That was an extremely difficult car to drive, plus it catched fire at almost every race. Jean-Pierre Jabouille was a real MAN!!! Plus he actually designed the car!! (He was an engineer). Respect!!
It would be interresting if the regulations for 2011 would have 1,4-1,6L V6 engines like the rumors say, at least for one season, just to see how much power they could get out of it!
@skynet091287 I guess it will be regulated...like all of the variables involved at the moment...i read somewhere that F1 cars of the early eighties reached 1200+ HP in qualys...that's something won't hapen again!! buuttt as you said i'd like to see that rumors come true
@thorazine86 Don't be too sure, if you look back at the 1967 Ford Cosworth DFV engine used by Lotus (and many other teams later on), it only produced about 400bhp. But in 1983, what was basicly the same engine, produced over 550bhp. Also during the 95-96 season the V10s used by the major teams, produced about 700bhp, but in 2005, the last V10 year, the engines produced nearly 1000bhp! So they might start small, but they will grow stronger!
@thorazine86 up to 1300hp for Renault and Honda turbo engines in qualifying mode in '86-'87, when in late 70's they only had around 600 with the same technology. Frightening ...

Thats is a car!!! This is F1!!! Today the F1 have to much rules -_-'' how remember... and in this time the pilot don't know if after the race can back to home... or see again their wife, mum, dad... A test??? Gilles Villeneuve Zolder 1982 - Mark Webber Valencia 2010, Egual accident
jabouille was very good unlucky he broke his legs in canada 80 i believe he wouda be 1st champion from france instead of the professor mr.prost.renault's very nice.woah..
one of the most shittest practice laps ive ever seen. almost like taking the car round without really concentrating on not squeezing it all out. missed apexes, running wide, not very smooth at all on the throttle, i never done this shit in all my days of racing touring cars. although jabouille brought a lot of the racing knowledge to the table and although he had mountains of talent he should not have been producing a lap like this.marciolunelli you must be kidding "Great Lap!!!! Great Car!!"
you have to remember that during these times, in order to film the lap, they had to mount a HEAVY camera on the car.. and i don 't think jabouille would have risked the safety of himself and other cars on the road with this in mind..
yes..sometimes, the drivers do gun the cars with cameras on them..but it depends on the camedra, the weight and how well it's mounted..
@NewYankee01 Where did he miss an apex? I don't see it, unless you mean the 10 cm he keeps away from the dirty edge of the track. You surely can't mean when he double-apexes some of the corners either, an oh so experienced touring car driver must know that he did that on purpose, right?
why dont they bring back turbos, theres no reason for not bringing them back, aerodynamics have improved, so have tyres & fuel, plus in my opinion ,its not as exicting anymore, the fia is getting too strict, smaller tanks, only v8s w/ 790-800 bhp, jesus, production cars put out more bhp nowhere days.
It's a weird layout, a bit like old Hockenheim as someone said. It's only the last kilometer or so that's like a go kart track, the rest is awesome. Modernised, my guess is it might look like this: The fast 'S' bend after the start would be tightened up into a chicane. The two straights would be re-designed to have 'complexes' or bends in them and the big 180 bend would be re-done so that the entry would be tight (say 2nd/3rd gear) with a fast (increasing radius) exit.
Niiiiice!! What a video man!!! hi, i'm Lucas from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Actually the most popular circuit used in the Oscar Alfredo Galvez, is the number 12, and number 9, we really miss number 15. they never used it again. it's been a long time, what a great circuit. Sorry about my english, i hope you'll understand.

cornering with one-hand and manual gear shifting Senna style !!!! that is just the best of F1
bpmelo 1 year ago
@bpmelo What do you mean 'Senna style?'
That is how ALL drivers turned corners then. Or do you think that ONLY Senna's car had a manual gearbox?
