  • Wow you sound just like the guy from Hickok45's channel.

  • @ichewtoast111

Thanks for following along with my videos.

I've been told that before, but we are not the same person :-)

I do like his channel and his videos.

    All the best,

    John

  • thanks for the video. Im looking to get a lathe and make my own furniture. thanks

  • what is the easiest way to cut a cove on a lathe?

  • Video seesm very informative, but has a glitch comon to many Youtube videos recently.

No Sound. I have checked my speakers and other videos play just fine. NOt sure what problem is, but will bookmark it for later, just in case.

  • @sundance66

Thanks for your comment. I just checked and sound if fine. As you say, it may have been a YouTube glitch. You amy want to try again.

    All the best,

    John

  • Question : With hand precision and adjustment how can i make the exactly same design again? (Example: Quantity of 5 or 10 etc.)

  • @halfmumi

If you are wanting *exact* precision you will need a CNC lathe. However a skilled craftsman can reproduce items by hand that are so similar that it would be difficult to spot even the slightest variation by eye.

  • @johnrob281 Thanx a lot John. So how/what is the way to make it? Can you demonstrate it in a video if possible? Like 2 wooden chess pieces but exactly(or really close) to each other.

  • I really enjoy your video's John. I keep comming back to them.

  • @customcraft1

Thanks for your comments and for following along.

    ---John---

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I will be coming back to this and your other vids often!

  • @StraddleCreekSoap

Thanks for your comments. Glad you enjoyed the video.

    --John--

  • How much does this lathe cost?

  • Where can I buy a jet lathe near London Ontario?

  • nice vid i cant wait to get my lathe ill have so much fun your vids help alot

  • those are so fun we are spining stuff in wood shop at school

  • Thanks for the band-saw tip. I am guessing you have devised a v-cut jig for your band -saw. Would you mind showing us that procedure?

  • Toolrest is too short for that 6 inches. Should be at least 2 inches longer on each side or the "blocs" should be max. 5" long.

  • Thanks!! Really good video, keep up the good work:)

  • Can you please tell me which model Jet lathe this is and is it suitable for turning 10-12" bowls? I'm looking for a small lathe for hobby use without spending a fortune, this one looks pretty good.

  • This model I have is the JET JWL-1014 Mini Lathe. Although it is a fine machine, I think it is a little small for a 10" bowl. If you are going to do smaller items, I recommend this lathe. ---John---

  • @johnrob281

    Thanks :)

  • whats a good starting lathe and where would youfind them

whats a good start in price

  • i love using the lathe in my woodshop class! im getting fairly good :)

  • how abot ear plugs does neone know how to go about crafting some, i've tried the past two days i got good results on one side but then on the other it isn't so good.

    any tips ?

  • good video...i'm really trying to research making wooden ear plugs, but it seems that people like to keep their trade secrets...especially when it comes to inlays, and the other processes that go into it

  • is this jeff foxxworthy or Dr. Phil doing this video, JK just giving you shit

  • Great videos! Thank you very much!! I'm using an old 14" variable speed, Montgomery Ward, Powr Kraft lathe. Pay no attention to the nit-picking critics... Surely, they'd have videos of their own to "teach" if they could John. Please keep up the great work.

  • Thanks for vid, its been a while since i used the lathe

  • can i use a JET lathe, or any lathe for taht matter, to make a full sized baseball bat??

  • Thanks for viewing my videos. Yes, the JET will work fine, as will any lathe that has the bed length that fits a bat. For example, if you have a 12 X 36 lathe, you can turn up to 12 inches in diameter and 36 in length. ---John---

  • what size skew is good for turning pens? I need to buy one.

    Thanks

  • Thanks for posting, Great!

  • Great instructions.

  • you might check out legacy woodworking, they make a type of lathe in different sizes for making spirals or rope designs...happy turning...

  • @chihene Or Penn State Industries or MLCS. Penn state specializes in small lathes, MLCS more for router bits but MLCS sells Penn State products

  • hi I am looking for a tool or machine that can make a swirl on wood like the threading on a bolt as an example looks like rope? any ideas on what machine can make such design?

  • aaaaahh. My favorite part of woodshop, right now we are making gavels, I di my head on the lathe and made designs, awe, so beautiful.

  • Thanks a lot - I had been using just the spindle gouge to make beads and coves, but the skew can make smaller ones much more easily!

  • great job, i enjoyed your tut! keep up the good work!

  • What a dangerous way to store chisels so close to the lathe !!!

  • Most likely sohowever it works for me. I dont recommend it for others; they can put their tools where they want!

  • A great tutorial, thank you. Greetings from the UK.

  • nice instruction. you make it look easy.

  • Thanks, very informative video. I just picked up a lathe at a yard sale, and having never used one this really helps.

  • you should teach a class! i love the way you instuct! thank you for this vid. helps a lot!
