oh, for Christ's sake...can't someone make a comment here without people getting so angry? barmtrail was guilty as charged and a perverted little boy and now feels it necessary to tell me to get a grip...I, on the other hand, was an innocent minded little boy who had one of these things and only thought of it as a dream from back in the day, and have just realized it really exists...Therefore, Barmtrail was a NASTY KID. I didn't mean to make it personal, until he told ME to get a grip...oops!
I had one, too! In fact, I actually thought it was some kind of childhod lost memory or something! I KNEW this thing existed! I KNEW it did!!!! THANK YOU for posting THIS Ad! I almost want to CRY!!!!
@barmtrail oh, get over yourself....whatever.....people like you that want to poison some of the real child-hood memories need to be taken out and shot.
I always wondered how these things really worked, because the loop seemed to be a lot longer than the commercials showed. I tried rtecording full songs on these thing and a substantial portion played back, It came with two loops - maybe 30 seconds and fifteen if not longer, but it sure wasn't as quick as you see here.
@wdharvey1 I didn't realize it was a complaint so much as a call for someone who understood why it worked the way it did. I'd have asked thirty five years ago if I'd had the Internet to do it. This ain't digital, and making these things happen in analog took a lot of imagination and work. (The fact that the shorter loop jammed the first time I used it - now THAT was something to complain about, but as you point out it doesn't do any good to bring it up now.)
I never owned a Close N'Play, but I had one of these. Damn near useless as a tape deck, but it made a great toy. Of course, the same could be said of most of the 8 track players they were selling in those days.
I cant remember the machine where you use a pencil hooked to a wire, and you would rub the pencil on a paper which you marked, and it would play a sound. you could make music with it. blimey that was ahead of its time. This thing I remember having too. thanks for posting
@yogertlvr I remember exactly what you are talking about. I had one, but I think the wire snapped off the pencil. Cannot remember what it was called, but it was one of those Kenner electronic toys.
@galaxies352 I'm so sorry about that....I really am...that is a vintage toy I would never want to part with....I had one as a kid and don't know what happened to it...I had to be less than 5 years old..I'm 45 now...
Yea! Say It Play It! I thought I was the only one on Earth who remembered this toy. I have great memories of it back around kindergarten time. Thanks for the post.
@bobneil1963 I thought MY memory was a DREAM, a figment of my imagination! Most people remember the close 'n play, but people don't really remember this toy! I LOVED mine!!!
I had one of these. Used it for several years. Had, I think, three cassettes and used them over and over with never a jam. It was a great little toy.

@wdharvey1 Like recording tape. Have you ever worked with recording tape? It has a very specific metallic smell.
