Jackie Davis was buried in the Edgewood Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida. The services were arranged by the Hillman-Pratt Funeral Home, 525 West Beaver Street in Jacksonville. Evelyn Hillman was the director at the time (November 11, 1999)
@Doodlinlounge Jackie and Lil Davis were great friends of mine. I met Jackie while working at Suniland music in Miami FL. He would come in my store each day and just play. He taught me agreat deal about music and life. He also played at my wedding. When I received the call from his wife Lil that he had passed I felt such sorrow.By any chance do you know the name of the cemetary where he is burried I woul love to visit and pay my respect.
He played opposite a band where I played B-3. I think he was secretly envious of my instrument-- Hammond sponsored him at the time and he had to play a rotten Concorde that kept breaking down. If that one survived snow, Jackie was a lucky man. What a great gentleman too.
Jackie passed on November 2, 1999 from complications following a stroke. His last days were spent in a nursing home in Jacksonville, FL. He was my dear friend...
Having been a Jackie Davis fan since the early days of his Capitol releases I am disappointed to see this crowd who obviously does not really appreciate the talent of this man. He was one of the organ greats. I really appreciate this video of Jackie but I can't get beyond this ignorant audience who knows nothing of the talent of Jackie Davis. Be sure to check out the Jasmine double CD which contains his first 4 Capitol albums titled
Jumping Hi-Fi Hammond. Great Listening from JACKIE DAVIS!
How could anyone leave an organ outdoors near the snow. If I were Jackie--I would have been incensed, too! A testimony to Hammond, though...that the thing still worked!
Thank you for asking, Gary...

I shot this video at the El Chaputepec club in Denver in February of 1994. I spent three glorious days with Jackie that I will never forget.
