Crazy, I bet you are so upset that you not only got a lovely gill-plate-sliced palm but also that your trophy got away and couldn't be mounted on the wall(he-he-he!). Like Bassfooler, I was also taught to whack them and throw them on the bank because they supposedly ravage sport fish populations. I'd say it is at least a tie between them and bowfin for wicked fights.

Hope your first aid training gets you through your gar-rehabilitation.
