Agreed, but it got so much better when they announced DW7. New Characters, New weapons, New gameplay, ability to equip 2 weapons, Gaiden stages, more animal support, seamless play and so much more.

@dispinoylovzyou Lu Bu was one of the greatest feared warriors of his time. He killed many people and was alongside Dong Zhuo in his rebellion. Alsothe Romance of the 3 Kingdoms (I think? ) Diao Chan played him to kill Dong Zhuo. He was, like all the other male characters, a strong warrior. Zhen Ji was just one of Cao Pi's many consorts, Sun Shang Xiang never fought, she married Liu Bei and commited suicide when he died. Diao Chan's fictional. The only one who plays an actual role is Yue Ying.

@dispinoylovzyou They should have an option in the game that allows you to choose a character that was there at the beginning, right until the end, and follow the exact battles, with the true outcome of the war. Playing this series, it's always seemed (to me anyway) that they make Shu out to be good, Wei out to be bad, and Wu just kind of there. I mean, Shu was doing so well until the 3 brothers died, then Shu just collapsed... I would have never known if I didn't follow the history after.

@dispinoylovzyou You think so? I never liked Wei because of the way they portrayed Cao Cao. He was pretty cocky and he was always disrespectful around the Emperor. He was lucky to have lived in a few instances. Cao Cao played a huge role in history, but I wish Liu Bei's son had followed in his footsteps. Instead the guy was lazy, and just didn't care... he handed Shu over. I can't believe they added him as a character in this new one. He never even fought one battle.

@dispinoylovzyou I believe they weren't sure whether to execute him or keep him, but after pleading for his life, Cao Cao asked Liu Bei what he would do with him, and Liu Bei responded that he was a traitor before and he would not change, so they executed him. Lu Bu played a pretty big part. Get rid of him, you might as well get rid of Dong Zhuo, Diao Chan, Red Hare, The Yellow Turban Rebellion (which happened before him) so that means get rid of Yuan Zhao, and Zhang Jiao.
Sangoku Musou was Dynasty Warriors 1, it was a 2d fighting action game, kind of like tekken or street fighter. KOEI decided to make Sangoku Musou 2 a 3d hack and slash game and so because it differed from the previous game significantly they decided to rename the series and start from scratch. So they called it Shin Sangoku Musou, the UK/USA series kept the Dynasty Warriors title and called it Dynasty Warriors 2.
I cant wait for this game to come out & im glad that some the warriors they took out are back XD!........im looking forward to playing with every DW Fan online Dynasty Warriors Forever!!!! =D.

I really hope they don't start bringing in more weapons like that.. next thing there's a freaking tank on the field.. way to keep the history there.... that's what made me like the Dynasty series so much, it was based on real events in the past.
@CorruptedLeo I was always worried about that since KOEI had the Gundam series. Personally I've never cared for it, and if it's doing well, it should stay separate. Dynasty Warriors, believe it or not, has taught me so much history about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I ended up finding the mini series because of it to learn what really happened in that era. To have guns, not even beam rifles, equipped on heroes from 100-200AD, is just wrong IMO.

Lu Bu is in but they just aint showing yet that is all people calm down. I hope these characters are also playable characters.All Under Wei. Zang Ba, Li Dian, Yu Jin, Yue Jin. All Under Shu. Liao Hua -> Yeah why did they never made this guy one??? Guan Xing, Zhang Bao, Wang Ping. All Under Wu. Lu Kang -> If Ding Feng is one and Lu Kang is not WTF!!! Cheng Pu, Han Dang, Zhu Ran. For the Other, Gao Shun for Lu Bu. If possible then you get Gao Shun and Zang Ba to join in Lu Bu's army.
This game looks so sick. The only thing i'm worried about is any weapon - any character system. I'm scared it might take the individuality away from the characters, i mean if any character can have bladed rings then sun shang xiang isn't sun shang xiang know what I mean?
@remyrumyeh yeah but at least the AI will run around with their signature weapons, as long as you play with a friend on local or single player, it should be fine right?
@remyrumyeh KOEI are basically giving everyone the freedom to decide characters movesets the characters are only clones if people choose to make them that way.
I personally won't ever change the characters first weapons just the second ones as i prefer to keep it like the way they had it in Strikeforce.
Just so you know if someone else has Sun Shang Xiang's chakrams the Musou attack itself will be different everytime.
@remyrumyeh Like sjfaith said, clones or not, the choice is yours. People still have individual quirks anyway, like EX attacks, musou attacks, and their own personal expertise levels with weapons, which can give different effects, good or bad, depending. For instance, Xiahou Dun loves his scimitar, so his bonus while using it seems to be extra elemental effects, considering the fire and ice. But say he's not comfortable with using fans. The QIaos love them, but they may give Dun a bad effect.
Hate to be disappointing, but Musou Modes are kingdom (not character) based, and there's no Other story mode. Each kingdom character will have at least one stage that they are playable on, and each stage will have set characters. Like Chang Ban, in the first part you HAVE to play as Zhao Yun, then you HAVE to play as Zhang Fei. However, there will be Conquest (Chronicle in JP) Mode which is like a "create your own destiny" mode. The game will still be awesome, though.
There are a LOT of characters that haven't been confirmed yet, but only because Koei is keeping everyone in the dark and has not officially revealed them yet. Even very important people like Zhuge Liang, Zhang He, and Sun Jian remain to be seen. But more people are going to be revealed on Tuesday.
I desire a challenge..I never block in these games, or most games for that matter..i am a very serious player..give me a reason to block..lols..And I rarely play games on normal, always hard from the start...I would very much prefer agressive A.I...
@Krow83 Actually, the first "Dynasty Warriors" is in Japan, it's just not in the same series. Dynasty Warriors 1: Sangokumuso in Japan. Dynasty Warriors 2: Shin Sangokumuso 1.
@Kobracondor I agree with every word in this comment. ESPECIALLY dual audio. If they don't implement Japanese voice acting in the NA release, at least make the English dub good enough. They did well in the sixth game.

@LetumLupus03 goodluck with that, even if dw 6 was more apparent with cloned chains, going back to the old style of combat does very little, warriors orochi prooved that, with so many friggan people to choose from, some were bound to have some of the same attack chains no matter what, after all there is only so much movement you can put that fits in a smooth flow style. and since the game mostly contained swords and spears with the occasional fantasy weapon .... yeah.

Cao Cao was loved by the people of "Wei"(Han, really. Cao Pi made it Wei after Cao Cai died), and feared by the more privileged.

@CorruptedLeo I was always worried about that since KOEI had the Gundam series. Personally I've never cared for it, and if it's doing well, it should stay separate. Dynasty Warriors, believe it or not, has taught me so much history about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I ended up finding the mini series because of it to learn what really happened in that era. To have guns, not even beam rifles, equipped on heroes from 100-200AD, is just wrong IMO.

@HinataChan30 if you mean Sengoku Musou (Samurai Warriors) then yeah they have done sequels. Sengoku Musou 3 is coming out this year on the PS3

@TheTimbalanders Mm...no, I meant Sangoku Musou 2. It's why there's a numbering difference between Dynasty Warriors and Shin Sangoku Musou. Sangoku Musou was just a fighting game but was released here as Dynasty Warriors. Shin Sangoku Musou is our Dynasty Warriors 2.

Lu Bu is in but they just aint showing yet that is all people calm down. I hope these characters are also playable characters.All Under Wei. Zang Ba, Li Dian, Yu Jin, Yue Jin. All Under Shu. Liao Hua -> Yeah why did they never made this guy one??? Guan Xing, Zhang Bao, Wang Ping. All Under Wu. Lu Kang -> If Ding Feng is one and Lu Kang is not WTF!!! Cheng Pu, Han Dang, Zhu Ran. For the Other, Gao Shun for Lu Bu. If possible then you get Gao Shun and Zang Ba to join in Lu Bu's army.

This game looks so sick. The only thing i'm worried about is any weapon - any character system. I'm scared it might take the individuality away from the characters, i mean if any character can have bladed rings then sun shang xiang isn't sun shang xiang know what I mean?

@remyrumyeh KOEI are basically giving everyone the freedom to decide characters movesets the characters are only clones if people choose to make them that way.
I personally won't ever change the characters first weapons just the second ones as i prefer to keep it like the way they had it in Strikeforce.
Just so you know if someone else has Sun Shang Xiang's chakrams the Musou attack itself will be different everytime.

@remyrumyeh Like sjfaith said, clones or not, the choice is yours. People still have individual quirks anyway, like EX attacks, musou attacks, and their own personal expertise levels with weapons, which can give different effects, good or bad, depending. For instance, Xiahou Dun loves his scimitar, so his bonus while using it seems to be extra elemental effects, considering the fire and ice. But say he's not comfortable with using fans. The QIaos love them, but they may give Dun a bad effect.

Hate to be disappointing, but Musou Modes are kingdom (not character) based, and there's no Other story mode. Each kingdom character will have at least one stage that they are playable on, and each stage will have set characters. Like Chang Ban, in the first part you HAVE to play as Zhao Yun, then you HAVE to play as Zhang Fei. However, there will be Conquest (Chronicle in JP) Mode which is like a "create your own destiny" mode. The game will still be awesome, though.

There are a LOT of characters that haven't been confirmed yet, but only because Koei is keeping everyone in the dark and has not officially revealed them yet. Even very important people like Zhuge Liang, Zhang He, and Sun Jian remain to be seen. But more people are going to be revealed on Tuesday.

@Krow83 Actually, the first "Dynasty Warriors" is in Japan, it's just not in the same series. Dynasty Warriors 1: Sangokumuso in Japan. Dynasty Warriors 2: Shin Sangokumuso 1.

@LetumLupus03 goodluck with that, even if dw 6 was more apparent with cloned chains, going back to the old style of combat does very little, warriors orochi prooved that, with so many friggan people to choose from, some were bound to have some of the same attack chains no matter what, after all there is only so much movement you can put that fits in a smooth flow style. and since the game mostly contained swords and spears with the occasional fantasy weapon .... yeah.
