What have you done in your life that would justify the way you are deriding Cropper? Have you busted your ass to reach your goals? Do you even have any goals? Or do you simply prowl Youtube in search of people to ridcule?
If you want to teach kids, why not get a B Ed and get hired at a private school where you can teach the kind of kids that are in private school, and you can teach them what they teach in private school (which, I'm sure there are several schools in America with priorities similar to yours)?
Seems like that would be a better way to go about it rather than making 4 Youtube videos a day.
I went to college for 4 years. That is where I decided the state educational system is corrupt. Maybe I'll eventually have to go back for a degree, but lots of people make it without a degree, and I think I can.
Ok, so you don't have any experience teaching children, but do you have any experience working with children? There is a difference between conveying ideas to adults and conveying ideas to kids. Maybe you should make kids videos to show how good you are at relating with children!
Why would anyone find it funny that you have a school without students? How will you introduce children to the doctrine of objectivism? Why didn't you know about the solicitor's (do you have any experience at all?)
Different from your model, I was thinking in terms of a clearinghouse for lesson plans, tutors, etc., at my lown site. It'd be like a Napster for all things educational and people could review or rate the content. Kudos to anyone trying to educate via the great, 'new' technology.
People DESPISE anyone attempting to work outside the regime. Theres TONS of potential for education on the net and the system will kick scream and cry about any attempt to make them obselete.
Tell your friends that do have kids. Im sure you wouldnt havent to be in agreement on all subjects w/ Mr, Croper and I would think if you preferred certain subjects not directly related to his philosophical beliefs it would be done.
CropperB advocates CHILD ABUSE and CHILD EXPLOITATION for self-gratification. He explains his philosophy of CHILD ABUSE in his video "Sweat shops and Child Labor".
Hello Mr. Cropper, Its been a bit since I have visited. I am sad to hear things are slow. I am also a private teacher and have been for several years. I do support my self and my teenage daughter from my teaching, although it is a simple living. Keep up the positive attitude.
Cropperb, you appear to walk a thin line between a lunatic and a hero. I'm very encouraged by you in the pursuit of my own goals! When the achievement of my goals starts to produce enough income for me to get myself and my wife out below the poverty line, I will surely send past-due funds your way for all these videos, many have been very helpful.
I can't believe no students yet! I mean people ought to know about your school. Such a great deal and no students yet...it's just inertia until people start flocking around the lyceum, mark my words.
I actually want you to get students because I know how much you invest in this (even though I don't always agree) but like any business, you need to realize the market you are entering... parents that send children to alternative schools are usually religious or very liberal...and you don't fit any of that... if you don't get students, you don't need to look much past that for the reason...but good luck
You need to list your teaching credentials on your website, and you need to provide more information about yourself. Why would anyone want to send their child to your school over another established school? How do they know they can even trust you alone in a room with their child let alone teach them? Also, a newspaper article, a website and some utube videos is definitely not enough. This will obviously take a LONG time; it could take years to start a school with no credentials.
Didn't you go to college? Maybe you could list that on your website. It just doesn't seem "real", it doesn't seem like a school. It seems like some wierdo with a website, why should anyone trust you? Could you maybe get involved in the AYn Rand institute and possibly get help from them? Maybe you should get more photographs to put up from stock footage of children looking at a blackboard or something like that, and if no credentials maybe a couple of essays about why your school is better.
If educating children isn't profitable to begin with, why not go into educating people through YouTube full time? You could offer a subject in a series of videos (say 10 parts), and provide the 1st part (or the first few parts) gratuitously, and then charge something for the full series. Just an idea.
My experience in business is that people will be more motivated to pay for something once they get a taste of it. Free samples--it works great in the Internet porn industry!
But be sure not to charge very much at the beginning. Charge very little--in fact, undercharge--for the full series. Why? Because you'll get a better representation of who would be willing to pay anything for your videos than if you were to charge too much. Once you get some statistical feedback, you'll be able to gradually increase your prices to where you want them.
Suggestion for free ads, write general education piece for local paper (good content for them and free ad for you at end of column). Topically, in context of ed reform, maybe something short about the differences between progressive, classical, and conceptual hierarchical approaches. Something that sells your expertise and unique value proposition.
You might still consider New Hampshire, even though they "hate the troops" up there.
You never mentioned why you picked St. George, besides that people there don't think the U.S. military is inherently evil. *insert implicit question here*
I actually graduated from a small private high school that was started by an ambitious teacher like yourself. The school did well and branched out into multiple locations. So it is certainly possible.
Do not let those who seek to mock, instead of do, get you down. Mocking voices are everywhere, and to give them any credibility is to set yourself up for failure. I'm sure you'll succeed. Anyone truly willing to succeed can, even in a screwed system
Do you ever think that getting involved in education somewhere else might be a good first step towards starting your own school and getting the students you want? You obviously have an aptitude for the material and teaching, but it might just be a comfort factor for parents to know that you've been in the field a while. Good luck!
That's an excellent analogy. Howard Roark's reputation was ruined by the Banner, but they could not prevent his work from speaking for itself. Similarly, your aptitude and philosophical integrity speak for themselves.
Also, please tell me you are aware that the name of your "school" means "lecture hall of failure".

When they are about 16, they can start studying abstract bodies of knowledge.

I earnestly encourage you to send a contribution to the school today.
