in reply to graffiguy. beasties mediocre? . pauls boutique is much believed to be one of the best albums by anyone of all time, bro. beasties blew it the fuck out at bonnaroo. in my top 5 shows of all time, easily. btw, those phish shows were my 149-150th. they were good, too;D
"Bonnaroo was partly inspired by Phish Festivals."
Bruce is a legend but his age shows. He is a great entertainer but I don't always want to be "entertained" at concerts. Phish are old too yet they're playing some of the best stuff of their careers at the moment.
Ii have to say, Bruce is probably the greatest live performer in the history of rock - nothing against Phish (who unabashedly admire Bruce) or Al Green. The Beastie Boys have always been mediocre. Even a tired Springsteen rocks like no one else.
I would agree with you to an extent. Ive seen Bruce 3 or 4 times and each time, neglecting his Bonnaroo performance this year that was subpar at best, he is a great performance. That being said its like apples and oranges. Bruce does what a lot of people do really well. Phish does something no one else does, the best.
The Beastie Boys are old and tired...my highlights were Phish, Bruce (when he busted out Seeger Sessions and NOT Born in the USA) Del McCoury Band & Todd Snider...excellent festival!
Unfortunately Bruce's voice was really shot - might have had something to do with playing in 48 degree weather in Norway a few days earlier. He's actually the only old timer I can think of who's vocal abilities has improved with age rather than declined. It's always a shame when spectators get a less than accurate first impression of a performer.
You're a moron. Having seen Springsteen 30-something times, and Phish more than that, I can unabashedly say he's the greatest live entertainer there's ever been - the true embodiment of rock 'n' roll. If it wasn't for the family reunion I was obliged to attend, I would have been there. Bruce and Phish co-headlining an event is the equivalent of a musical wet dream for me and it will never happen again.
Um so does Bonnaroo. They announce their second round of bands in April. :) Sounds like you are a noob. Will this be the second festival you have ever been too? lol
Nah not elite. I just work for Bonnaroo, Wakarusa and All Good festivals. Last year's Rothbury was way better. Rothbury needs MMJ or Panic to make it worthwhile. But yea to each his own I guess.
@dimez4ever it's not. It's like when a band that you love loses 90% of its lineup but continues to go by the same name. The band may still be great, but it's not that band anymore. The Roo is now a corporate affair for mainstream bands.
Sorry but I phuckin H8 Spingstein. What a cheesey artist. Save that old BS for someone old that was born to run.

Anyone that would say that Phish or Trey had more energy then Bruce couldn't have possibly been there.

Hey man I never insulted you, what the hell? Are you some sort of elite festival attendee that is on a higher plateau than everyone else?
All that I said was it was going to be a hard decision. Have fun at Bonnaroo for me.
