I always find it awesome when a animal is rescued and rehabilitated from these situations, and then goes on to become a hero saving lives, or finding drugs, etc. (Popsicle, Weela, Norton, etc.)
I think it just shows how strong animals are, especially when they can come out of these kind of situations unafraid of humans despite what has been done to them.
