Nope, theose weren't the "Heavy Bands" back in the day. Those were the mainstream bands. There's always been an underground, and since the late 70's, there's always been bands heavy as fuck on it.

I am aware of "underground" its a term for unsigned bands, remaining unsigned becuase they have no talent.There was no one heavier than VENOM in 1982, underground,above ground,made from ground, and their record would be right beside the other bands I mentioned....thats all.

That's why you can't lump together bands lime Maiden, Priest and the Crue with bands like Kreator, Celtic Frost or Mercyful Fate.
