  • Beautiful song and a great movie. I hate westerns, so it's a real testament to the greatness of this movie that I loved it!

(If you're wondering why I watched it if I hate westerns so much, it's because I love Glenn Ford.)

  • Your video is popular on Ulaanbaatar

  • Powiem tak, kawałek dosłownie wymiata tak jak cały film.

  • one of my favorite westerns the remake was just shit

  • glem ford playes the bad guy . but i likes hii , how he saved van hefferon in the end, james

  • Keeps stopping all the fun is gone what are you like Google?

  • One of the best western songs ever composed, and one of the best westerns ever made.

    (Forget about that remake version)

  • Brilliant cinematography in this opening sequence. Such skill is lost today despite all their fancy equipment ... not that it would be appreciated.

  • What a terrific theme song. Don't write 'em like this any more. Or couldn't if they tried!

As good as Gun fight at the OK Corral, also sung by Frankie Laine.

  • the Lyrics There is a lonely train called the 3.10 to Yuma The pounding of the wheels is more like a mournful sigh There's a legend and there's a rumour When you take the 3.10 to Yuma You can see the ghosts of outlaws go ridin' by (Ridin' by) In the sky (In the sky), way up high The buzzards keep circlin' the train While below the cattle are thirstin' for rain It's also true they say on the 3.10 to Yuma A man may meet his fate For fate travels ev'rywhere
  • from the moment that music starts...and opening credits start...you know your gonna be in for some cool shit

  • i wish hollywood would pull their heads out..and realize that theres a good number of us that still appreciate good westerns

  • @arkee71

You said it. Crossing my fingers for a revival in popularity some day.

  • One of my favorites, GLENN FORD and VAN HEFLIN untouchable ! Frankie Laine made this CLASSIC even better with this song.

  • His commercial release of the song had completely different lyrics to the soundtrack version

  • Le thème musical est vraiment magnifique, il se laisse écouter sans retenue :)

    Merci pour la vidéo !

  • A really beautiful theme! Frankie Laine was greatest singer of western songs.

  • love this tune, great film as well

  • How often do you see a remake that is as good as the original? Seldom!

  • Anyone know happened to these original lyrics ? The lyrics you get on any Frankie Laine versions now are completely different .

  • The ending of this one is 10004X better than the new one.

  • Bellissimo questo film western........

  • @perker180

    i prefer the old version

BUT the remake isn't actually crap, which is very rare these days

  • This one was the master, so much better than the remake, all the way around.

  • Frankie has been gone a long time. One of my favorites that he did on his record, was "Bowie Knife"

  • @ScotchIrishFool1 actually, Frankie's only been gone since Feb 07. Bowie Knife, Wanted Man and everything else on that album was brilliant eh!

  • The ending of the 57 version was so powerful. The new one comes nowhere close. Often more is less.

  • @fred5399 I agree. haven't neither version and I'm an old movie nut. But I believe the older version will be to my liking.

  • @fred5399 Or.... less is more :)

  • Yup. A real belter o' a film.

  • The original film was great. The remake good. I know today's veiwing audience demands a paint-by-numbers visual ride, but its all too much.

  • See the original if you haven't yet

  • Forget the crap remake with the changed ending. This is the original and still the best**==

  • This is one of my favorite "Classic Westerns" the music by Frankie Laine is tops and even when played as a guitar solo, it is great......this same background music was used in " A Good Day for a Hanging " starring Fred McMurray, another great western.

  • just seen this moive today and this is way better than the new one

  • I love this song. :)

  • That shot around 0:54 reminds me of a similar shot in Fargo

  • I just have to think that the composer and lyricist must known that Frankie would be singing this one. The match was perfect.

  • The one and only "psychological" western. With "Rio Grande", my beloved ones.

  • The best western ever made and a super song to match.

  • I just love this song! Does anyone have lyrics?

  • Great, Great, Great song from a Great Movie! Laine is perfect for this song!

  • Some values are timeless, global, time will pass but young or old heart can hear the call of devotion to duty.

Alcuni valori sono senza tempo, a livello mondiale, il tempo passerà, ma il cuore giovane o vecchio può sentire il richiamo della devozione al dovere.

  • quite agree umibl

  • Awesome song by Frankie Lane. It's haunting, melancholic and almost makes your hair stand on end.

  • @carlfro62 Props to Frankie LoVecchio (a/k/a/ Frankie Laine) for his rendition of a great western theme.

  • @carlfro62 Chills down my spine when I listen this. NOW that's what is called excellence in music!

  • Bravo amico averle riproposte!! INDIMENTICABILI !!!! grazie...

  • A better movie than the new one. They forget how much a classic theme compliments a classic western.

  • @UMIBL I disagree.

  • @UMIBL WOW!! That's what I call an intro to a movie! I haven't seen neither version(shame on me because I'm an old movie nut). I'll see the original first!!

  • @gjohnsoningary I mean either verson!

  • @gjohnsoningary Great movie filmed in Sedona AZ

  • @UMIBL

The remake is as good if not better than the original one.

  • @UMIBL the new one was better. Nevertheless the old on is a classic

  • @127prats Ha! I guess we could argue forever, but I think the old version gets the votes from what I've read of all the comments here.

  • @UMIBL lol cuz its the old version, check imdb. Anyways both were good, and each to his own.

  • avevo 13 anni e non mi perdevo nessun western....

  • I remember the film-and Frankie Laine singing-as if it was yesterday. I was 18-and enthralled! They just don't make them like that anymore!

  • It is a shame that so many "modern" films have to be "realistic." I think most of us go to a film for relaxation and entertainment. This film was much better in the original version, acting and story line. Notice how few new films will ever be a classic.

  • the ending of this version was great

  • kakva stvar! ima nešta neodoljivo u tom western i country zvuku, neki nemir koji se razlijeva beskrajnim prerijama...

  • Exelente como recuerdo de buenas peliculas

  • Ai... I notice condense stripes from an aeroplane!

  • In 1963 I heard my first stereo system. A mate had only one album Frankie Laine - Hell Bent for Leather. I was mesmerized sitting between the two speakers listening as it sounded like the horses were running right past. 3:10 to Yuma was one unforgetable song and I have followed Frankie Laine ever since. Note that the words are different between his original Glen Ford movie version, the recorded version and the one used in the Russell Crowe movie. Frankiies songs are always classics.

  • When I was young my favorite actor was Glenn Ford, and my favorite singer Frankie Laine. In Germany it was not easy to get songs with Frankie Laine, and I drove the disk-traders crazy!

Now, when "the 3:10 to yuma" came into German cinemas, and I heard Frankie Laines voice sing the title song, it was like Christmas+Easter to me! I watched the movie 7 times, for I couldn't get the disc!

And now I'm old; my music taste has changed a lot, but I have never got tired of Frankie Laine's voice!

  • who ever knows who sings this and whats the name of the song plz tell me would appreciate it very much thanks

  • It was the theme song to the original motion picture 3:10 toYuma. Titleof the song is the same as the titleof the movie. It was sung by Frankie Laine, a major pop music star in the late 40's and early 50's who later became noted for his renditions of western songs, particularly western movie themes.

  • Hi from a Frankie Laine fan for more than 50 years...I bet you will now start to gather more of his songs on your computer.Good luck with your searching.I have collected more than 500 over the years. All the best from near Liverpool, Ernie

  • Great song blends in perfectly with the movie. Watched this for the first time last week, and then the new version. I much prefer the Glenn Ford film, but I hope we can get more westerns. There are however, so many old ones I have yet to see, looking forward to discovering these gems.

  • What for an amesing song!!!!!!!!!Almost so good like the movie!!!!Awesom!!!!!!!!

  • Frankie Laine's voice was perfect for this song. An amazing blend of power and sensitivity, matching perfectly the gritty moral messages of the film. If you think the song is good on its own, wait till you hear it with the film as well ....

  • "Magnificent movie"...

  • excelent movie

  • i am not into country music but i really love this song=)

    he sounds so cute=)

  • I love how this song foreshadows the movie... This movie is alot better than the new one story wise.

  • my second favorite western singer. love all of his music. thanks for sharing this and other videos

  • Great song and movie the original! Both classics!

  • George Duning's beautiful melody was recycled for the 1959 movie "Good Day for a Hanging" as the theme for a doomed outlaw played by Robert Vaughn.

  • This movie ROCKS............I got so many life lessons from watching it over and over!

  • T saw the remake a while ago, but I haven't heard of this one since rescently. I should have guessed the new one was a remake, since it had such a deep storyline.

  • A song that would seem to have been written especially for Laine. It rates among his very best recordings.

  • Thanks for the intro

  • Wow Xyome i agree that this is great but its hard to say its better. I say either its a tie or (Do not forsake me) is better by just a little bit.

  • I strongly agree.Frankie Laine was one of the rare ones who could make a fine movie even better.

  • Great song. This movie is head and shoulders above the remake. It was pathetic. They needed a Frankie Laine!

  • this song is alsooo nice

but the newest is better ;)

  • As great as "Do Not Forsake Me" is, this takes the cake. A very underrated movie, with a fantastic theme.

  • This is a great song:) But lets take a vote... What's better this or the song from High Noon?

  • Listen also to the Navajo Trail by Frankie. So many great ones he left us with. Mike in So Cal.

  • GleNN. Two "n's". ha ha

  • Great movie. I saw it for the first time the other day. And this theme song is excellent. It gives me chills at the end when Van Heflin and Glen Ford are in the train, and it FINALLY (Miraculously) begins to rain! It's moving.

  • great movie. much better than the remake. watched it the other day on turner classic movies. deffinantly good

  • This mmovie is legendary........way better than the remake.....intense !!!!!!

  • I'd love somebody to post the ending of the original movie. The song sounds a bit different there.

  • i add this to my Favorite, is the best soundtrack of a non spagheti western...

  • love this song but is the name of the song 3:10 to yuma aswell , i have been trying to find it but i cant

  • kıraç lan bu :D

  • A masterpiece, very much better than the remake,

  • Superb - Just Brilliant - R.I.P.

  • I agree , he is just as Elvis , Dean and frank , fantstic!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love this song!

  • Great song, and great movie. The music gives this film a mood... Fascinating also the plot, and the slow and solemn rhythm... The conscience commands what to do, to be honest and rebel against the evil. And then comes the almost impossible victory, and the rain.

  • i just see the movie..superb, respect a clasic western

  • Man i love this stuff you just don't have that kind of music anymore

  • Totally agree with your comments.I can't think of one present day singer who comes anywhere near the quality of Frankie's singing. A good job we are able to keep recordings. All the best, Ernie

  • Love Frankie Lane...and this song..and the movie....where does all the time go...funny how time flys

  • Great song and movie the original! Both classics!

  • Great--Westerns rule.

  • ...a man may meet his fate for fate travels everywhere...take that train. Great melody and lyrics --and no one sang a western movie theme better than Frankie Laine! Time for a shot of whiskey. Barkeep -- let's have some servicer here!

  • Should i watch this one before the remake?

Is it better than the remake?

  • You've probably seem them both by now. If not, watch the original first. Then when you watch the new one, you'll be intrigued at how it expands on certain subtleties only hinted at in the first. You'll like them both. Can't say more without giving away the store.

  • Thank you

  • With 'RAWHIDE' the best Western theme song ever!

  • In agreement 100% .I have RAWHIDE as ringtone on my mobile and it turns heads when it goes off in company. A great song/singer,cheers Ernie

  • The theme song for "310 to Yuma" is one of the greatest songs I have ever heard. I've listened to several of Frankie Laine's other songs and his voice sounds very different here. It's very powerful!! Thanks for posting!

  • Hi from a BIG Frankie Laine fan. I agree with your comments entirely. Have you heard his song "Johnny Willow" on You Tube. I've collected more than 520 of FL's songs and had never even knew this one existed. Totall diff to his usual. All the best, Ernie,Merseyside

  • cerco disperatamente il film o almeno la canzone tratta da Ballata Selvaggia... chi mi può aiutare?

    gikre

  • I like these lyrics better than the love song he put on his albums, this matches the movie better. Really like these ballads that open the westerns, the Hanging Tree is my favorite!

  • totally agree--I can never understand why the words have to differ from film to record. Sometimes the film version has totally diff words, a good example is High Noon cheers

  • perhaps he made the song for the record before he did the film version. Like Nick Cave made a new "red right hand" for one of the Scream movies, with completely different lyrics and a more scary movie feeling, but that movie version is never gonna come out on CD

  • nel 1959 era inverno canticchiavo questa canzone, non mi ero accorto che una bella ragazza al primo piano mi ascoltava......

    diventò mia moglie. Bardiliev

  • absolutely haunting!great thanx 4 posting

  • i love this song and the film bloody good

  • Somehow I'd missed this one until now. A spine tingler. It's up there with Johnny Guitar...

  • You seem not to know :/

  • great song 5/5. where can I download it from?

  • A masterpiece. When I hear the song with the opening scene I feel something going down my back... One of the movies of my life.

  • instead of taking the 3:10, should have gotten on that jet.

  • Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

  • Just saw the original 3:10 to Yuma on HD last Night. Awesome movie. And Frankie L Rocks, "He rode a Blazing saddle" LOL fundysdotcom

  • Anypne got the lyrigs of the original version from this movie?

  • I take it that the lyrics on your Hell Bent LP are the same as those on my, "The Best of Frankie Laine" CD. On my CD version he expresses his regret at not having chatted up a girl he saw on the train. As you say though, both are great. There is another version by Sandy Denny. It has a different mood to the Frankie Laine versions but it also is very moving.

An elusive but completely seductive thread of magic runs through the film, partly created by the song in my view.

  • It appears that they rewrote the lyrics for the album in order to make the song more universal (a love song)--so the song would stand on its own--rather than as a tie-in to the movie.

I was hoping that the recent "3:10 to Yuma" remake would spur some new attention for the original and for Frankie Laine, but it has not seemed to happen. He's still the best in my book and this is a great song!

  • Can't say I've heard of Sandy Denny (I was thinking of Sandy Duncan?) but I'll try to look him up and see if a clip of that song is on line.

  • Nights--

I found the Sandy Denny version on the all music guide. From the 20-second clip that was available, it sounded like an entirely different song. Odd. But I did learn that SD was a Judy Collins-like woman folk singer who had some success.

  • Highnrising,

Sandy Denny was an English folksinger who died subsequent to a fall down a flight of stairs while drunk in 1978. She would be 60 now if she'd lived. She is possibly best remembered for her rendition of 'Tam Lin', a 21 verse rigmarole based on a legend from the Scottish borders region. As you say, her version of '3.10 to Yuma' is really a different song. I don't know what the relationship is between the Frankie Laine version and hers.

  • Interesting that Frankie sang totally different lyrics when he did this song on the Hellbent LP.

    They're both great.
