  • Pitcher's worst nightmare

  • I used to be a D1 pitcher... but then i took a baseball to the knee

  • I used to play college baseball, then I took a ball to the knee.

  • that has to hurt. i was at baseball practice once and got hit in the knee during practice on a line drive. i finished the play and kind of fell down afterwards.

  • Aw man, look at the score... Poor guy...

  • Poor guy, amazing play though.

  • Great presence of mind. If only Pryor had such a thing.

  • once you break your kneecap theres no fixing it. that man will always have problems lol

  • I hope the poor kid can still play, that could ruin a career.

  • @Mangina9000 he got drafted in the 3rd round to the twins this year.

  • he took it like a champ

  • That there, that is what we call a gamer!!

  • I broke my kneecap 2 weeks ago, i feel your pain man, worst pain ever!

  • This was the number two play of 2010 what a player

  • I was playing and this kid hit it back at me in the shin ( right where I broke my leg last year from a hockey check ) and I got him out but it's weird bc unless it's like very very bad it really doesn't hurt until u finish the play eventually I was happy though bc without getting hit I wouldn't have gotten a no-no

  • Wow... that is amazing that he could even think of finishing the play while clearly in so much pain!

  • Forget the pitcher that was a hell of a play

  • geez when I shattered my knee cap there was no way I could have functioned enough to through the ball hahas

  • he should have played chess...

  • never gave up... good job

  • He is beast, dude . And def hot :)

  • Well, that's gotta hurt.

  • Man i hope hes ok

  • that's a real ball player right there!

  • wow. a true competitor. documented forever.

  • thats genna leave a huge mark!

  • MANLY

  • Should have won the ESPY tonight. Insane.

  • I guessing that play was thanks to a quick shot of adrenaline (sp?) and good presence of mind. I've had 2 line drives shot back at my legs in my last 2 starts and in both i was able to keep pitching for the rest of the game but after they hurt like hell.

  • @TGbaseball26

    ouch!

  • my sister knows that guy.

  • Great reaction!

  • People in little league still use the bats college players...They need to have college players use wooden bats

  • Guts... THIS is the definition of it.

  • That dude is a true Baseball Player....Balls to the Wall buddy.

  • poor guy! i know what a shattered knee cap feels like..great play buddy!

  • @tatorbug4448

how long did it take you to recover? Did you have surgery for it?

  • I was at the game. When the ball hit his knee, you could hear that crack throughout the stadium. To have the presence of mind to throw him off was simply amazing. One of the plays of the year for sure.

  • @GURILLAkrd Pitchers get hit more often than you would think. Even if it would be the nice thing to do, the batter usually doesn't go up to the pitcher.

  • damn that woulda hurt but nice play. haha

  • This is why wood bats need to be used at this level. Not only is it just insane to have a 90 m.p.h. fastball come off a bat that goes "TING" flying back at a shortstop and field it, but a pitcher? This why baseball at the college level will always get less T.V. time than those re-runs of "bowling for dollars", or what ever it's called on espn!

  • @gunnadriveunuts why would that have ANYTHING to do with TV time?

  • @emmathebeast... Right, because the first baseman delivered the pitch, took it off the knee, picked it up and then threw it to first base. Good job 1st.

  • That's pretty fantastic

  • At least he died doing what he liked the most

  • @angelmassb btw he didnt die

  • ouch!!!

  • this is why im afraid of pitching lol

  • @deathgun666 IM Afraid of batting

  • What the heck?! That is one of the best plays I've seen since the Expos guy tripped over 2nd and ice cream coned the ball!

  • I hope he will be okay. Amazing Play, and player.

  • Guts! He won't probably be able to ever pitch but he has guts. Good show, kid.

  • He deserves a cookie

  • Nice!!! Too bad it was 7 to 1...

  • Are you kidding me? That was amazing. I hope he's ok.

  • Get that man a beer and sammich!

  • Awesome Play many Pros wouldn't have the spirit too make a play too!

Guess old saying is true Pain before Plesure

  • nice move. not unbelieveable

  • your unbelievable

  • wow, i would be screaming in pain to even focus about getting the ball to first. lol

  • THERE'S A MAN

  • Thats is the EXACT reason why they need wodd bats they are grown men using metal after high school use WOOD high school should be the last year of metal. But Corey you got my respect all of it you have SO much heart for the game and your a true team Player! ! ! !

  • hes a true team player

  • In case you haven't seen the x-ray...his knee was broken in half. Well beyond a fracture. Poor kid.

  • Wow. For those of you who do not know, Austin Maddox (the batter) is basically one of the physically strongest players in the country. I guess you could say that he + metal bat = recipe for complete disaster. I really don't know why they're using metal at this level; many of these guys are jacked, grown men.

  • WALK IT OFF!

  • @whitehype21 Or don't throw pumpkins right down the heart of the plate!!!

  • @YouSayYouWantA one that was a freak accident and two he should not throw pumpkins right down the middle

  • At least the ball did not hit his face.

  • Oh ok then if that happens then the HS people will be complaining that they need Wood bats too. It'll go down the chain until somebody says enough probably to the 12-U cuz its a smaller field. Leave it alone like expanding the Basketball Tournament. LEAVE IT ALONE! Reflexes! Eat more carrots. People get hit even if its hit off of a wood bat it's the same thing.

  • He must not have eaten his ribs & corn on the cob.

  • im 14 years old and I USE WOODEN BATS why the heck are they using metal?!!!!!

  • Bring back the Lumber!

  • Wow!!!! INCREDIBLE!!! He'll never be able to walk again but he got one man out in this very important game of baseball. He is truly a hero!!!!

  • @musca999 I think they said a couple days ago on ESPN (they interviewed him) that he has to wait 6 months until he can pitch again. Even though the knee was broken in 2.

  • @musca999 you're an idiot...a hero? haha

  • @musca999 "He'll never be able to walk again" oh my god... really?

btw.... adrenaline can be seen in this video clearly...

  • @musca999 he is already walking on it

  • Danger makes it cool.

  • The X-ray of Williams' knee is gnarley. Wood bats are long overdue in college ball.

  • A truly great player

  • Most people woulda got hit there and just layed there (I mean yeah I bet that hurts like HELL!) but he actually got hit in the knee and while laying on the ground chucks the ball to the first basement and STILL gets the out, definition of a TRUE/HARD-WORKING athlete there.

  • go Dores!!! South Carolina is going down this weekend!! Wish Corey could help us out, he is a very talented lefty!!

  • Thats as good as Mark Burhle's play on opening day.

  • that pitcher deserves an ESPY!

  • @NICKRITZER he will walk again.

just he will be in a bit of pain for a while

  • what a play!!

  • Nice play. Too bad about the knee.

  • They need to get rid of aluminum bats and go with wood just like MLB.

  • Get this kid to the majors, what a champ.

  • that's nothing. i was hit in my crotch, all of my balls split in different directions and i still made a better throw than him.

  • @variousiroiro SCREW YOU!!

  • @variousiroiro "all of my balls"?? LOL just wondering, how many do you have? you have a six-pack in there or what?

  • great play man the last thing i would have done was throw the ball to first, great throw too!

  • they use metal bats because they are safer than wood, wood bats splinter and kill people.

  • DAAAMM even when he is down,,, he maneges to throw the ball!!

    annd get the batter out..woooah

  • That is a clutch player. I hope this kid ends up with one of those obscene contracts that bug me so much.

  • man...i dont really watch baseball but that was amazing.

  • wow. dedication.

  • GREAT HEART DUDE!!!!!!

  • stud.

  • Get these bats out of college ball!!!!! Wood bats only! This is ridiculous

  • I like that stretcher.

  • I saw "Vanderbilt" in the title and instantly thought of the song "Mrs. Vanderbilt" by Paul McCartney

  • Corey your my hero!

    Get well soon...we miss ya!

  • Wooden Bats Please

  • wow....that is inspiring! That's what it means to be tough!

  • now that's DEDICATION.....

  • I think baseball bat regulations may need to be revised... it seems like more and more lately there are stories popping up of brutal injuries from aluminum bats

  • Other than wishing the best recovery possible, I only have 2 words.

    Wooden Bats.

  • here another video where the guy have his ego soo high, even after batter gets tag out, the batter wouldnt even go over and say sorry

  • savage.

  • Sweet play man

I couldn't imagine my kneecap breaking and tossing the ball to get the out

  • IT SPLIT HIS KNEECAP IN HALF.

  • They need to make college baseball players use wood bats this is too dangerous

  • @whitehype21, I agree!!!

  • @whitehype21 They use metal bats because wood bats are to dangerous. They splinter and kill players!

  • @bonehead711 go hug a tree. whitehype21 is right.

  • @whitehype21; and he couldn't have been hit with a line drive off a woodbat?!? Ever see the Billy Wagner clip?

  • @whitehype21 why do they use metal bat? High School use wood

  • @Spankyliz No, high school used metal as well.

  • @whitehype21

How is using a wood bat going to do anything about balls being hit back at the pitcher? Have you not seen what Pujols did to Chris Young? Furthermore, with a wood bat pitchers also have to worry about lumber flying back at them.

  • @NathanielFaunce

The ball doesn't come off of a wood bat nearly as fast as a metal bat. That's not an opinion, it's fact. That is why you see college teams score in the 20's all the time. Call me crazy, but most college players are not Albert Pujols. College has needed to go to wooden bats for a long time.

  • @whitehype21 the chance of a pitcher get hit like in the video is the same as a metal bat than a wood bat. so college players should stick with metal bat

  • @nickbaseball94 Hmmm. Where did you get those statistics? Link please.. Dont metal bats give more velocity to the ball?

  • @whitehype21 yeah same with high school to id say. ball pops off the bat to fast and hard for guys this old and strong.

  • @whitehype21 lol what is not dangerous walking down the street is dangerous

  • Great play, just sorry he had a severe injury.

  • Amazing strength ands determination.

  • warrior! that's the spirit of baseball

  • Damn, there is a player that is a keeper.

I haven't seen epic win like that since Jushin "Thunder" Lyger broke his foot but calmly rolled over, tagged his partner, and then rolled out of the ring to wait for the EMT's

  • that's what i call a spirit for the sport.

  • tennessee baby. hardcore

  • who says baseball is not a dangerous sport...

  • He deserves a huge cookie.

  • with raisins and pecans?

  • @alwayshogfan only if the guy admitted it was him who broke the pitchers kneecap.

  • ouch! that got to hurt!

  • Wow, good job finishing the play. Better hit the books hard, so much for the pros. Nothing wrong with getting a real job and contributing to society.

  • ouch!!!! thats gotta hurts.... not a vandi fan but i sure hope he gets better

  • get well soon

  • hands down most devoted baseball player out there

  • This is why I quit playing baseball when I was younger.

  • Damn hope he has a quick recovery

  • that is why aluminum bats should be banned from high schools and other places

their dangerous since they make the ball bounce of the bat and make it go faster

  • OMG what a pro dang

  • give this kid a gold glove

  • what a stud :)

  • wow thtats amzing effort. but i have to say this. go lsu tigers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woop woop

  • mother of god that must have hurt. I cant even imagine. I think i would have pissed my pants out there.

  • O MY..

  • wow....i couldnt even imagine breaking my kneecap...

  • Truly an amazing, courageous play. And yes, one more reason aluminum bats need to be either discontinued or manufactured so baseballs can't fly at death inducing speeds.

  • he didn't die! But it shows you just what kind of player this is. He's amazing. It split his knee cap. Great play, Corey.!

  • he shattered his knee cap on his play. the xray of it was gnarly. 2 pieces just sitting in his leg.

  • tht sucks

  • Sucks they were down by 6 so it didnt matter

  • It's absurd that wooden bats aren't used in college baseball

  • One of the most unbelievable plays. Wow.

  • that is very possible for that to happen i used to be a pitcher and if u throw the ball lets say 85mph when the batter hits the ball it goes twice as fast. deffinitly if its aluminum bat. but very impressive play

  • I was there at the game and saw the play. This kid is unbelievable, I've seen many baseball type injuries and never anything like it. This kid has guts and heart to play the game. I wish him the best and speedy recovery

  • real american!

  • real american...blocks out the pain and keeps playin' get well soon!

  • pure adrenaline and will power kept him going. Awesome play

  • holy shit, amazing play, probably the guttsiest play I've ever seen

  • Here's to a speedy recovery for that kid. Tons of heart and guts. God Bless ya Corey. Get well soon.

  • @Supermonkey22 it's baseball not nasa bro .......

  • he deserves a lollipop

  • For a person like me that plays baseball, I cant watch this video without cringing every time. That kid has GUTS, I would've been on the floor crying.

    What a GREAT play.

  • @mmvrockerz you don't got what it takes to play the game fool !

  • this guy is the defenition of THE MAN

  • purple heart

  • thats heart

  • still made the play good job

  • He was probably in shock and didn't know the amount of pain it was when he threw the ball.

  • Omg....reminds me of when i broke my kneecap in hockey....worst thing ever and it messes up your life forever....
