Reason is that MOTU was the first toon created after the figures were.Mattel used the toon as a 30 min advertisement to promote toys.Because Mattel used the same body design for almost each figure is why Adam&He-Man were strikingly similar. It explains this in the DVD special features. Mattel would make toys then take them to the Filmation and say"we need this to be in a script"they were strict & gave little room for creativity.This is why great stories were prevalent writers had that freedom.

Yes, can't describe the excitement we had as kids watching this amazing cartoon show. The opening tune and the backdrop of the castle grayskull was an absolute classic. Buying the He-Man figures was a passion. A very good show with lots of action and a lesson at the end. Unfortunately, in today's world such shows would be termed lame and gay. How sad.
