Why do you Europeans insist on keeping 6inch wide tires on your car, widen your footprint and get more surface area out of wider tires. 8inches is good, 10 is great.
@Sp33dyD3m0n let me but it to you like this the wider the tyre the harder it is to move, decreasing acceleration and cornering ability eg a bmw e30 325 with 7.5 inche wide tyres all round will be a much more responsive and hane better cornering abilty than one with 10s out back. The 306 with 7.5x16s is probably one of the best handling car you can ever drive. the wider your wheels the mopre power you need to turn them. that 306 is probably standard so its 170hp thats when its so light
Oh, I see. Anyways, I just bought 206 S16, 2.0 138 bhp, mint condition. And I have to say, that's the most fun I have ever had in a car, EVER, and I have driven much more powerfull cars, but this is something else. It's so damned fast, It's just not right lol It's faster than many of the more expencive and more powerfull cars. Weighs only 2300 pounds, It's insane. And the handling is a beauty. It's completly stock, and I'll keep it that way.
@Atrax2k8 I have never drive a S16 206 for the simple reason that i don't have my license yet. I attempt to it. But the data on the paper shows your impressions about this car.
Sorry for my bad english because i'm not english but french, i hope you have understand all my answer.
@bollier38 yes, on the paper that car seems really fast, but when you start to drive it and have fun with it, it's even better. It's not the fastest hothach on a straight line, but when you show it some corners...it's just a beauty, it's so light and agile.I'm telling you, I've driven alot faster and more powerfull cars, but this one just brings a smile to my face. Peugeots do that very well :D
@Atrax2k8 Peugeots cars are very efficient in the corner, the 206 S16, isn't too weighty, neither too light. It is in the middle. So, she is efficient in the curve...
He went in with way to much speed for the second corner. Then he lifted just before the second corner so the back swung around the wrong way. Then something strange happens, it looks like he floored it because the front pull the car straigth, but his rear wheels lock up.
It's ok to take a bit of speed into a corner, but a corner should be used to gain speed for the straigth, not to loose speed by braking through a corner.
Should have taken the first corner a little slower to avoid having to brake before the very near next corner. That way he can accelerate through the second corner, therefore maintaining traction. Oh well, everybody fucks up sometimes and it's best to fuck up on the track, and not on the road. Good on him.
@PanchoTadura I don't know how much worth it was without engine. The man i sold it to bought a new set up pistons and a new tensioner pulley and now it works again :P Now i have my fathers old Volvo 850 but i will sell it in February and buy a BMW M3 :)

@Atrax2k8 the 306 gti 6 is a better handling car i think than the 206 but the 405 mi16 is even better.

I just bought my first car today! Its a 1.9 306 diesel, I'm only 16 lol! I can see this happening to me only on a b-road and ending up in a ditch!
denis1110 3 years ago
You wont end up in a ditch if you dont drive like a tool. Get to know your car before you start pushing it, lift off oversteer may catch you out.
prism7guy 2 years ago 2
dude, theres not much lift off oversteer in a front wheel drive, 306 diesel
denis1110 2 years ago
I dont know, ive experienced some sideways action with both my gti6 and 1.4 306, just something to be aware and careful of.
prism7guy 2 years ago 2
yeah the 306 has quite a sporty chassis lol, my 1.6 will go sideways if you push it hard enough, thats the same bhp as your 1.9 if its dturbo :]
ninteh 2 years ago
good first car that mate, im on my second 1.9 diesel great little cars, oversteer can be a problem tho... thats how i lost my firs 1 lol

Ah I've moved on now, I still own the 306 but I bought a Citroen Berlingo van now too! 2.0 litre HDI engine, mental!
