  • I dont like this version as much as the upbeat version, but its pretty cool. I didnt dislike it beacuse its ignorant to dislike good music. *liked*

  • I would like to ask Rob Thomas to play this with the Dixie Chicks as a duet.

  • Love this!!!!

  • i really want to see them in person..i love this band so much!

  • Music is the fountain of love on which I feed on

  • Really hits HOME..

  • A dislike?? I'm going to find you and cut you.

  • Thank god for Palladia. They have awesome live music.

  • what's the name of this concert? is there a dvd or something of it?

  • @leonardopessoa greatest band ever when it comes to live performances

  • This song is about his mother dying of cancer. Which gives it a lot more meaning, "It's all going to end and it might as well be my fault." Means that she might as well vicariously die with every one thinking it's her fault so she can die with their burdens and relieve them of any guilt.

Think about that because most people hear the wrong song like one about a girlfriend he had.

  • @PhysiPhile bacana demais nao sabia entender a musica desta maneira obrigado amigo abratz

  • @PhysiPhile: thanks for your explanation, now the words make so much more sense..

  • @PhysiPhile

this song means whatever i want it to mean.

maybe you should think about that.

  • @nonSteel Of course? Music like all art is interpretive. Just giving his point of view. I couldn't care less if you want to interpret it a different way...

  • @PhysiPhile his mom never did die of cancer btw

  • @PhysiPhile She is alive and well, although she did have cancer when he was 12 or 13. He talks about it in a different video.

  • @samocop121 She actually passed away a few years back...

  • @PhysiPhile I had no idea. Thanks for sharing.

  • @PhysiPhile You are so right about the meaning of the song the only thing is Rob Thomas's mom Beat the cancer. She was givin six months to live and she beat it.

  • @PhysiPhile his mum did not DIE of cancer though, she;s fine now.. But yes, you are right. it's a song about difficult times.

Mb20 - my hard times music. Always gets me through.. Thank you, guys for creating a shelter for sorrow.

  • @NeringaVis Yeah, I used the word dying - not died - for that specific reason. However, I keep getting messages telling me she didn't die and I am mistaken...arg...

  • @PhysiPhile His mother never died of cancer, it was about him being confused as a child during the time she was sick.

  • @bdill9892 I know i know...I never said she died. PEOPLE: stop saying I said that I've received over 20 messages from people telling me she didn't die. I said "dying" not died. No more posting on music videos for me cause I guess people must feel the need to reply to EVERYTHING including a stupid little comment on youtube

  • @PhysiPhile He said in a different video that his mom survived the cancer, but he wrote it while she was going through it. Did she end up getting cancer again?

  • @PhysiPhile i don't think she died actually, it was about his mother having cancer when he was quite young, and he doesn't quite understand whats happening.

  • @PhysiPhile He said he was 12 when his Mom had cancer, but she was okay now.... check out the piano solo version..... he said it could about whatever you want

  • @PhysiPhile You have no idea what you are talking about. He even said in the piano version, that this song is universal and can be used for whatever you want.

How can you judge people for having their own interpretation of a song?

  • @Schmoher Judge? WTF are you talking about? I am a musician and totally agree that personal interpretations of art are much more powerful/meaningful than the original. I just thought it was a cool factoid. Youtube is getting f-ing ridiculous. I've received more messages about that little 10 second post than anything else.

  • With that haircut, doesn't Rob kind of look like a young Gerard Butler?

  • @MrSean24601 fuck in the beggining i think its actuallly gerard singing.

  • I freakin love Matchbox 20 and have since 96. Oh so Sexy ;p

  • Rob Thomas is a very talented man I enjoy his music so much he is one of my top 5 artist

  • He is playing the harp backwards!

  • Where is this from?

  • I am in LOVE with this version!!! Never seen it, thanks!

  • wow this version is fxxxing goooooood!

  • hes a great singer because he has a great/unique voice.. hes had great songs with the band and on his own and in collaborations. what more do u want him to do?just coz he isnt mainstream doesnt make him great.

  • what show is this from?

  • Comment removed

  • I think most lead singers aren't great singers when looked at from a point of vocal ability; however, look at Rod Stewart, Don Henley, and Tom Petty as examples. These guys are great because of how unique they sound and because they all have songwriting abilities. Just my view of how these guys are. Great performance.

  • Great version. Rob Thomas isn't a great singer...but he is a great writer.

  • @riffism I beg to differ that he isnt a good singer... Very Unique as was Dylan, Niel Young and Tom Petty. Not the NORM for great voice but Excellent!

  • @inatizzy2...I didn't say "not good"...I said "not great". There's a difference, in my opinion. As far as vocalists go, he has a fairly limited range and he's not "technically" all that difficult to emulate. He is, however, a good singer and an even better writer. What he does very well is know his "sound" and his audience. I'm a huge fan of his...but mostly for his writing style. He has a pop sensibility that is rare in current writers.

  • @riffism how is he not a great singer?

  • @rockers357...ok, I'll play the game. You tell me how he IS a "great" singer. Is he a singer who could stand completely on his vocal ability...even if he WASN'T such a great songwriter? I know I don't find anything truly "special" about his singing. He's a great writer and entertainer...and that's plenty enough for me to be a fan...but I don't consider his vocal ability to be his strength. If everyone else around here does...well hey, that's y'all's opinion and I'm fine with that.

  • wow i love this version!

  • putting this on my ipod, it's my new song i'll fall asleep too.

that was somehow a compliment, not an insult :P

  • amazingly awesome

  • I never ever like remakes to songs but this version I am OBSESSED with!! I think it's their best song! Thanks for posting I've been searching for a while!

  • I'm with you trigger.......have no idea what presbarkeep is "lol-ing" about

  • lol .....rob thomas....

  • Rob Thomas and Matchbox Twenty is truly music at its best. Artist on a unreachable level. Best thing is I seen them Live and they sound better than the any Cd.
