  • Really don't like it, the theme is awful, even the Delaware arrangement is better.

  • Good title sequence. And this version of the theme is so sinister.

  • I like it, its darker than the other themes that makes it stand out, too bad this sequence could never be used on tv :(

  • love it, theme kinda reminds me of the Trial of a Timelord variation.

  • this theme is the worst one yet, apart from glynn's theme

  • hi phil mind if i use part of your title sequence for my series ( i'll put you on the credits at the end)

  • If only Dr Who hadn't have been cancelled in 1989... darn the BBC. I grew up without a Doctor.

  • @Red23791

    You poor thing!

  • total crap

  • Damn, this is actually very good. I like.

  • good show!

  • I like this theme

  • im depressed, i was looking for the real one!

  • This is better than the real one!

  • I wish you cut out the watch and the hands...just the head lol...otherwise, great!

  • Is this the same David Arnold who did music for the recent James Bond Films?

  • Yes, it's just a shame that this isn't as good as his James Bond efforts. When I first heard about this version, I was wondering if he would a full orchestral version, which if he did would've pre-dated Murray Gold's efforts 4 years later, but unfortunately it's one of his more experimental efforts. To give credit where it's due, it does work, but it's just not as good as the other TV arrangements of the WHO theme.

  • @Trayusstudent1

    Yes.

  • LOL Not bad at all. About time he got opening titles... Good show!

Asteroids in the time stream always give me the willies... (Hmm sung to the tune of raindrops on my shoulders that could be kind of catchy...)

  • Pretty good. There's no hiding that those stars are arranged to be Tom Baker's face though.

  • wheres this theme from?

  • bbc big finish productions who make the dr who audio dramas

  • Awesome that was really good!

  • I really miss the tardis from the movie and I wish they kept it... but they probably would have ditched it because of the many moving objects and it would have suited the 9th doctor when the show came back but it is a real shame.

  • good video but the song is to slow. I like Paul's real song. Dr.WHO themes should be fast like Peter Davidson and Chris Eccl. had. I think its cooler that way.

  • When played quite slowly I think the Doctor Who theme tune is just chilling, as it is here, but perhaps that doesn't make a good intro to a TV show. Anyway, I think this is brilliant, the music and the video.

  • It's not really any slower than the original is it? The only time the tempo went up was in the 80s; the current version of the theme seems faster because of the cellos, but otherwise it's the same speed as the original Delia Derbyshire arrangement of the 60s.

  • Oh, I can assure you it isn't. The David Arnold version - this version - is slower and is the slowest so far. The TV Movie version was also a bit slow; and even the Dominic Glynn & Keff McCulloch versions of the late 80s were a bit slower, and the Peter Howell version of the early 80s was actually at normal tempo, it only seems faster as the pitch has been raised by two whole tones. The fastest if there is one are the new series Murray gold versions.

  • And that's not because it was at a faster tempo, but because compared to the original, the Murray Gold ones were always done to a precise tempo, and edited in time; whereas the original was physically cut/constructed/edited by hand so although at the same tempo, is always slightly off-beat as it could never be precise.

    (Long breath)

I should really stop being quite so geeky one of these days, lol?

  • Well I guess the current version of the theme, with the fast cellos, suits the action emphasis of the series. Personally, though, I think the series should be spooky and thrilling, as it was at the very beginning, and the mood of the series should shift more in that direction too.

  • I don't think I put what I was saying very well at all... I love the original Doctor Who theme tune and I think it really adds to the feeling that the early episodes have, but I think that they probably wouldn't put a version like it on the new series because, as you say, they are trying to reinforce the action side of things.

But who knows, Stephan Moffet seems to lean towards a slightly darker feel.

  • sweet.

  • This is pretty good, i wish they had this theme for 2008 =( 10 out of 10 !!!

  • Great effort! Just a bit too much going on. :D

  • Enjoyable

  • Nice effort with the visuals... but...

Sorry (and this is not the Phil94B's fault) - I HATE that version of the theme tune. It sounded bloody awful on the radio and it's just as bad on here - It sounds like someone twanging an elastic band. Agghh!

  • This is really well done! They should have used this for the TV movie

  • it kinda makes me sad that this regeneration only got 1 show, then it stopped being on the air until christopher eccleston

  • really good!

  • kl vid but i never like this music...too gloomy..

  • its impressive how you got tom bakers star sequence to go into Mcgannes head... i liked it :)

  • Go to the alternitive theme and see that supaxena said the same thing 1 month ago!

  • Nice editing of the previous title sequences into that one!

  • i really like the music. is there any way i could get a good copy of the full recording your brother made?

  • I thought that was really good.

  • love the watch

  • that is superbly done

    nice one ^_^

  • Very nice.

  • paul mcguan looks scary

  • M8 its spelt Mcgann

  • sorry "Paul Mcgann looks scary in this video"

  • For anyone who's interested, I'm the brother of phil 94B who created this sequence. To prove I'm not just trying to get attention, I will upload a different version of the same sequence shortly using different music.

  • this is sooo good! i love the inverted logo and they way you use tom bakers head outline for paul mcganns , never noticed the allikeness... lol , keep up the good work

  • wicked remix I'm making a series in august so keep an eye open

  • Great titles, shame Paul McGann's Doctor never really got a proper title sequence and ended up with a Cinematic style opening

  • Excellent! =^.^=/\/

  • BRILL!!!

  • That was excellent. Why aren't you working for the BBC!

  • excelent! iv been wanting to do this for ages but iv not managed to get mcganns titles to merge with the starfeilds!

but this is brilliant! way better than what i could do

  • Cool! Please check out some of my 'Doctor Who' videos. :-)

And, let me guess - this was made in Pinnacle Studio? :-?

  • Afraid not it was made in Magix Movie Edit Pro 11 Plus which is the latest edition of Magix software at the mo as far as I'm aware.

  • Okay. It's just that some the effects look very similar. :-)

  • Very Good.

  • Thanks. All credit to my bro he is more of a wiz with movie editing stuff then me.

However I'm still improving as my other vids show.

I hope to put a one stop lego who film on here soon if I finish it.

  • Neat.

    Dr. S.
