The thing about world football is that no team except Brazil has ever been dominant. I doubt the US would ever become dominant just like I doubt the country that invented the game will ever be dominant. As long as the US is not the best team for a long stretch, there will never be a problem with the game around the world.

Also, look at basketball. The US was the only country that played it well for 70 years, and all of the other countries who were influenced by that dominance are catching up.
