Thanks for this video. It has been awhile since I watched this movie. Makes me think I want to see it again. Liked it the first 12 or 13 times I watched it, now I will rent it again to watch once more!
lol - it just occurs to me that i have the dvd of this film and i haven't watched it in years. my first impression was that it wasn't deserving another viewing - but in hind sight and after your video - i think i am mistaken and will have to revisit it. for some reason alex projects a strong john travolta "saturday night fever" vibe but with a gay story line. thanks for the heads up on head on love and for reawakening my interest. xo
@doughboy1547 Reading most of the comments, it seems that I'm the only one who enjoyed this film (LOL) Thankfully, there's IMDB and the reviews to confirm that is not the case. Is a harsh, unpleasant film, contradictory and poignant, on some places remembers me a lot the works of the great Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Not that I'm comparing Ana Kokkinos to the german master though. She wish! Totally agree about Ari Manero love, you're so insightful! Love ya xoxox

@alwaysuseless I just realized the mistake I made was in reading the description before watching the video. (I usually go directly to watching the video in 720p, then read the description & rewatch.)
I would have enjoyed some of the earlier parts of the video, if I hadn't had so much concern for where it might be headed.

@JJTheTrue For me Brando's characters are sexy until they become violent, and then they're no longer sexy. So I disagree with your examples. I don't claim to be in the majority on this subject, and even if I am, you're entitled to your opinion.
@alwaysuseless From my perspective, you're confusing fiction with reality. As a viewer, I'm attracted to a lot of troubled, conflicted or even bad characters. From Ari to River Phoenix in My own private Idaho. That doesn't means that I like violence, drugs or be beated by a guy. All opinions are respectable, yours and mine. But in my case, I'm interested on a more wider range of characters than you seem to. Fiction can't be lovey dovey and romanticism all the time, we would be bored to death x
@JJTheTrue You describe your feelings well & how you connect differently to fiction vs. reality. However, you misjudge & mis-characterize my feelings & corresponding connections. I relate to fiction & reality differently also. That my difference is different from yours doesn't mean that I confuse reality & fiction. I'm probably drawn (not just sexually) to as wide a range of characters. I enjoy harmony but not w/o obstacles & certainly not exclusively. Try to resist characterizing me.

Thanks for the upload JJ. I like harsh films like this. It intrigues me watching characters try to understand and accept their sexuality. I like the drama that unfolds, the self-consciousness they feel in their own environment and the hatred they feel for being in such circumstances and then maybe, just maybe, they find it in themselves to just accept who they are and just live. I wonder what other movies are out there like this that doesn't sugarcoat being different. Guy's cute though..19? ha!
@dannysimion I normally prefer romantic stories myself, but I also like some harsh films with complex characters too. And "Head on" is definitely one of them. The scene on which Ari punchs his lover and lay down quite expecting to be beated (or punished) by him tells everything about this great story. Well, 19 is how the character is described, course that Dimitriades was older than that.

You made this old film appear alot better than it is. Again your music choice is superb, both for the charcter and the images of coice. Way to good for this movie, quite frankly, which struggles to get a grip on what it is. A story of depravity and abuse, an insight into the large Aussie-Greek population a comming out story or a story about drug abuse. This one fails on all levels - which is a pity, cause the actor delivers to full in a story to complex for it`s own good. And remebered for a JO.

I agree about how contradictory and random is the storytelling, but imo it's just the reflection of the psyche of Ari, trapped in his own idea of how a "man" must be, mixed with the traditional greek upbringing he has received. In his uncapability of take or give love and tenderness is where resides the real interest of the story. The drug use is just an excuse to face his own demons....
@Dolphininseaable It's not an easy film to watch, very unpleasant on many scenes but definitely a wild ride into the problematic some greek inmigrants on Australia. On the other hand, Alex Dimitriades is not only looking gorgeous, he gives a "tour de force" performance. And the rest of the cast are quite good too. The film was very well received on a lot of gay film festivals, including here on Barcelona.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your comments and after all... you're the expert here :-))
