i think there's a similar sounding effect on wake up where tom does those bends near the start and just before the quiet "counter-intelligence" part. that might be what this geezer is on about. don't recognise it on any other song though. not off the top of my head anyway.

this seems like a really cool cheat tremolo effect though. i think it could be interesting in some maiden songs personally. the main riff of wasted years would be good with this.

you guys are right. tom doesnt do this. one of the coolest whammy bar things that tom morello does is at the end of the solo in "Know Your Enemy" but he doesnt even do anything close to this.

Brad Gillis from Night Ranger used to hit his guitar and get a similar effect...watch video "Don't tell me you Love me" during the solo...also if you listen to Ozzy... Ozzy used Brad to play on his Speak of the Devil "live album" i think it was 1982/3 or so right after Randy Rhodes was killed and during the solo for Paraniod you hear this tecqnique being employed also...way cool vid here and enjoyed the instruction...thanks

you can't do this with a standard tremolo. If you have a Kahler, or Floyd Rose, or some kind of 'fulcrum' tremolo then you can do it. Doesn't matter what kind of guitar, but the kind of tremolo system.
