@bill739 highest engine idle speed with very little wheel speed if any at all. You dont want it too low as your lights and turn signals will not be as bright or flash as quickly. also not so fast as that it is hitting on the clutch and causing the moped to lurch or "grab" when stopped at a light
question . i have the same bike. its new to me. its +5 degrees here in Canada now. the bike really does like to run in the cold . above 0 its ok . now my bike has a steady stream of blue smoke coming out the tail pipe and when i first started it black oil came out the tail pipe and dripped on the ground . also a small amount around the engine . that has since stopped how much smoke is should i be seeing in this cool weather and what about the black oil that dripped down .
@bill739 If you still have the stock oil injection on. I would disconnect it and premix the fuel especially if your running in cold weather, the factory oil injection is not engineered well and the cold oil will not flow at a favorable rate. Running in the cold weather you would probably see more smoke than normal due to the engine running at a colder temp. The black oil is probably the sign of a coked up pipe. go to mopedarmy forums and post ?'s how to decarbonize you pipe. thx
i just bought a 2006 tomos targa its 65cc under the seat its pink oil is that for brake fluid or what? and are these things 2 stroke do i put oil and gas in the gas tank for mixture need help asap please.
@Raverboy64 That is the 2 stroke oil for the engine. You dont have to premix your fuel although after you learn a little more about the mechanics of the ped you may want to remove the oil pump and start pre- mixing the gas and oil as Tomos oil pumps have been known to fail and seize the engines.
definetly get a GPS to check your speed. The speedometers are off sometimes as much a 7 mph. Having a car follow and check isnt accurate either. Buy a GPS. My other Tomos says 47 and Im really doing 41mph.
nice moped! the only bad thing is the exaust. i had the same moped (with A5 engine) and changed the exaust. but there something wrong with it. same as here. the backwheel should be spinning while on kickstand. right?
Actually no, if the back wheel barely spins, it is considered ok. but if the wheel spins considerably that means the clutch is engaged. When the ped is off the stand and you come to a stoplight, the clutch will be trying to engage the entire time you are at a standstill.
another question how do i know if i have the idle speed set correctly do i just guess by the rear wheel spin speed or what

so many 14-15 year old kids commenting on this vid, their ignorance amazes me. they all seem to get tomos bikes, too.

hey there i just got a 2001 targa today but i cant find the key slot please help
GGBULLETz 2 years ago
turn your handle bars to the right and look at the down tube just below the handlebars, between the forks and the gas tank.
Foxboss9 2 years ago
@Foxboss9 now like i mean the ignition key to start up the bike
GGBULLETz 2 years ago
there is not an ignition key. There is a switch on the right handlebar grip that turns it on and off.
