Automatic Minecart Launcher using Fence Gates

Rain seems to cause a block update which activates the detector rail. Still awesome, but unfortunate for any outdoor stations.

Did they change how detector rails work in this last patch? Why doesn't the empty cart open the gate?

@Mopardude When the detector rail is on a slope, it will not power unless someone is on it. It's been in the game since detector rails have been added but not many people us this because it's a bug(?) and could be fixed in a later patch.

Does the minecart have to have maximum speed, like with similar mechanisms that involve sloped detector rails?

@OululainenIhiminen Yes, because a detector rail doesn't act as a powered rail, if one sat in the cart on a straight rail the gate woul open, but you wouldn't move :)

@spirit940 spirit, its a proof of concept video. You would stop it like you would stop any other track. He just connected the track to itself because he was simply showcasing the concept

As soon as I saw that fence gates could use redstone now I knew this idea would pop up. I didn't mess around with them at all but I knew some cool cart launchers would be made and this is by far the easiest way to use it. Good stuff, I'll definitely use this once I can play 1.1, (i play industrial craft and buildcraft etc so I have to wait until they update)

Or if u have button, and change the detecor-rail to normal rail, you could have it as a start and stop thing
