Soft Cell, just with simple melodies they were able to reproduce feelings directly into your heart. Those time (80's) will never be back; those were times for lyrics and melodies
Saw the last ever Soft Cell gig, 10th Jan 1984 Hammersmith Palais. Best night of my life. Seen Soft Cell (reunion)/ Marc Almond 30 - 40 times since. Love this song. Soft Cell without a doubt the biggest influence on my life.
well i think this was abigg mistake intheir career how could they come out with such singles after the great first album .of course the art of falling apart was superb , i th ink it is th\e singles that are useless
1998? Are sure that wasn't a greatist hits album or a live album or something, this was from their singles collection and the song must have originally been released before then.
@ceegeefarr ...hahahaha i wasnt alone then ! think I started off goth in 1985 ! soft cell still the best even after 25 years ! hope he releases another track !
@curtisducati Second coming of Goth IMO. Bauhaus kicked it off 5 years earlier. Theyd split by 83. SC were were the arse end of the New Romantics and the rather seedier side as well. Loved em though.
If all the words to this song were thrown up into the air, and todays so called tunesmiths had to catch them and rearrange them into a song, they wouldn't have a clue.
A little harsh but saying that I have the Soft Cell12 inch collection and it is over the top but that is the brilliance. If you bought a SC record you were given another view. I mean compare Torch with Lady gA VOMIT.
Oh, at that time, Marc only had one single tatoo on his arm! love the song: father looks at you like a snake... hahaha exactly how i felt when i was a kid....
u must read this. once u have started there is no turning back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murderded in 1945. her body was not found until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 vidoes in 30 minutes the dead girl will apear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and paste to be saved Did this lol
fucking clasic! fathers never understand when children have they upper hand! sooo true... love this and every marc tune, he's a real star! the last of a dying breed!

@vaggelisparaskevas Not sure I completely agree, but I do think this song is about 90 seconds too long.

So gutted i wasn't there in the 80's. I'm getting sick of the cheesy pop and R&B(again pop) that is forced down my generations throat.

This song really hit home with me-pretty awful times as a kid, trying to carve out an identity while being degraded at home.
