Did they shut the engine down immediately after the test run? It looked like they did and if so you might want to start saving for a turbo as thats a good way to toast them. Also i thought i saw a wurth bin in the background of the shop, where is this shop located?
all that smoke is actually just soot, same stuff that comes out of your fireplace, diesel burns cleaner than gasoline, gas is actually a diesel bi-product
actually your both wrong, they both come from a mixture of molecules popularly known as "crude oil"
it contains everything from methane to asphalt in it,
they use many different processes to sort out the hydrocarbon molecules, especially distillation
gasoline and diesel are two different "cuts" from this Hc mix, they are two different sized molecules, diesel has heavier (larger) molecules, gas has smaller ones
half-burnt fuel is what the "soot" is, it is very near pure carbon in composition.
@ovlaicu yea that amazing 340torque will get you from 0-30 in no time. Meanwhile the top-end motors will be screaming past you at the 1/4 mile line... hp is where its at not torque.
An average of 48mpg. Best was 52 (all hwy) and worst 40 in all Toronto driving.

They didn't put a tube on the tailpipe? They shut the car down immediately after running the dyno w/o a cool down? Idiots.

@CosmicTDI well considering it probably didn't even have time to warm up......

I've got to get a new clutch in my TDI :-(
It's chipped and has 764's with a bunch of other stuff. I clutch will slip now if I hit it at 2k rpm. EatSoot!

actually dude diesel is a bi-product made during the refining process of gasoline from crude oil.

Haha, that's my car. I didn't even know about this video:)
It dynoed at 141 hp that day. It started it's life as a 90 hp car. But 1000$ later it was eating done up Civics for breakfast.:)
2 months later I upgraded the intake manifold and it dynoed at 150 hp and 340lbs of torque.

@ovlaicu and what was your mpg?

@ovlaicu What dd you do on it to get 141 hp ?
400exstunter 8 months ago
yes; it is true. The "soot" is only superficial; it produces 29% less carbons per particle than a gasoline engine of similar size and hp output.
Plus Diesels do not require the chemical additives gasoline does to keep the "environment clean" Al Gore!
poitrenaud 4 years ago
lol wow. don't let the smoke fool you. diesels are actually better for the environment in the big picture.
thanks for the vid
