  • NO tank addition or tankmates!!! Over 40 years captive??? Since she was 6??? I agree the waters off Puget Sound may be depleted of salmon sources.:((( I would prefer to risk her life with a release....FREE Lolita!!!

  • smart kid!

  • i wish she could die ._.

i know it's not good to say something similar but i can't, i can't say anything else.

    sorry

  • they would say all that stuff to cover their own backs. of corse she is not healthy, a wild orca is a healthy orca

  • That kid is genius.

  • i can't even watch this...... it makes me so mad what is happening to lolita

  • haha sneaky footage, would they have let you film this if she had known?

  • Hey atleast she was honest in stating that there will be no tank addition or tankmates, she probably tires of the same questions asked over and over. No one seems to view any risks in releasing her after 40+ years in captivity, such as the high levels of PCBs and other toxins in her homewaters off Puget Sound, as well as the depleated salmon sources. New Tank Yes, but I prefer not to risk her life with a release....and im preparing for hate mail and negative comments as usual..

  • @flargmuffin92 no hate comment here I defenitly see your point I would be soooooooooooooooooooo happy if they would release here but a bigger tank or moveing her to like Sea World you know bigger tank some other killer whales to interact with that would definitly be a good start

  • she's a bitch geting snotty with the little girl that fucking bitch lets put her in a little tank and that they wont build her a bigger tank because she is happy bull shit they will build an expansion to the swim with dolphins exibit bitches

  • ya thats true keiko did just fine when the moved him to a bigger thank he ened up more happy and was putting weight on and was fine so why cant they build a bigger tank for lolita its because there to fucking cheap and they reather keep her in a puddle wher she is so unhappy and i wathed a video or read somewhere that they had another whale with her at one point but ihe went crazy and kept slapping his head on the side and killed himself cuz it was just to small make a bigger tank happy whale

  • id ask her why shes being bitchy, and to stop making stories about how "oh, shes to old to move"

please!! it would save her life not kill her you bitchy trainer!

  • Sheesh, that little kid sounded like he/she knew more than the trainer...

  • i heard lolita crying in the bg. shes probably saying:

"get me out of this little pool!"

  • All people involved with this should be confined for the rest of their lives in a tank this size. As a matter of fact it should be at least half this size since compared to the earth the opceans are so large. See how the people like it.

  • The seaquarium says "oh but we love her and we take care of her" BS She is alone 20+ hrs a day behind metal gates, you can't even see her unless in a show. Makes me sick.....

    Orcanetwork dot org

  • that just generally sums up the seaquariums attitude to lolita, listen to the trainer "its not worth it" in other words theres no point building her another tank cos shes probably gonna die soon anyway, so we wont get any profit out of making her a bigger tank. And they claim that they care about her welfare, thats sickening. But hey its miami seaquarum what do people expect, to them money is much more important than the intelligent sentient living creatures that they've imprisonned.

  • fucking 35 years in a cage

  • hear what she say's stuped bitch another POOL, a POOL most people have A POOL in there back Yards

  • okay kieko adapted to a bigger tank in orgeon but she wont

  • Oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!! She could adapt very quickly to another pool!

  • poor lolita they should have more orcs for her they need to do that for her sake.

and get her a bigger tank.

    its not fair on her

  • Poor Lolita

  • Obviously this trainer's ego is something else. Lolita is a beautiful creaure who needs to socialize with other orcas. She may be patient with what is going on, but im sure one day she will snap.that is when they will learn.

  • "she has her other dolphin friends." That's like saying that it's okay to put an innocent human in a cage with monkey's because then he would have his other monkey friends. Lolita and the dolphins do not speak the same language, they are in fact way too different to be 'friends'.

  • excellent comparison.

  • that just kills me

  • its like that trainer owns her she doesnt and y wont she get another friend well i see cuz its not fair if they capture them anymore and they hv stopped thank goodness

  • I doubt she is happy in that little fishbowl. Its a miracle that she is so old.

And its b-shit that she wont survive in a new tank. B-shit!

She need to be free from the prison named MSG. And moved to bigger tank with other orcas, or even better a sea pen close to her family!

  • Sad, very sad how animals are made out to be clowns. Let them be free. The days of this sort of behaviour have gone. Treat animals with respect

  • Dolphin freinds my ass did you here her crying in the background.

  • God that trainer was such a grating bitch. I wish lolita would have snatched her up and ripped her fucking head off

  • Its not worth it??

    that really pisses me off!

I would be ashamed too Bjossa

  • Not to mock anyone...but I would be ashamed to work at the Miami Sea Aquarium because of so much critism

  • She is not just a "plaything."

If you knew her trainers and the people who care for her, you would know this.

That whale is treated better and gets better care than most people.

  • As the trainer said, she is in the tank with her dolphine friends. Thats like us being put in a confinement cell for 35 years with a couple of chimps. We treat her as a plaything, she needs to be in the ocean. When does Lolita get a life! When men stop paying to see her perform silly tricks in a tiny teacup.

  • You guys arnt recognizing the facts. She is TOO OLD to relearn how to survive. The pollution in the ocean would kill her, if she didnt starve to death first. She IS NOT trained to be moved and would suffer TERRIBLE amounts of unnecessary stress if she was moved.

Research and learn facts before you all jump to conclusions based on your own emotions.

You're willing to gamble her life just because you feel sorry for her?

I'm sorry. I wont be a part of that.

  • Lolita still has a family out in the bay, if she had a sea pen she could at least talk to them. She has no other Orca to talk to, she just exists for our pleasure not hers. Sure it may be hard for her to catch food at first, but she would have a lot of loving humans helping her.And her family would be able to see her and talk to her.

  • people have researched WDCS and other NON PROFIT organisations that only have the Orcas best interests in mind and are experts in researching these animals say that moving her would work what you are parroting are the words of Mr. Hertz and his faithful employees you know the people who make their living out of her staying in that tank and would say anything to keep her there who would you rather believe volunteer conservationists and expert scientists or greedy money hungry marine park staff

  • iur right she couldnt survive in th ocean shel have to learn how to hunt, swim for miles, fight explore she couldnt last.

why doent she even have a bigger tank or other orcas to socialize with but the thing is why do ppl take animals from there habitat and have them work is captivity?

i dont no if shes being treated badly or wat but she was born free and shud live free

  • That's right! Orcas are highly social animals. And keeping them alone like that is the worst thing to do if ppl want them to stay healthy!

Isolating an orca like Lolita is just wrong!

Orcas are meant to live in the wild! That's the way God created them. And trying to domesticate them will never be successful! They need bigger tanks! ppl just care too much about themselves to worry about the other living things in the world!

    :(

  • She still recognises her family, she can be freed! All this bull crap talk of "oh she's too old" or "she loves seaquarium" it total shit! Only one orca EVER was released, and that's Keiko. You can't accurately compare the two situations, therefore you cannot know what will happen. Lolita will not DIE if she's released!

  • Either that woman was paid to lie to all of them people or she is just another bicth who thinks only of the money!!!!!!!

  • She is not fine at all! she can berly turn around in my eyes. Wont set her free then give her bigger space and an other orca not dolphins...orcas hunt them in the wild!

Cant afford to give hr bigger tank and take care for her the best way...Sell her to one that can!

Cant afford an animal dont buy it or dont keep it!

  • You guys think its just so simple. You cannot just move her...or dump other orcas into another tank with her.

Toki is the dominant animal in her pool. She's used to it. Moving her would stress her, maybe even to the point of killing her. I'm all for them building her a larger tank, but I dont know if that is going to happen. Hopefully, they can use the money they're making with the new dolphin harbor to start construction.

  • i totally agree with you!

  • PixieStew: You ''cant dump other orcas into her tank with her?'' Gee, thats funny. What about Hugo the Orca who used to be her tank mate? Oh wait, thats right, he killed himself because park life sucks. I bet they just wanted the public to forget about him right?? And how does the Seaquarium explain applying for a permit to re-capture Keiko after his release; which the Iceland authority THANKFULLY turned down! Which tank did they plan to ''dump him into?'' Admit it. Miami Seaquarium sucks.

  • I will admit nothing of the sort. I worked there . I KNOW how the animals are treated from FIRST HAND experience. I do not base my knowledge on something I read or over emotional anthropomorphism.

  • Anthropomorphism? Yet MiamiseaQuarium does that all the time - they claim Lolita is happy. Soo.. they can but we can't?

  • Saying an animal is "happy" isn't the same as saying "that animal is feeling miserable and wants to go into the wild" when clearly it isn't the case. Just because someone feels sorry for Toki doesn't mean she's at their expectations and also feeling sorry.

  • Also, I doubt they would ever send Lolita to Seaworld. Lolita is probably the only thing keeping that park going money wise. Getting rid of her would make things even worse for the rest of the animals.

  • yeah, but if she were to be put in a bigger tank with some other orcas, theyd be earning AT LEAST ten times the amount of money!!! which also means...all the other animals get treated like living beings than toys!!! you just made me realize that...=)

  • People who think that Lolita should be freed think its as easy as 1 2 3. When its not..You need money and someplace to store the whale AND you need to make sure that the whale wont die while you building the tank. LEAVE LOLITA ALONE. SHES FINE!

  • true...true...but didnt they just build lyk a million dollar dolphin swim program at the msq? im not anti but i just cant help but feeling sorry for her. you can just tell how depressed and bored she is all the time...=(

  • Kelseygurl11: It IS EASY. Call the Free Willy/ Keiko Foundation and have UPS ship her to the Oregon Coast Aquarium like they did with Keiko. And dont lie to the public. You ''need money and some place to store'' her? THE SEAQUARIUM WAS OFFERED A MILLION BUCKS BY A DONOR TO MOVE HER TO A PARK WHERE THE TRAINERS ARNT A BUNCH OF STUCK UP SNOTS WHO ARE NASTY TO EACHOTHER AND TREAT THEIR ANIMALS LIKE THEY ACTUALLY HAVE A LIFE. AMAZINGLY, THIS DONOR WAS TURNED DOWN.

  • that tank is now being used for something else. i think there's sharks or something in it. but they should move her to somewhere with other orcas! not just build her a bigger tank, she'll still be bored! the only animal she has is Lii (the dolphin). i don't think she should be set free because she's most likely forgetten how to be a wild orca! she was probably just learning how to hunt when she was taken!

  • True, but the conundrum here is that they would need a FUCK LOAD of money to even construct a much larger brand new state of the art tank for Lolita.

Everybody hates the Seaquarium for being so out of date but ironically they need our money to fix anything, that's the sad part. =\

  • i think after 20-some years of planning to build a new tank, they would have gotten the money. if they cant afford a new tank, then why cant they sell lolita to someplace like seaworld or marineland? theyd get a whole bunch of money from that so they can rennovate the park for the rest of the animals. im just wondering...

  • What an idiot. Acclimation is the temperature adjustment all marine life make when transferring into a new body of water.

I'm sure it might take a couple of hours to acclimate Lolita into a new tank but wouldn't it overall be for the best?

  • EXACTLY!!! "the acclimation of taking her out of her jail cell and giving her a little freedom with some company...it just wouldnt be worth it!" thats exactly like what she just said!

  • omg did i seriously hear her say "were not having another killer whale. she can interact with either me or her other dolphin friends" i hope ppl ask questions like "cant you build a bigger pool" each day. that will put pressure on the owners.

  • (1996) Plans are under way to build Lolita a larger tank.

(2003) Plans are on the way to build her a new tank.

They've been lying since 1978 about getting her a bigger pool, they finally decided to stop lying? I'm suprised. I just find it hard to imagine when Hugo was still alive && there were 2 Orca's living in that poor excuse for pool, RIP Hugo x

  • What a b***h! I cant belive she said that!

"no, were aren't making her another pool?!!!!!"

"no were aren't having another killer whale, she has her other DOLPHIN friends!!!!!?????"

I hate her so bad! Why cant they give her a bigger pool? She isn't anywhere near healthy or happy! Sorry but I am really mad!!!

  • i know! it WOULD be worth it to move lolita!!!! OH MY GOD!!! HOW WOULD SHE FEEL IF SOMEONE SAID THAT ABOUT HER WHEN SHE WAS IN A TINY PLACE???

  • Exactly! Thanks for understanding what I said! Good to now! :-)

  • yeah. shes not supposed to have dolphin "friends". orcas eat dolphins in the wild, so theyre not exactly friends.thats like being friends with spagetti, youre supposed to eat it. and they dont speak the same language.

  • Yep! Well I guess it would be like this...

Ur in your house, these monsters come and put you in a box. You can only fit one other of youreslf in that box. Then they put several rabits or maybe a few cats in the box too! Yah, thats how it would be. I feel bad for those dolphins as well. Half of them die before they reach 5 years!

  • i know! or it would be like aliens come to an innocent school and kill half the students, kidnap one, and do something just like you said.

  • lasagna is better! i actually find myself having a nice conversation with the noodles...

    ♥jessica and abby♥

  • ha ha! lol!!! no, that would be like lolita lives with sea lions!!! LOL

  • HaHaHa! HeHeHe!

  • i bet ond day she will get her trainer and killd her i think i woud to

  • anyway SAY NO TO CAPTIVITY! THEY DESERVE TO HAVE THEIR OWN PLACE ON THE WORLD!!! HUMANS ALREADY HAVE PLENTY! (sorry 4 my grammar...hehe Im not great with my english)

  • say no to THIS captivity. send them to seaworld!!!

  • dolphins are the only wild animals that have proove they enjoy human company...(not making this up) but they also like to acctually swim, not float! (for that they usually need a lil room)...2 bad for such a beautiful thing to be treated so poorly... :(

and no, not all dolphins inflict injury in captivity...I guess only the ones who are in this kind of prisions....my opinion...

  • its only this place thats a prison. places like seaworld are good places.

  • OMG THERE U EFFEN HAVE IT!!

  • You can't stereotype trainers from this one video. She works for a park where nothing is given, there is no money to fix problems, and they're doing the best they can there. I'm sure she was just having a bad day.

  • She said it's not worth it! What's "room to move" worth to her then?

  • ps: that trainer sounded like a bitch

  • they are so fucked those trainers. Bullshitting their way around questions as per usual. thankyou for posting this ^^

  • I bet Lolita's trainer is paid to say that!

That she is fine and that she have been there for so many years. And that it have never been a problem...!

  • oh probably not

  • Fucking idiots. Treating a wild dolphin like a toy. What a mockery of nature making them live upto the stupid 'flipper' expectation. That is NOT what dolphins are like. Orcas, the most intelligent dolphins feel emotions. Fucking idiots. They make me so angry. Money hungry.

  • Lolita loves her trainers kids. She is NOT on antidepressants, and is very well stimulated. You all give in to your own emotions and completely ignore the facts. IF she were so badly depressed, she would have died YEARS ago. The fact is, this orca receives better care than most PEOPLE do. Being in this field, I encourage you all to really look and research your facts before basing your replies on emotions and outdated news.

  • So, you think it is ok that her family was rounded up, held in confinement till 6 members were hand-picked to be taken away simply to satisfy selfish people? Not to mention the fact that 5 other orcas died in the process but their bodies were cut up and sunk at sea. How can you justify it being ok to interfere with a species who's whole life revolves around their family and going in there and tearing the family apart? When the orcas were being taken away, the family remained in the bay.

  • Humans have no right to disrupt the life of wild animals. Seeing them in the wild is how it should be...not going in there, breaking up the society of such an intelligent animal and violating nature and making them do tricks simply for money.

Dolphins do self inflict injury in captivity. That speaks volumes. They are also aggressive and there have been countless attacks on humans. Putting them in that situation is disguisting.

  • Did I EVER say that capturing her was ok? NO. I didnt. Please do not put words in my mouth. I am AGAINST wild captures. She should never have been put in MSQ in the first place. Its the same with any captive animal. What I'm saying is, she's there. She has adapted to her surroundings. She will never be put back into the ocean or moved for several reasons. Appreciate and love her for where she is.

  • Guys! Email The Alliance Of Marine Mammals Parks and Aquariums about Lolita! They haven't accepted my emails but if enough people start showing concern then they will do something about it!

  • i wish lolita jumped up and nocked the lady over

  • push the woman in the water LOL

  • what a naive trainer... i wanted to do that when i was young.. but as i got older I realized how pathetic keeping killer whales captive is. I live on San Juan Island and I get to see them in their natural habitat all the time.. there is no greater feeling than watching them do what they want to do.. and not have to do something for food. Whenever I see L Pod, I get very sentimental and thin k of Tokitae (Lolita) in her tiny bath tub.

  • take lolita out of that goldfish bowl....and put her back in the ocean with her family people....she has given so much...lets give her something...help FREE lolita xxxx

  • thats terrible shes not healthy poor lolita

  • Her family is still out there she belongs in the L pod, she still speaks her family language. It is worth the effort to move her and find her family, how much more money does she have to earn the MSQ.

  • Orcas under contract? didnt know they could sign a piece of paper to agree to captivity

  • I don't like the sou d of her voice, you can kind of tell straight away that she is a skeanky bitch. It's people like her and Arthur Hertz (Lolita's owner) who should rot in hell. Lolita needs to be free or even transferred to a bigger pool! She's dying and none of these people are doing anything about it!

  • hate that trainers voice. sounds like she was reading from a script. Down with MSQ, SW and all that!

  • I agree with PixieStew that she is under contract, and from an industry point of view, it would likely be more kind to euthanize that whale than to put her through the stress to try and move it or even set it free. You have to look at the realistic side of things.

  • She deserves to be given a chance to be with her family again! If she can survive through the stress of being ripped from her family and being put into a tiny tank then she can survive being moved from that tiny tank and back into the ocean with her family again!

  • Remember that she was a much younger whale when they captured her. She has been hand fed and lived in captivity for longer than she ever lived in the wild - the stress of travel plus the new environment and trying to find a pod to fit into could be more than she can handle. I think that if they decide they no longer "need" her, the best fate she could possibly be dealt is humane euthanasia rather than cold and starving in an unfamiliar territory.

  • Orcas have amazingly long memories! Keiko was just a year old when he was captured and he remembered how to hunt. If she can't be with her family then they will keep her in a large sea pen. Lolita has proven that she can adapt very well by being taken from the ocean and being put into a tank alone. Orcas are smarter then what $ea world and other marine parks give them credit for! They deserve to be given a chance to be free again!!!

  • Keiko swam to a fjord where people continued to care for him while he was a "wild" whale until he died. Whales who have spent their whole life interacting with humans will not have the "street smarts" to know to stay away from them and can then run into trouble. I think you're giving her too MUCH credit. How is being in a "large sea pen" being FREE? They might as well just move her to a larger aquarium.

  • yeah! rock on you know what you're taling about!

  • she's not "under contract" she's a living, breathing, animal just like you and me. there is more stress in that stupid tank than in a 2hr flight.

  • She looks great my ass! Lolita is going to DIE if someone dosen't get her out of their. She's on anti-depresent's, how happy is that!?

  • She hasn't been on medication for depression for a LONG time now.

  • Finally someone asks !

  • u go kid !

  • LOL. Acclimation is not moving one thing to another area/!!? its being able to adapt and ACCLIMATE to a given environment...lol

  • yes it just shows that the trainers are not holders of a degree in marine animals, they work for low wages and do not have the necessary intelligence to see what a miserable life poor Lolita is having. What goes around comes around, may they come back in the next life to live a similar 'life'

  • the trainer is not worth breathing our air! stupid b**ch!

  • i wish i could freakn be right there and then and give her a pretty good nose bleed. (im rooting for the little kid who asked about a bigger tank - or better yet, set her free.)

  • She is so full of shit. She would not die if she was moved out of that shit hole.

  • not worth it!? psh these people are so fucking niave...

  • its treu, the trainers love the whales like family, i mean they are with them all the time. they just cant say what they want

  • You guys DO realize that the trainer cannot express what she is feeling. They are all under contract to say what someone has told them to say. If she were to say she wanted another pool for lolita, she'd most likely get fired. And I am against how small her enclosure is, but the fact is, Lolita is old. And very well adapted to her living area. If they were to move her, she most likely would suffer very uncessecary stress. Not to mention she is a very healthy orca.

  • Thank you, a voice of reason.

  • I agree with PixieStew's opinion.

Trainers should be very delicate with what they say. Children often hold on to every word they hear.

Moving a whale is not void of stress. Lifting Lolita out of the water, then forcing her to adapt to a new environment... For an elderly orca, it's a big risk.

    It could even kill her.

  • ofc she wont die. The capture of her woul killed her not moving her to another tank. B-shit- Owners dont think its worth spending money on her beacuse they know that she may die any day. NO ORCA HAS DIED during an transport.!

  • Not worth it?? She looks great?? Yeah, its not worth it because they know she will die soon. Looks great? Yeah, maybe physically.. but how about mentally? I wouls have gone crazy a long time ago if i would have been her. Our backyard pool is about as big as her tank..like.. try to find out whats wrong with that picture..

  • " I wouls have gone crazy a long time ago if i would have been her."

Only...you're not her. And none of us can know just how an animal is feeling on that level. Unless you're a mind-reader?

  • But we can know thazt it is not natural. It is not what she was born for

  • its not worth it? WHAT?! theese people are sick. FREE LOLITA NOW !

  • "As you can see from her show, she look's great."

How can you tell how healthy Lolita is by watching her perform tricks? It's not really easy to look at her teeth, or her digestive system or anything that way. That place has got to be shut down. Lolita has a living space slightly bigger than a hotel swimming pool. That totally sucks.

  • Holy crap man .... thats scary.

  • I feel a need to strangle that trainer.

  • lol i wood do that.

  • What? It's not her fault. She doesn't own Lolita, she just feeds, trains, and loves Lolita.

  • But she doesn't HAVE to lie about the situation... She is probably told to lie by the park owner but she doesn't have to. She ain't bein' forced. She should tell the truth...

  • Do they not see how unhappy she is they are just killing her!
