I agree with Indypop2----Sonu is very close to Rafi. Rafi sahab would have been very proud of him.

Sonu always talks about Rafi sahab in every live show of his.he always shows his appreciation of Rafi .I love them both.

Sonu sang is better but Rafis, original is the best and can never be emulated and had Rafi sahib re-sung this song in late 70,s in a bit better sound-system technology as had been the case with his live recorded songs meri kahani bhoolne waale,, and suhani raat dhal chuki and madhoo ban main radhika naache under music director Naushad, sonu couldnt have emulated it even 10%

not as impressive as rafi sahab sung!!! hear it carefull specialy at "nadan ki neyat thek nahi" it could be good or different but comparing 2 the real song is not good. real one is like magic. remember ppl even a photostate is not like real. :)

Damn good...he gets pretty close to the original. Some can mimic the voice but not the quality of delivery but Sonu matches the quality almost 90% though his voice is different.

I don't think the octave is lower, it is just a question of recording level on 2nd para onwards...but the way Rafi saab drops to lower scales in the same stanza and yet keeps that sweet tone is something hard to match.

tempo is quite low. In short he is at least 1000

Sonu Nigam is the true heir of Mohammad Rafi legacy. Although Rafi is irreplacable, Sonu is very close in his attempt to match Rafi's genius.
