  • I remember playing this when Sega CD came out back in the day. Was cool ,never thought the whole system was gonna flop badly

  • cool

  • I watch this and I remember when I was young...good memories :)

  • Just to let you all know, Stuttering Craig hates Ecco the Dolphin. This has been some running gag for ScrewAttack, who love to beat up a short-lived video-game series that I'd actually take over Sonic any day of the week. After several criticisms for his thoughts on the first Ecco game, Craig's response was a highly sarcastic view on the sequel Tides of Time.

To summarise it: "Oh man, I'm so sorry for bashing Ecco. This game is actually good for all of this awesome stuff. No, Ecco sucks."

  • Second version of opening movie of ecco sucked. thumbs up if you agree.

  • I don't know how anyone in their right mind can say the Genesis version has better music. I generally love Genesis chip tunes, but ETD was one of the few Genesis games that didn't take advantage of the system's abilities. Nilsen's score is so much better it isn't even funny.

  • wait, i had a sega cd versoin with fully rendered badass cutscenes. Is that different from this?

  • love that sega Yamaha chip sounds almost exactly like a DX7

  • OMG!!! there's my favourite game in Sega CD..I just love it.

I used to play almost everyday..

  • holy poo i remember playing this when i was 4 my older cousin got the sega cd when it just came out... such a long time ago

  • @BHOgr1989 I can say the same thing almost. Nostalgia eh? Now try and rememeber your first "Worms" game with your freinds ;)

  • oh shit so realistic sounds

  • This music sounds a lot like the theme for the spooky show "Unsolved Mysteries"

    Very haunting :)

  • this game was so hard for me. I love it though!

  • amazing game

  • This may sound a bit harsh, but i like the sounds WAAAAAAAAY more in this version. The normal sounds were just kinda ear-splitting, especially the splashing noise.

  • OMG OMG OMG I REMEMBER THIS

  • Bottle nose dolphins are my favourite animals.

    :)

  • no you defo was not alone i never understood this game atall i still loved it tho lol

  • Me too i would love because everything was so beautiful

  • @0spazzy0yazzy0 This game is about sea creatures and even a speficic type.

ask that again and cut out everyting bad about sea creatures.

    *JOKE*

  • sega cd version had a great soundtrack

  • sorry about the comment below it was for something else I just typed it in the wrong place. Nice video, check mine out.

  • dang homie.

  • I love the music, sometimes it relaxing, other times it's creepy.

  • i bought this game today, and the excellent sound is from Q sound!!

  • Gonna have to disagree with the uploader of this vid. I much prefer the Megadrive midi tunes.

  • whell you suck

  • I shit on you!

Bob is right, the cartridge has actual melodies and not some random string of mellow tunes.

  • If I remember correctly, the same composer did the music for both versions.

  • Then you do not remember correctly!

  • I sort of prefer the genesis version. Somthing about the 16-bitness of the music made it kind of creepy, which oddly fit.

  • Totally agree with you!

  • the sega cd version had the best music

  • For those who are interested and/or not aware, the constellation is Delphinius (the Dolphin), and the "star" that flashes just before the scene changes is actually a familiar blue planet we call... Rigel VII. Or Vortex, I forget which.

    Tube deployed!

  • probably "vortex" as that would be more in keeping with the game, as the enemies are called "the vortex"

  • Snif snif T.T thanks!!

    Ecco is the best game!!

  • that extra cut scene after the title is so cool! i used to have this game for sega CD and i never, ever noticed that, haha?

  • that was cool and very different i have this game on the sega genesis collection for PS2 and its a hard game

  • I like the music in the normal version better. Although it almost does sound like Tony Banks of the band Genesis is doing the soundtrack here.

  • wow me 2and the music was great

  • I love this game

  • i wanna see the Asterite!

  • I remember playing this for the Gennesis. Ahhhhh, good times. good times. Nice music for the sega CD

  • So are these taken from an actual Sega CD or from an emulator?

  • I never record any emulation. All of my videos are genuine, with everything recorded from my original systems (I have all of them), through an external video capture device to my laptop.

I also don't edit the videos at all, so you see it exactly as it's being played on the actual system...load times and all.

  • can you send me somehow this or at lease the segacd part. I want to make a music video with the vocal version of "st gaberail's mask" and i'd like it.

  • may sound weird but i prefer the music in genesis version..yeah quality may be worse but it had better tunes.

  • Ecco 2 Tides of Time was even better. Not only was it superior to the Genesis but IMO better than any Ecco released for PS. I purchased "Defender of the Future" for PS2 and it SUCKED compared to T.O.T. for the Sega CD. Ecco 2 Tides of Time for Sega CD remains one of my favorite games ever, for any system.

  • i am a ecco fan too and i have the pc,PS2 and wii version of ecco the dolphin. but did you guys know that there is a movie of ecco the dolphin. i saw a dvd last when we were in the city. it was called ecco the dolphin yourney to vortex the movie and it had 2 ecco trailers as bonus. i looked on the internet for the movie but i cant find any information at all. anyway i think that i'm going too buy the dvd since it is something special and it costs 5€.

  • No duh it's better. The CD can hold so much more than a 32-bit cartridge. But dude? The story sucked. It was so completely off the base of Ecco that is was like some seperate game. I seriously can't agree that Ecco CD was better than the originals. Even the music was unique; now it just sounds like the common composer wrote it.

  • i agree.

  • Yes, and the official soundtrack is amazing...you ecco music fans should definitely check it out:

    Title: Ecco: Songs of Time

    Publisher: Sega Music Group

    Catalog Number: 697-124 126-2

    Release Date: September 3rd, 1996

  • The music is so good. The ambient style of a lot of the songs was perfect for the game.

  • I loved the music they used. Nielsen did good job when composing the music

  • imo, this was his only good score. As the music he did for the US version of Sonic CD sucked

  • I agree. Why did Sega even decide to give Sonic CD a new soundtrack for the US version anyway? It makes no sense. Euro soundtrack FTW.

  • right on :D

  • Awesome, love this game.

  • The hardest level in this game is the boss, the fun levels are when you meet the blue whale and when you have to swim away from the sharks.

  • I love the Ecco games. I haven't played this version, I have got the PC version. But it's great!

    This intro is awesome!

  • There is. It's been out for a long time. It was first on Sega Dreamcast, then they moved it to Playstation 2. The game rocks, but it's much harder than the Sega Genesis version. I'm hoping they'll make a new one for ps3.

  • It's pretty easy compared to the original. It's probably on par with 'Tides'.

  • It's pretty easy compared to the original. It's probably on par with 'Tides'.

  • It's pretty easy compared to the original. It's probably on par with 'Tides'.

  • This game was fun but hard

  • I loved this game. I'm gonna go get it out of the closet and play it!

  • Yeah. I'm agree with Airehk.
