syd.

  • Why not change your name to SPAMO2006 it's more suitable you know.

  • Dude, are you like remedial he didn't die from that he passed from complications from diabeties and pancreatic cancer, but did you guys know it also said under occupation "retired musician" to me that would be like getting spit in the face

  • He didn't die from his drug abuse, but it fried his brain.

  • bad mistake, huh? but think of a world that did NOT take LSD or get into all those drugs. how far bake would we be? for example, pink floyd would have never been as it is today!

  • syd was an awesome writer and the drugs didnt kill him iit was hes health like DONOTRESUSITATE said and cool u actualy met him im 16 and id love to meet him if he hadnt died

  • in 1967 you were allowed to film children in someone else's backgarden from out of your window, that's nice

  • 67 67 why there is 41 years????????

  • awesome song my fav PF song

  • Pink Floyd 4 life!

  • Hypnotic! I've had this on vinyl, don't know' if i still have it.

  • Me too but the music with dave was brilliant in its own way.

yeah it is... The Piper at the gates of Dawn.

    1967 :]

    RIP syd

  • i like pink floyds older stuff. this is the first album right?

  • yep

  • Jeeze, you guys; that poor girl, she's really not that ugly-looking. There's no reason to be insulting her.

    Also, awesome music.

  • i prefer pipers at the gates of dawn over any other pink floyd stuff. syd was insane and yet a genious!

  • love this song

  • that syd is something i cant explain

  • Thats sad that he died.

  • That is,ofcourse, he wrote(past tense);Rest in peace Syd. Also, any money would go to his estate-all of his royalties go to fund music education for children. He was such a sweet man.

  • Syd writes such cool riffs that other bands can't keep their hands off of them. Listen to this song at 1:45-ZZ Top used it for "sharp dressed man"! They should pay Syd for sampling his music(I guess people could get away with that in the past-that is lame!).

  • My first favorite song by PF. It´s from the end of the 60s !!

  • its from 1967

  • ja, danke schoen - thank you.

  • It was clear by this time that while syd was awesome he was also reaching mushroom burger status and frying his brain to a crisp

  • Yes, a cat.

  • very nice LSD moviment!..^^

  • Not to sound cruel, but that woman could never be with Syd. At this point in his career he only had the most beautiful girlfriends. From what I've read,he had more gorgeous ladies than he could handle(no pun intended- HA HA)

  • I'm referring to gal in video-sorry lady.Don Johnson should ease up a little;Claudya is only being facetious.

  • gtfo

  • I really don't know why, but this music(Luzifer) remind me some of james bond's theme, the video is so crazy! But who the hell is that ugly girl?Barrett's girlfriend?I don't believe!! I'm more beatiful than her!sob,,, :(

  • you may be more beautiful, but you are dumber...so that's makes you even I suppose, huh?

  • Easy there Don Johnson,Claudya is just being facetious.Geez.And,in my other comment I was referring to gal in video-sorry lady.

  • one of my favorite albums!

  • GRAN TEMA

  • awesome!!!

  • AH HA, one of my favorite Floyd songs.

  • "<i>That cat's something I can't explain</i>". My "<i>head did no thinking</i>". Only one word: <b>WOW</b>! 8D

    R.I.P. Syd :'(

Thanks a lot for this post!

  • Jennifer Gentle: YER A WITCH!

    Yer the left side

    He's the right side

    OH NOOOOO!

    *****************

    SYD BARRETT:

    That cat's something

    I can't explain

  • Uh-oh, it's getting groovy in here. The psychodelic style was in full-bloom when Syd was writing pop tunes - that's for sure. At least he wrote from real experience and came up with great music. Not typical pop fair by any means. This is fairly hard-to-find footage in the states. Thanks for sharing - I've only seen short clips of this, never the whole song. THANKS!

  • Man, those guys sure hung around with some ugly chicks!

  • I think they did not notice since they were under the influence. When I am drunk women seem to be better looking.

  • That's why they call it "Beer Goggles".

Except for the vocals, this sounds like it could have been a James Bond theme.

  • wow your stupid

  • la mejor banda del mundo

  • OMG, Hawt! <3<3

  • where these pics?

  • Wow syd's awesome too bad he took too much lsd his choice though tsk tsk RIP

  • pink floyd is amazing

  • this is what i call psycodelic man

  • I read that this song was about Syd's former girlfriend Samantha and that bitch might have increased Syd's mental instability

  • I have heard it was originally titled "Percy the Rat Catcher", so I assume it really is about a cat...

  • uhh, yea... ok.
