@debroglie24 Are you tone deaf ? As Much as I Admire Denny..to say that this is better than Colin Blundstone's version leaves me and many musicians speechless
they became the beatles denny wud play paul an john from time to time robert became paul perminatly the real john even calls him by name on let it be sarcasticly when faul told him he wasnt playin right
Find the version of this song by Colin Blunstone the lead singer from the Zombies. He did a version of this after the Zombies broke up. His version has a full strung orchestra. I'ts pretyy good too.
When i was young about 7 i got given a copy of this single along with aload of sixties 45's. I still think it is one of my favs and althouh colin blunstone made it famous, i think i prefer this, a little more life in it. The B-side ask the people is also pretty good. Does anyone know if this was the only song recorded at the session as would love to hear some more. anyways thank you Denny for a great song.
OK. Denny, You and Mike founded the band that my brother now playes in (since 1966 mind) but really, you DID write this gem, and sorry dear but ,,,,Colin Blunstone made it a truly beautiful song.
A fantastic song!I witnessed Colin singing this live with the Zombies twice in the last few months and dig his version on "One Year", still I think this arrangement works even better!
Got me this single once.. turned it to grey then.. still a great song and version. Love Denny's voice...

@debroglie24 beg to differ, many prefer Colins version, but to be sure, THIS man wrote it and thus deserves credit for that:)

Not a bad version, but alongside Colin Blunstone's taut spare interpretation it just sounds overproduced. Sometimes, less is more .....

Denny Laine is in my ears and in my eyes.....
Not as good as Colin Bluntstones version...ok though.

Denny Laine now lives in Las Vegas. He appeared at Liverpool's Cavern in February to record a live show.

Colin Blunstones version is so much better (more pull on the heartstrings). But I enjoyed this version also.

Do you have the single with Catherine's Wheel?
Also... I thought this single was credited to the Electric String Band and not Denny. Interesting.

Top song from Denny Laine, very much better than Colin Blunstone's version. Saw him sing this live at the Pavilion, Matlock Bath, in '67
