  • I can play the bass part for this anthem I like it more for the tuba =P

  • Great Job I am learning the star spangled banner on the Alto Sax. Learning an instrumunt is a great experience.

  • I think you breath too much. I am I tuba player my self. And I dont get out of breath every5 Measures... No offense, breathing should be only every 8 measures imo. very fine and beautiful sound.

  • Do you have a Yamaha F Tuba, the same as Peter Opaskar?

  • Best rendtion of our national anthem so far! 'The Star-Spangled Banner' is one of my favorite national anthems of the world, along with 'O Canada' and 'God Save the Queen'. Sorry for being curious, but do you know those two national anthems as much as you know ours? I know that there are various songs that are sung to the tune of 'God Save the Queen', from the 'Prayer of the Russians' to 'America' (Samuel Francis Smith's musical ode to our country that is 'of thee I sing'). Anyhow, well played.

  • the breathing is just fine and also was wondering what model horn that is

  • Salute the Flag!!!

  • Nice 5/5

    (And sun glasses FTW)

  • Your F tends to go considerably sharp...

  • well done --

  • well the tuba requires alot of breath to play

  • no shit sherlock.

  • im just saying cuz everyone is saying hes breaths too much

  • that was pretty nice

  • idk you arnt holding the long notes long enough.

  • graet sound, but he is breathing too often!

  • check jack-678s virsion out its cool

  • the star strangled banner is more like a trumpet song I play trumpet

  • :40 to :56 it felt like u took 2 many breathes

    heres a hint

say how out aloud the say it backwords and then mouth it my band uses it all the time and it was a great tool that one of our student teachers shared with us!

    very nice Trills osm

  • Great !!! GOOD LUCK !!!

  • Better then I can play on the piano

  • work on taking less breaths,

    do breathing exercises

    other than that, quite elequent

  • Excellent. Only problem I had was that you take too many breaths in the wrong places. Good job though!

  • nice wered you get the music from?

  • nice trill

  • damn it dude i need the actual part 4 the bass cuz i cant figure out how it goes

  • This is a good version.

I like the one we use for marching band better though.

That variation uses a lot of a flats though.

    Keep it up.

  • I like that quick vibrato. That's nice.

Dude, you should look into getting some nice audio equipment for recording, some high quality stuff. You could sound a lot better with better equipment.

  • Hey! nice sound you have a beautiful horn...if i had a camera-Your videos would be outnumbered!:) keep on playin!

  • maybe he takes to many breaks because he is playing very laud ...

god job dylan keep doing that i'm learnign very mutch with you..

  • wo, i play thy tuba. awsome

  • verry nice! i wish i new how to play that version the i would play it 4 my band derector, his dad served in nom.

  • wow you've got some serious talent. i play trumpet

  • where did u get the music ?

  • shouldn't that be flat on that d' or e'

  • can u plz tell me where u got the music?

  • Nice playing, do u think u can send me the notes for that?

  • Very Heart-warming.

  • I'm available for major league ballgames, etc... :)

  • so this was your first video

  • Yep, the first one.

  • Have you ever done something for a AAA league team?

Have you ever done something for the Oakland Raiders?

  • That would be fun!

  • Really? Just major league? lol. If there were a Raiders-Reds game that you could go to that'd be cool. However, I don't think that they play that often.

  • @tubadylan hahaha. I love it.

You do a really nice job!

  • tubas whooooooooo

  • How on earth did you develop that beautiful sounding vibrato??? I try and although it fits in with the pieces it doesnt sound as natural...

  • I listen to Ella Fitzgerald.

  • nice vibroto, its hard to do that on tuba

    you rock

  • You should play some melodies that the norwegian

tuba-player 'Oystein Baadsvik' plays in Tuba Carnivale.

    Check him out on WorldOfBrass

  • I must ask. Do you do any euphonium work or are you strictly tuba?

  • I actually play all the brass instruments, but do not currently own a euphonium. I also am a composer for film. television, and commercials and write original songs. Thanks for asking.

  • excellent!

  • The breathing and phrasing is fine.. As a Tuba and Euphonium player, I can say that he did a wonderful job of incorporating his breaths within the phrases. playing tuba ain't like playing trumpet.... tuba players sometimes have to move over 7 liters of air per minute through the horn (thank you arnold jacobs).. compared to the 2 or 3 liters of air per minute that most trumpet players go through... huge difference!

  • sounds nice

  • play ball !!!!

  • nice video but the end seemed a bit out of place

  • very good i liked that !! only one critisism if i may say ... (as a musician but does not and has not ever played a tuba- i play drums flute trumpet keyboard and bass guitar and i sing)

is to mebbe work on phrasing a little more and taking breaths at more approprite times in the music ie oh say can u see (B) by the dawns early light (B) what so proudy we hailed (B) at the twilights last gleaming (B)= breathe :D

  • uhhh... as a tuba player... the phrasing is just fine. It takes too much air to play the whole phrase.

  • I am a tuba player... It...is...possible. It all in your mind.

  • I'd love to see a video... 8 bar phrases... proper dynamics... at about the tempo heard above!

  • Lol. Don't get your panties in a knot. Okay, I'll work it up for you. I have heard Fritz Kenzing and Velvet Brown do it.

  • I shall unknot my panties whilst you do it without modulating to a higher key or playing it on F or Eb!

  • That's good - a drummer telling a brass player how to breath! LOL!

  • lol i was just suggesting. i have heard this tune played a few times on tuba so it IS possible to take breaths on phrase endings.
