@nabtitan It's red, the protagonist of Red Dead Revolver. John Marston was based on him (kind of like a tribute to him, but a whole new character as well).
Actually, listen to some of the tall-tales the guys around campfires tell. Sometimes they talk about Red Harlowe, who was apparently a legendary Gunslinger in his time, so they exist in the same universe even, just one is kind of a Spaghetti Western over-the-topness about it especially with the Ennio Morricone soundtrack, while Redemption is a lot like modern revival westerns, like 3:10 to Yuma.
Red was around during the 1980's, whereas Martson is around during the early 1900's.
@TheBType I didn't know that, thanks for telling me. I myself prefer the more adventorous, less realistic, spaghetti western types to those modern ones.
Actually, I find all three genres very interesting: Classic Westerns are blatantly unrealistic (lots of musical numbers in many), and Spaghetti Westerns with a harder-edged, less romantic look at the era (much more violent as well, which was controversial at the time they were made).
Revivalist Westerns are usually like Redemption, taking a lot from the Spaghetti's: violent, gritty, and cynical, but also weaving complex personality's instead of legendary archetypes into the narrative.
Redemption takes place in 1911, only three years before World War I breaks out, and the American West as a cultural phenomenon is slowly dying out in favor of modernization.
@TheBType 1980's? Well, that was about the time when everyone listened to Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" on the radio, 99% + 1% sure the Old West period was over by 1980's, and if you read the back cover of Red Dead Redemption, set in 1911 like you said; mentioned that "The Wild West is Dying", so 1911 WAS the time the West was dying, not 1980, by 1980, there was the modern jet fighter, and semi-auto pistols were the new trend.
@Mythic128 - Mainly because most (if not all) were licensed from films, which was awesome. Still, all you have to do is get the MP3s and use custom soundtracks :-)
I love Red Dead Redemption, but at the back of my head, i love Red.

@TheBType I'm kinda late on the reply, but I'm pretty sure I heard in Red Dead Revolver that Red was in the 1880's, not 1980.

Revolver takes place in the 1980's.
Redemption takes place in 1911, only three years before World War I breaks out, and the American West as a cultural phenomenon is slowly dying out in favor of modernization.

@TheBType How does revolver take place in the 1980s? Revolver takes place before redemption.
