  • A lot of people are confused as to what the Dixies were singing about in this song.

The Dixie Chicks wrote this song about camel toe

  • @TheCauzeOfWetPantiez

    You just won the internet.

  • We listened to Dixie Chicks and DUG their music before covert missions up north against Al Qaeda and before covert missions in western Iraq and nobody gave a damn what their politics were--the music kept us sane. And thank God we survived. That was 2003-2006, with good men downrange. Thank you for your wonderful music, Dixie Chicks, and God bless you.

  • damn, I HATE VEVODixieChicks >:O they didnt let me watch this songs video cuz i WASNT IN THE RIGHT COUNTRY!! >:( stupid VEVO ANOYYING~!! woooohoooo DIXIE CHICKS!!! xD <3 THOES GIRLS <3 <3 <3 :D

  • @mpcontreras01 PURE,MEANINGFUL MUSIC SUNG FROM THE HEART - MAKES ME WANT TO TRAVEL AND SEE THE BEAUTY OF AMERICA - WE ARE BEING DEPRIVED OF DIXIE CHICKS ON RADIO

  • Great Talent ....beautifull voices ..... wonderfull.

  • Wow, people need to chill.

Come to Canada, have a pint and put on your toque.

There's more to life than criticizing other people's opinions, everyone can think their own thoughts and speak their own words... whether you like it or not.

    Relax!

  • Who cares what she said...it's FREAKING AMERICA!!!!! I'm proud to live here and thank god everyday for the soliders who protect our country so we can live in a free country where we can say whatever the hell we want. Hence the saying freedom of speech! The Chicks will always rock my world each and every day!

  • the chicks rock.................

  • Just watched shut up and sing last night and all I can say is that I am shocked, I was only around 12 when she made the statement so I hadn't remembered what exactly happen. I am shocked by how completely disgusting people reacted to her statement. I logged on to YouTube just so I could leave a comment saying how much I LOVE THE DIXIE CHICKS and that I miss them and their music so much. Seeing how some people reacted made me realize how dumb most redneck republicans are.

  • @Mjayne714 I couldn't agree with you more. They made an offhand remark that was well received as a joke in another country, and the idiots in this one went crazy for years over it. They are a great band who is proving their greatness by sticking to their guns and continuing to perform, regardless of what the idiots in this country seem to think. They are so strong, and should be celebrated for it, not bashed.

  • random dixie moment! this never happens.

  • I miss them ;( I wanna be a singer one day and when I am I am gonna cover their songs(:

  • @Halleproductions Just dont cover their hate America left wing politics !

  • I believe in things. Just though you'd like to know.

  • this is one of my new favorite song, even though i grew up with it. love it<3 i need wide open spaces!!!!

  • woohoo! dixie chicks! havent heard this in a whiiiile!

    good song :D

    x

  • i cry whenever i hear this song. me and my mom used to dance around the living room to this song every sunday when i used to help her clean. just the two of us, with the sun streaming through the little window of our small apartment. god i miss being a little girl with not a care in the world

  • You know what? I don't think it was wrong at all for these women to voice their opinions at all. The people who think its wrong have different opinions from these ladies. That's ok. Our Constitution tells us we can say what ever we want to say and ALSO that you have a right to not like it but it is in no way wrong! This country is way too soft nowadays. Let's bring back the old way of saying whatever the hell we want.

  • I adore this song!

Too bad these women are such pathetic, America-hating people. How dare they denigrate their president and by, extension, their country while on foreign soil, and during a time of war? Sick and traitorous!

One of the proudest moments of my life was watching the American people say with their wallets, "We will not stand for this!" And then they had the nerve to act like the victims. I don't think they've apologized to this day, have they?

  • @Yesica1993 Most successful female act in the history of music!!!!!! Suck it!!!

  • @JosephCa64 What are you, 10 years old? LOL!

And they are no longer the most successful group, that's for sure. Decent Americans refused to put up with such ugly, traitorous behavior from these rude women and let them know it by no longer supporting their work. It was wonderful!

  • @Yesica1993 There are still the most successful female act in music history--most records sold by a female act, ever. Their last album was 4Xs Platinum world wide(3Xs in America) and won 5 Grammys, album of the year, record of the year, song of the year. So, you can't deny their success. Get over the whole Bush thing already--you right wing loony toons "dis," the present CIC every day of the week. But,. it's OK when it's Obama . . . yes?

  • @Yesica1993 What happened to "respecting," the President during wartime? How come the right wing in America doesn't afford that same luxury to Barack Obama? They call him way worse things than Natalie ever called Bush. They call him a Muslim terrorist! The very people who attacked us and are boys are fighting. Please, you goobers need to grow a brain.

  • @JosephCa64 Barack Obama is a racist (demonstrated by his staying in J. Wright's church for 20 years), he apologizes to our enemies and insults our allies all over the world, and is leading our country to its destruction. I have zero respect for him and cannot wait until he is voted out.

    Goodbye.

  • @Yesica1993 Ok--so that's your opinion--now how would you feel if someone called you un-American for having that opinion? Or, called u a traitor, held protests against you, sent death threats to you and your family. You think it would be right to do that to you, simply becuz you stated your opinion?

  • @JosephCa64 My opinion, all based in FACT. Obama stayed in Wright's church 20 yrs. You can find Wright's anti-American, racist "sermons" on YT. Obama went on an apology tour as one of his first acts in office. He insulted our allies Britain and Israel. His socialist policies are leading this country to financial ruin. This is all fact.

The comments by the Chicks were their opinions based on what, exactly?

    THAT is the difference.

  • @JosephCa64 Why not call him a 'Muslim terrorist' if he is so sympathetic to the leaders of the countries that harbor and create numerous terrorists that hate America that he BOWS to those leaders?

Good grief. If only someone besides these 'right-wingers' COULD grow a brain..

  • @ecraven24 Yeah--he's really bowing to Khadaffi, isn't he???? HA!!!! Here's the rub--again, call him whatever you like. People shouldn't be demonized, or punished for calling a President anything. If you think Obama's a terrorist, that's your opinion. And, Natalie Maines said she was ashamed that Bush was from Texas--that was her opinion.

  • @ecraven24 Maybe he is just trying to spread the love. Its in our nature to fight with each other. Funny thing is the first black president we get doesn't want to fight. Making your enemies your friends is a step in the right direction for mankind.

  • @CakeProDuckShins And you'll be banging your head on the ground toward mecca or have your throat slit if you don't with that attitude. That is the friend this ass-clown of a president will bring home with him.

  • @Therealmensa I guess you don't understand where this world is going. People with thoughts like yours are the ones that will eventually destroy mankind. Stupid people being stupid I guess.

  • @Therealmensa Could you please explain your username to me? I'm really hoping that you aren't actually a real Mensa member sullying the name of the organization with your bible-thumping hillbilly redneck trash. If you are...well, the organization needs to refine their screening process, huh?

  • @lutetia128 I am an atheist, not a redneck or hillbilly. While we are on names, did you get your handle from the asteroid Lutetia and was that because you are the same shape? Or, did you steal it from the Gallo-Roman city best known as being located near present-day Paris, a region which has maintained its significance only by being the mecca of hairy legged whores?

  • @Therealmensa Ooo, this will be fun. Maybe you aren't actually as stupid as your comments make you sound. Always a treat. As for your attempts to discover the origins of the username, cute, but you missed one. I'm named after the typeface. Not the city, not the asteroid, not chemical compound, the typeface.

  • @lutetia128 How interesting! I searched for the typeface and found a few examples. I would love to carve your name onto a plaque and mount it on my trebuchet, but only if you agree to take a "ride". I built it to toss interesting items weighing up to 200 lbs. If you're not muslm or gay, then you would be a first in that regard. If the typeface username was chosen because it, like you, doesn't get used often, here is an out for you.

  • @Yesica1993 so...we should assume that you're now ripping Sarah Palin for speaking badly of her president on foreign soil last week too right?...or have you instead chosen hypocrisy as your platform on the matter?...after all...according to you, what the Dixie Chicks did was treasonous, therefore...it must be treason when Palin did the exact same thing ....right?

  • @johnny2366 What nonsense. I don't know what she said this particular time, but everything she's said about Obama has also been based on the facts that I listed in my previous comment. Go look them up and then show me where any of them are false. I dare you.

  • @Yesica1993 that isnt the issue...it was a fact that the Dixie Chicks were embarrassed that Bush was from Texas.( as so many others are and were ).. that's not what people were so outraged about...the complaint was they spoke poorly of their President on foreign soil....just as Palin did last week...so again...is hypocrisy your chosen platform?.. if you are not speaking out about Palin now the way you are about the DC.then you have chosen hypocrisy...there is no other way to see it

  • @johnny2366 Like I said, I don't know what Sarah Palin is supposed to have said. The point is whether what was said was true or false. The Chicks were ashamed of GWB because their hatred of him was based in lies - that he lied to go to war in Iraq, that we were there for oil, that he stole the election in 2000, etc. All of these things (and more that I can't recall offhand) are false.

But once again, for whatever reason, this vital distinction is lost on you.

  • @Yesica1993 are you on crack?...the Bush administration did lie about the Iraq war..have you not read Donald Rumsfeld's book?...do you even know who he was?...and the election was awarded to him in 2000..he did not win it...the distinction of fact, reality, and truth are what are lost on you....I'm actually sitting here stunned that your level of ignorance runs so deep that it allows you to make a post like you just made..I feel sorry for you...you're clearly lost in the Fox News rhetoric machine

  • @johnny2366 What lies? U.S. Intelligence (as well as that of other countries) showed there were WMD. That is not a lie.

I was going to go look up tons of info for you, but your assumption that I am ignorant and your assumption that I watch FOX News (as thought that's something evil in the first place) demonstrates to me that you are a closed minded person who has no interest it looking at facts and coming to a fair minded conclusion about those facts. Am I right?

  • @Yesica1993 you're simply incorrect...they have admitted that were in fact...no wmd in Iraq...instead saying they " thought they had the technology to one day produce wmd's" which can be said for nearly any country in the world..this is a basic fact that is common knowledge to the rest of the entire world at this point... if you'd like the link of Bush saying in his own words on video that he was wrong and in fact there were no wmd's...Id be happy to give it to you

  • @johnny2366 Feel free to show me any evidence that "proves" GWB deliberately lied to get us into Iraq. (It would be nice to hear what motivation you think he had.) While you're at it, feel free to show me what false thing Sarah Palin said about Obama.

  • @Yesica1993 Bush admits that iraq had nothing to do with 9/11..that's your link..first off, you're dabbling in semantics in hopes of finding something that will give your ridiculous and embarrassingly ignorant perspective of what has happened in this country over the last decade some shred of credibility..you choose to believe that the Bush administration was so incredibly incompetent that it invaded Iraq and killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's by mistake..and he was incompetent no question.

  • @Yesica1993 ...secondly, the debate isn't whether what Palin said about Obama was true or not...it was simply her opinion which fewer and fewer people even listen to anymore...the question is, where are the people like you who call the DC traitors for speaking poorly of Bush on foreign soil now that your golden girl has committed the same treason?..try to keep up, because I have no intention of re-directing you back to the debate at hand over and over

  • @johnny2366 Of course the debate is whether what Palin said about Obama is true or not. But of course you refuse to even provide that information - if it even exists at all.

  • @Yesica1993 no simpleton..it isnt the debate....I asked you a question the day this started....that question was, why are you not calling Palin a traitor now that she has done the same thing that you call the Dixie Chicks traitors for doing...I didn't ask you what she said, what they said....or whether each of their opinions of the President in question were true or not...again..I have no intentions of trying to keep you focused on the question at hand...

  • @Yesica1993 you're right on one account..I do indeed close my mind to the numbing ignorance I see in people like you every day....but lets agree to disagree....you believe the Bush administration was so incompetent that they invaded a country over what amounts to an intel mistake, because that's what they tell you, it's what Bush says in the video link I gave you and it's what Rumsfeld says in his book....and I believe they knew exactly what they were doing and lied about it..

  • @johnny2366 I proved myself willing to consider any evidence you have of your accusations. Here we are back and forth for a bit and you refuse to provide any. Why is that?

I'll tell you why - because there is none, and you know it! So all you have are personal attacks against me. Thanks for admitting that on the internet for the world to see. Goodbye.

  • @Yesica1993 did you not get the link I just gave you of Bush admitting he was wrong?...have you not read Rumsfeld's book?...how much more evidence do you need than Bush himself admitting it?...haha...you're pathetic....My guess is no, you've not read Rumsfeld's book..and no..you didnt even bother to go watch the video I just told you to put into your youtube search...you instead choose selective ignorance...ignorant to anything that proves you wrong...which I have done

  • Brings back SO many memories of me & my sister when we were little. When the world was a better place (:

    I miss this :/

  • @onehunnyfoeva Cheer up! The cycle of good and bad goes back way before we were around kiddo! Roll with the punches and be ready for when the good times roll, keep smilin'!

  • @indyrl Thanks (:

  • Funny... S London boy who hates country music but this song will always stay with me, it was out when we emigrated to the wide open spaces of British Columbia.

  • i still have their first cd. i didn't let their political retric get in the way. just like i didn't let the comments that somebody else had said about being more popular than jesus..

  • This reminds me of bein a little girl in the car listen to the radio with my mommy(:

  • Love these girls! Come back to us soon!

  • I LOOOVVEEE TTHHHIIISSSS SOONNNNGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Please stop bringing all of the political crap onto each and everyone of their videos.

  • if u dont like their music..You dont have to listen and its just that simple..I love these girls and Im so proud of them for opening their mouths and speaking up....Way to go Dixie Chicks...I hate the war too..And this dude Chris Hill needs to pull his boxers out his ass!!!

  • @ChrisHill991 you do make me laugh -.- so free speech is a crime now is it?????? I agree with @Vanqua1 They are amazing and the war was wrong and they werent the only ones who hated it!

  • i never get thumbed up comments ;(

  • @skrabban60 well heres yur first thumbs up!!!!

  • I'm going to be singing this song when I leave the nest for college in a few months :(. Makes me sad but excited to start my new life and get more focused and learn to do what I love better.

  • the music speak for itself

  • oh the dixie chicks, how i love them! sang this song for my 5th grade talent show.:)

  • this is it, one of my childhood songs :)

  • Kind of a nostalgic song for me cause I had just moved out west for a cheap place to rent. And this song was on in the grocery store. Far as the polilitcal bull shit they`re were right to speak they`re minds. Let the fucking politicians go fight the wars, Fucking basturds.

  • I agree give it up, they make beautiful music and what they said was years ago. Give it up already, build a bridge and get over it, enough already. It's called Freedom of Speech for a reason!

  • i love this song, i grew up listening to it :)

could care less about politics, if i wanted to discuss them id be on cnn.com or at least a political video, Not the Dixie Chicks old country jams

  • wide open space is what i need new faces too i agree with this song a hundred percent

  • Most of the relatively recent Dixie Chick support is solely the result of their coming out against President Bush and little else. If Natalie had not uttered those comments, the very same people would be calling them White Trash, Hillbillies, Rednecks or some other assinine label. Oh and where is the same critique for Obama as he's continuing Bush's war policies? Not a peep (pun intended) from the Bush hater HYPOCRITES.

  • whateva....my son is a Marine...on his way to Afghanistan.....it is not George Bush's war anymore. We have a New President......

  • For all of you Bush supporter? Grow up, country doesn't have to be allways conservative and this is a beautiful song. So go write a blog if you need to vent... just a thought.

  • money making country music that´s why she singing

  • I love this song. I remember when I was a little girl my mom would always blast this song in the car. and I remember especally when it was raining so hard outside and we were listening to this song. I miss those days......

  • The country music industry owes the Dixie Chicks an apology for their failure to support them against the right wing wackos who acted like Nazis after they criticized Bush. They were right, Bush was wrong and I will never forgive the big name acts who wouldn't step up and take their side. These chicks have bigger balls than most country hick, hillbilly rednecks...because they kept to their beliefs under incredible odds and are still the best country artists ever. I love the Chicks

  • @MARILLIONROCKER45 one funny thing too was a reporter asked Willie Nelson about it when it happened and he supported them and really went off about Bush . the reporter just turned around and walked away because it wasnt the answer they wanted.

  • I just did a Dixie Chicks cover on my youtube. I just set up my account last night! Please check it out and subscribe! Thanks guys! -Kate

  • I like this girls, their music and videos as well.. they are awesome.... mmmmm i love them..... ...

  • I like this girls, their music and videos as well.. they are awesome.... mmmmm i love them.....

  • Glad you asked. The DC's never offered the Red Cross a million dollar donation, though they said they did. Rick Rubin and Weinstein were really reaching on that one. The DC's were invited twice to join the Red Cross's National Celebrity Council, something they could have done for little or no money, and they refused. And after this, they try to sell that they tried to offer a donation of that size? LOL. See the Red Cross Org site for the truth. No donation was ever offered.

  • I bet Natalie has a wide open space between her lips. I'll take the banjo playing babe anyday.

  • Such beautiful and talented artists. They're great musicians.

  • i feel like this song i need to leave town for awhile

  • Rock and Roll was all about making political statements when it first arose. Somehow minds have been twisted in believing that you're not supposed to sing about anything but love and loss. Wake up!

  • @rustyscalpel68 You're an idiot.

  • @Therealmensa

...and you're a genius because you're 'The real mensa'. Hilarious.

  • I remember listening to this song when I was like 3 years old. I would run around the house dancing and singing this song.

  • here in alaska we have wide open spaces, what is it about 650,000+ thousand square miles with over 3,000,000 lakes.

  • i love how one line in a song can bring you back to great memories .this song reminds me of being a kid.i love it !

  • Hey i sing for a band called Allegro Fudge and Dixie Chicks are quite an influence. We just released a song called Colors Fly. Check it out if you have the time :)

Type Allegro Fudge - Colors Fly

  • I love you beautiful women and your songs dont let people bring you down cause all humans make mistakes... FUCK HATERS!!!

  • no problem with what they said about bush, problem with them saying it in europe or anywhere outside this country. You don't trash talk your people or country to scum who relish it

  • I just wanted to say this is a great song, it was my song when I left home. I love it.

  • When I watched their documentary Shut up and Sing, I felt for them. They are beautiful, talented and smart ladies. They made a mistake, and altough they didn't really seem remorseful, it's time ot move on. hasn't it been almost 8 years?

  • @SarahWhitlockBlack

im not sure what they said about bush to be honest but i wouldn't say anything good about him myself so high 5 to them for saying what they feel, its cowardly otherwise

  • Awe.... Pretzel eyes!

  • this decirbes how my life is turning out to be, with going off to college and moving away from home; so many new possibilities!

  • I have ALWAYS loved the dixie chicks i love this song.....so me new places room to make my own mustacks...as life is full of them dont jugg me i do my best with what i have.

  • My Baby girl......

  • @cantbuymelove94 that is like so freakin true i love these girlz but i realii love this song itz soo loveable Who cares about negative comments *that are old !! * ♥

  • These Ladies are Great and I love them. I am glad they are who they are and not whimps just going for the Loot and jingoistic rhetoric like a lot of others They spoke their minds as any true America Patriots should. That takes GUTS...God Bless them and God Bless America

  • @ChrisHill991 . then god hates you for hating others!!!!

  • @ChrisHill991 Yes because ALL liberals are atheist scum. Totally agree with you. You're obviously a tolerant and well educated fine example of a person.

    Idiot.

  • @ChrisHill991 I won't lie and say I'm an expert on American politics, but from an outside view, it seems liberals are more into freedom, such as freedom of speech, religion, + other basic things that you know, your entire country was founded on?

And I'm sure they don't "hate" your troops, in fact I'm pretty sure a lot of liberals probably have children in the army themselves.

    Just my opinion.

  • @rockchapelboy92 Actually we're founded on seeing a nice piece property and telling the Natives that we would do a bunch of sh** that we never did :O

  • @rockchapelboy92 that is your point of view, its wrong but its your point of view, liberals are idiots, they say they are all anti-war, anti-death, and yet they dont stop the biggest murder sorce, abortion. Abortion kills 1.7 babies a second, 102 a minute, 6120 a hour, 146,880 a day, 1,028,160 every week, and over 55 million a year! A babies life isnt the mothers to take away, its Gods. this song = 370 babies this comment = 86.7 babies

    13 years of living = 715,000,000 babies! Pro-Life!

  • @Lionkingexpert1 at least you recognise it's an opinion, which is a lot more enlightened than most of the people on Youtube. I won't get into my views on the Pro-Life/Pro-Choice campaigns here as it will only start a flame war.

  • @rockchapelboy92 I'm not sure your right... And I'm sure your not saying that again.

  • @3xXANGELXx I don't understand the second part of your comment, but your entitled to disagree with what I said. As I said, I'm not an expert on this subject.

  • @rockchapelboy92 Whatever you don't need to know.

  • These Ladies are Great and I love them. I am glad they are who they are and not whimps just going for the Loot and jingoistic rhetoric like others They spoke their minds as any true America Patriots should.

  • reminds me of my pre-braces days.....

  • I'm from Texas and I love the Dixie Chicks.. Love the music.

  • There is so much about this song that I love. It's happy, fun, catchy, and takes me to a place where I feel good. Whether or not you like it, that's your thing. I love this song.

  • People like ice cream and giggles more than vinegar. That's why the DC videos, after years of being posted and surrounded with so much controversy, have fewer views than a few week's worth of Shaytards. Slowly, DMCA's are shutting down the DC videos. What few remain are no doubt being used to feel the pulse of public opinion. I am glad this video remains, as I too appreciate the music. I don't sit on my hands however, when someone tries to make them more than they are or were outside the music.

  • @Therealmensa You have some kind of obsession with the DC huh?

  • @meandmyairstream Well, I will say I was intrigued by the uncoordinated but nearly complete rejection of the Dixie Chicks which occurred in 2003. Then, when I heard Natalie Maines repeatedly refer to her comment as a joke, and doing everything she could to minimize it, I assumed she would move on and make music. When they instead made the agenda their focus, I started researching. What I found amazed me. Now, I drag out those facts to anyone who was disillusioned by the DC propaganda campaign.

  • @meandmyairstream She's self center egotistical big mouth bitch who thinks people give a shit what she thinks. She makes decission in life based on her own miserable life and usually misses by a long shot. She believes that everyone ont he Internet should be fluent in typing so even a dumbass twat like her can understand. Basically, She should go douche and get back to the cat house and finish her career rather than being on youtube answering everyone else's comments with her stupidity!

  • And yes, they lost big time on their last album. It was published they sold 2 million. Well, Sony is their label and the biggest dog on RIAA who awards based on sales. They had everything to gain and nothing to lose by overstating sales. If they DID sell 2 million, they still lost a ton, as they must have pressed millions more. The bargain bins are full.

  • I miss them i wish they would come back with a new album.

  • @stevenmatthewcadena They didn't drag out a crowd of any size on their last outing with the Eagles; crowds were actually smaller. While the sisters may be TALKING collaboration with Maines, the lack of response on that last outing should show them it won't pay. I hope they DO make an album. They will find their fan base is so small, a national sized pressing will just fill up the bargain bins like the last one did.

  • god loves the dixie chicks and so do i ! and the 142 people wwho disliked can go jump of a bridge

  • @lynnlasalle You're funny!

  • I love all of your songs

  • Dixie Chicks got killed for there comments... They learn a hard lesson that Country don't give a damn that the president was a jack ass who couldn't find his ass if he sat down on it. Dixie Chicks said what they people felt but didn't understand that Country music supported the war. WHAT COUNTRY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WAS PEOPLE SUPPORTED THE TROOPS NOT THE WAR!!!!!

  • Chicks rule...Bush sucks. Threaten me! please!

  • If a rapper said what they said nothing more would have been said because they are allowed to be outspoken and risque, but because they are outspoken women with opinions of their own it is frowned upon, they are amazing women and musicians, i could listen to them all day, amazing songs with so much emotion

  • @lucylocket2114

Exactly, I think that gender has plenty to do with the controversy. No one suspected the DC's would do that, but they did and all of a sudden you people calling them every name in the book for what, freedom of speech. People can disagree on opinions, but to outright say I don't like their music or I don't want to listen to them bc of their politics is irrational especially if they were fans before the incident. People still have friends who don't share the same beliefs as them.

  • @thefasteddy2 To say you have to continue being a fan of someone who makes comments you find offensive is a ridiculous concept. They had and have freedom of speech. They said whatever they wanted every day. Imagine if I was a well known celebrity and said you female types should stay barefoot, pregnant, and speak only when spoken to. You're saying if you liked my music before, then you would buy my newest album? Get real. What you want for the DC's is freedom from consequences.
