  • This is a song about a struggle that u can overcome !!!! I LOVE IT !!

  • Great song! Thanks!

  • As a proud black man I must point out that the lyrics of this song show a powerfully eloquent understanding of the struggles and promise of the black experience. It was written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil- both white. Contrary to our current political landscape, we truly do have the ability empathize with each other. I thank them both for this beautiful song.

  • where is she,damn!

  • It is a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr.

  • I SOOOOOOOOOOOO LOOVE THIS SONG...

  • heard on 107.5 N.Y. on subway ~very sincere

  • Sent to me by my new "lady of my life". BEAUTIFUL. Thank You!

  • AMAZING....and Timeless!!!

Thank you for the beautiful video!

  • This song is not about or for black ppl.. it's a wonderful song about overcoming adversities.. Anyone can relate to it.

  • This song is written by, about, recorded by and for black people. Because you can "relate to it," doesn't mean that you can lay claim to it. Your people tried to also say that Bob Marley's music wasn't about or for back people. Keep trying to rewrite history. We know better.

  • It really is for black ppl. I mean anyone can relate to it but most of stuff is black problems.

  • Tiny minded fool, our problems impact even your dumb ass. If you can't relate as a human being then you've got serious problems.

  • How could you not love this song?!? This woman's vocal range and manipulation is not to be rivaled, by any standards, even today. Brilliant, just sheer damn brilliant....

  • I danced this song with a young lady for her birthday at Terrace on the Park. My uncle Jerome and aunt Peggy set it up!

  • could someone explain to me what this song is about? Is it about the struggle of the black people overcoming oppression and their struggles or what. I love the song regardless. I agree with BlakeBarbieDoll about what she said for this being the black womans anthem!! : D

  • This song should be every Black Woman's anthem.

    Her voice is BEYOND angelic.

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll only for Black women? Not the men too? Didn't know it was a 'one-gender' song. Sounds universal to me.

  • @MystroMusicMan If you find inspiration in it, more power to you.

  • @BlakeBarbieDoll yea.. ok.

  • Her 1984 "Black Butterfly" has grown on me over the years.....monstrously great songwriting (I have to find out who wrote this gem) and instrumentation, and her oh-so-gifted vocals make it stellar.

Yup, the hair stand up when this plays!!

  • @AvlDao "Black Butterfly" was written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. Produced by George Duke (one of my favorite producers!).
