  • Fishy Joes theme - Futurama

  • WHAT.

  • He was so young here D:

  • @Rosiegotabubblegum You mean, I am so old now....

  • I FOUND IT!!!! AFTER 11 YEARS OF SEARCHING! I FOUND THIS SONG!!!!

AND MARK HAMMILL IS PLAYING IT WITCH MAKES IT BETTER!!!!

  • Sounds Chinese to me LOL

  • @whobearUK have you ever actually heard Chinese music?

  • MANDOLIN IS ITALIAN

  • smooking

  • I watched the Mark Hamill/Steven King drummer about 8 times before i saw his RARD blonde front lock. Cant stop watching the vid tho.

  • OH&S and that pianist hunched over like that, goodness!

  • The rest of the band are seriously struggling to keep up. This is amazing.

  • Does anyone know the name of the kind of "guitar" he uses on this video, please ? :)

  • @Astriam A mandolin!

  • @Astriam GUITAR? HA HA

  • @zapkvr Finally, it is a mandolin.

  • Along with the pianist looking like Mark Hamill, the drummer looks like Eric Idle, of the Monty Python's.

  • brilliant!

  • Pop a Poppler in your mouth

When you come to Fishy Joe's

What they're made of is a mystery

Where they come from no one knows

You can pick 'em, you can lick 'em

You can chew 'em, you can stick 'em

If you promise not to sue us you can shove one up your nose

  • @Regnberg I sang this while reading it for the first time perfectly, like it was stuck in my head. Amazing those Futurama writers are.

  • Some lyrics:

D'ya balls hang low? Can you swing 'em to and throw?

Can you tie 'em in a knot? Can you tie 'em in a Bow?

Do you get the funny feeling, that they're hanging from the ceiling?

Oh you'll never be a sailor if you balls hang low.

  • odd...

  • He left the drummer behind... the keyboard player could barely keep up... even the the audience was too slow and all they needed to do was clap... that is a masterclass of mandolin playing.

  • The pianists shirt would be a fine addition to any wardrobe

  • Fast fingers! :D

  • Well on the subject of Mark Hamil, the whole band would've had to 'use the force' to keep up with Mike Oldfield for that piece, especially the drummer (though he looked like he was on speed anyway!). And yes, that is definitely Tim Cross on keys.

  • neil young and mark hamills lovechild, lol. i must laugh, it is so true.

    mike oldfield is the best.

  • I'd have loved to see him go up against Jethro Burns... I'd hate to have to guess who'd win THAT one... but I think I would lean in Oldfield's favor...

  • For a sorely missing mandolinist:-(((((

  • at 2.04 he looks like Mr Bean!!

  • ... glad that the hornpipe upped the tempo to the point that the hand-claps turned into toe-taps or finger-taps

  • @davidfaubion the audience couldn't keep up...

  • quite clearly the pianist is Micheal Biehn

  • @PodMonkeyCWC I thought that this is Tim Cross playing

  • this has been stuck in my head for the past month i am so freaking happy i figured out what it was

  • If Neil Young and Mark Hammill had a lovechild, it would be the pianist.

  • @Crandasher Greatest comment ever!

  • @Funloverdude Thank you!

  • @Crandasher There might be some Stephen King in the mix. Some kind of three way.

  • @8bit4ever Yes you're right. Spot on.

  • @Crandasher The drummer is also clearly a Muppet.

  • @Crandasher I'd toss a little Stephen King in there too...

  • hahahha brilliant

  • is that luke skywalker on the piano?!

  • @TheJazz2002 No, that`s Stephen King without his glasses^^

  • Got the album version but this one is far superior. What an effort to play at that speed. Fingers must have been raw.

  • The Piano Player looks like a young Mark Hamill

  • For some reason, after reading this, I feel like eating spinach and giving a big muscular man the twisker punch.

  • can I be the 500th person to say how brilliant this is, and also that the drummer looks like he's enjoying himself way too much..

  • Tricky the Clown!

    NOOOOOO!

  • Also, the piano player looks like Micheal Biehn stole Rod Blagojevich's hair. Just throwing that out there.

  • Hey, it was the Eighties, man.

  • at 2:12 he totally steals the identity of Stephen King as well.

  • I can keep up on my penny whistle until 1:16 and then...

    FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!

  • Holy Crap, that was fast...I don't play any instruments but I know that must have been quite hard to play...

  • anyone else think the piano player looked a lot like Richard Vranch or whatever from the old series of Whose Line? the ones with Clive Anderson as the host?

  • at 1:10 he looks bored "Oh my god i've played this SO MANY TIMES"

and at 1:42 I have no idea what the drummer was thinking when he shaved that morning... :D

  • lol

  • Starts off like "Does he know how to play it?". Then he sits down and - it's like he's challenging the rest of the ensemble to keep up with him. Simply AMAZING!!!!

  • Forgot to mention how the instruments he plays "almost" beg for mercy. He takes them to every extreme while playing them. Lows, Highs, slow, and OMG FAST like this one!

  • @Dyslexica

    That's exactly what I thought.

  • tricky's song? Anyone?

  • This one seems to be a great song to get tendonitis...

  • Just imagine trying to play it on a trombone. If someone payed me a million pounds to do that, i never would. I value my right shoulder too much

  • Awesome to watch and listen to. Am tired at even the thought of trying to play it.

  • mike must have been getting soo much ass back in the day....... he's the hip stoner surfer dude!!!!

  • AH HA HA HA! The frets on a mandolin make playing a violin so easy!

  • simply amazing, loved every second of it

  • Fabulous ! Just Fabulous !!

    Greetings from Steven

  • What a rockstar :D

  • He can't yell, just think that when you yell you relax all yourself, and he fells anything except relaxed. He has to move both hands veeery fast. This is a "strength face", like the one few seconds before.

    Very good video, 5 starts.

  • wow.... How the hell can he play that fast?!

  • practice, since if you watch bango players they play about the same speed even faster sometimes

  • no not really, and its a diferrent instrument

  • i can play the speed hes playing at 1:20 on guitar !!! :D

  • sweet :D

  • lol did you notice around 2:06 he yells lol

  • and what about his fingers ?

  • Bravo, Mike Oldfield. You're amazing!

  • Hey guys, who the hell is on keys ? What's his name ?

  • featuring Luke Skywalker on keys...

  • LOL

  • hahaha! I've been fascinated by mike oldfield's music, and his current website picture suits him so well... he looks so distinguished and bold... but now, seeing what he used to look like! LOL! now that's just embarrassingly dorky! :P

If ever there were jokes about mike oldfield, they'd center around that hair :P looks like battlestar galactica(1970s) hair!! :)

  • Some lyrics:

Oh, a sailor's life is the life for me

How I love to sail o'er the bounding sea

And I never, never, ever do a thing about the weather

For the weather never ever does a thing for me!

  • Sounds like something from moby dick :)

  • Actually, it's from Disney's "Alice in Wonderland."

  • Sailor's Hornpipe is at least a century older than the Alice in Wonderland novel, let alone the Disney adaptation.

  • Of course, I know. But those particular lyrics are from the Disney movie.

  • Funny isn't it! Had to come back and watch this again. Really entertaining.

  • Pop a poppler in your mouth

when you come to fishy Joe's.

What they're made of is a mystery

where they come from no-one knows.

You can pick 'em, you can lick 'em, you can chew 'em, you can stick 'em.

If you promise not to sue us you can shove one up your nose.

LOL! I thought the poppler song sounded familiar :P

  • @nordeide

    Awesome lyrics.

  • Que Grande.

  • he blew a nut @ 2:08

  • Breathtaking! brilliant ! absolutely amazing

  • Brought out a big smile in me!

  • The second reason Tubular Bells Pt 2 became my fave song! the first being the caveman... which Mike seems to have left out in this version... *cries*

  • Mike Oldfield is a genious.

  • Breathtaking!

  • beautiful

  • That's it! Have to go out right now and buy a sweater with piano keys across the back. That shirt is just one big ol' pussy magnet!

  • Now let's see ANYONE from a mainstream chart band play ANY instrument that well. Any takers? I'm willing to be educated.

  • Popeye

  • I love the way the song breaks in at 00:57.

  • agreed...

  • totally agreed :)) brilliant !

  • rofl!!!! 2:06 lol mike looks like he's doing a shit :P great vid btw

  • Didn't realise him yelling at 2:06 but now i see! lol

  • I have a general question to all who know a little about mike oldfield.

I am looking for a song that he did.

Also a sailor song that was called Plymouth. I might be spelling it horribly wrong but hopefully sombody might have heard of it.

  • The sailor song you are thinking of is called Portsmouth.

  • tales from the sea

  • he DOES look like Mark Hammil (Luke) but his wardrobe is WAY better. That piano shirt is SWEET! I agree with Stalledrangen 100% tho.

  • haha mark hamill XD

  • At the end he starts to get crazy! lol. I love it.

  • the pianist looks like luke skywalker

  • it is him!! o_O

  • Mike was, and still is one of the best surfers on the Guitarr ;D!!

The Piano-players outfit looks a little bit gay, the 80`s ;D.

  • woozaaaaa!!!! mike looks like a surfer..... awesome!!!!

  • he looks like hes enjoying the preformance.

  • Sau schnell

  • Well what can you say. A brilliant musician. Sometimes a bit boring. But always with a lot of talent.

  • That was great playing. I like theslower part the best, beautiful music. I love the song

AmaLaGia, (hope I didn't murder the name) its also played on the mandolin.

  • Damn, what's in that sailors hornpipe???

  • His fingers should be bleeding - that's amazing!

  • After that I gotta hear Tubuar Bells again. Thanks for the video

  • That mandolin, shoulda burst into flames before he finished... WOW!

  • that was crazy

  • Come on everyone, sing along:

    Do your balls hang low?

Can you swing 'em to and fro?

Can you tie 'em in a knot?

And can you tie 'em in a bow?

Do you get a funny feeling

When your bollocks hit the ceiling?

Oh, you'll never be a sailor

    If your balls hang low

  • Take it easy Selina weve got all night
