Its true that Soviet Union created a comfortable opportunity for other allied forces to join the war when it created a very strong and unbreakable frontline that expanded over thousands and thousands of kilometres thus decreasing the nazi's warmachine into a much thinner line of defence. Allied forces in return created a second frontline to the west allowing the Soviets to relieve their forces and push further west. A very good strategy that only required time to gain absolute victory.
